I could see Adele massively helped by the top 10 boost, but seriously has anyone heard anything about a video for it yet?

So great to see SLY #25 still and RITD #40 wit SFTTR nearly #10.

The "q" is a backwards "P"

Oh! :o That's rather inconvenient that it looks exactly like another letter of the alphabet though. Like whenever I saw one of the T-shirts, I just found myself thinking "What does the "Q" stand for?"

I think the SFTTR video will be released when the song starts getting more popular in the US. That's my theory anyway. Either that, or Adele's management might decide not to release a music video at all, as some sort of "statement", if you know what I mean.

I also think the top 10 effect would help her loads.

But SLY is the second single in the US so it doesn't make sense at all.

Eric they'll definitely release a video i'm sure, but i agree I think they're waiting for US too but its not a good idea as RITD is still doing so well and will still be selling well for weeks to come! We and Europe need the video NOW!

Wait is SLY confirmed as second US single? So I wonder if they'll make a US video for it :o :w00t:

If Someone Like You is the 2nd single in the US, they probably will make a video for it then. Which will probably boost its sales even more in the UK!

Or they should do like the BEPs did last year when they release different singles in different countries. They made like a joint music video for Rock That Body and Imma Be, because Imma Be was released in the US at the same time as Rock That Body was released in Australia and Europe.

I heard in other countries for Set Fire to the Rain on MTV they just played one of her live performances, and used that as a music video. Alicia Keys was in a similar situation last year, since only the UK and a couple of other countries had Empire State of Mind as a single, whilst the rest of the world got Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart and Unthinkable. So what the did with Alicia Keys was they just used one of her live performances of Empire State of Mind as the music video. It means they don't have to spend loads of money on a music video for just 2 or 3 countries, but MTV still have something to play.

I don't think SFFTR needs a video. It would help obviously, but it's got to #1 in a couple of countries months ago. The radio support it gets can probably help compensate for the lack of support it might get from MTV.

Also, I think Someone Like You could be huge in the US.

Like it needs any more help in the UK.

I'm surprised it hasn't already been cherry-picked high into the US charts, though?

SLY is #78 on US iTunes :D It was outside the top 100 a few days ago so maybe airplay has started for it now? I think it could easily be another massive US hit for her. They just need to start properly promoting it pretty soon before people get bored of Adele's one song.

Also on US iTunes:

110. Set Fire to the Rain - ADELE

125. Rumour Has It - ADELE

135. Turning Tables - ADELE

These three also have big potential in the US if they're doing so well with so little promo, hopefully the latter two will also be released here although they'll probably either end the era after SFTTR or do one more single then end it.

It got to #65 on the Hot 100 the week of her album's release and I don't think it's ever left the US iTunes top 200. (Well, it's been in there somewhere every time I've looked, as has Set Fire To The Rain and since Glee Turning Tables has been there all the time too - RHI has only recently entered though I think)

It has. Well, not *high*, but I've seen it going in an out of the top 100 on iTunes all the time the past few months. And it managed to make the Hot 100 officially too, which is impressive considering the chart includes airplay, and as SLY isn't a single (yet), it only gets a tiny bit of airplay.

Turning Tables and Set Fire to the Rain also got cherry-picked a lot. I think Turning Tables almost made the top 20 on US iTunes at one point.

It was funny, because at one point a while ago, I observed that Rolling in the Deep, Set Fire to the Rain and Turning Tables had all peaked higher in the US than the UK.

I agree that the song doesn't really need more "help" in the UK though. I was kind of annoyed when they officially released SLY as a single in the UK. I honestly don't get the point. It probably got the song like 50,000 extra sales or something. They should've released Set Fire to the Rain then, and then they could be releasing another song like Turning Tables now. The only disadvantage if they did that would've been that Adele would've had 3 songs really popular at the same time, but it didn't do Rihanna any harm.

Yeah, I often even see SLY in the US top 100. For an album track to have such longevity like that, is quite amazing really. I think the buzz about the song from the UK must be what has kept SLY selling so well over the months. A bit like what we've had in the UK with Chris Brown's album track, Look At Me Now. There's no way that would've stayed around so long if it wasn't popular in the US.

I wonder if there's a very small chance the original RITD could return to the top 40 this week alongside Linkin Park's cover (assuming LP even go top 40)? I'm sure it'll climb at least one place anyway.

Elbow are back up to #52 with One Day Like This - anyone know the reason for this latest resurgence? It'll almost certainly pass 300k this week, crazy sales for a song which only barely made the top 40! :o

I'm glad someone is posting pop bars in this thread still. At least the thread is not a 100% chat now.

Also, it was used in Eastenders fairly prominently last night

Okay i've bought Set Fire To The Rain now so if it makes top 10 right now its me. :heehee: My favourite song of all time, absolutely love it, perfection for me.

I've just heard Till I'm Gone, Space Bound and I'm On One on the radio for the first time! :cheer: ORGASM!

I hope Till I'm Gone can make top 10 one day. I'm not sure it will though. And hopefully Space Bound can get top 40. I doubt I'm One One will even go top 75 though. It's a very good song, however.

I bet Set Fire to the Rain will overtake Mr. Saxobeat like 10 minutes after The Wanted go top 10. That's always what happens. :drama:

Ha! :D

Good to see it show high, should be above 300k this week then?! :D

According to the new release schedule 'Little Bad Girl' is released tonight! :o Top 10? Then maybe a climber to #1?

It bombed horribly in the USA and I suspect it'll do similarly badly here. This era isn't going too well for Guetta so far.

I think if anything Guetta has grown in popularity with 'Where Them Girls At'.

If you think about 2009 - there was little in terms of big dance/club hits - the likes of Chipmunk, JLS and Tinchy Stryder were big artists at the time; so come Summer 'When Love Takes Over' and 'Sexy Chick' were just what was needed. On the back of these, 'One Love' and 'Memories' did okay - with the latter actually selling over 200k despite only peaking at #15. 'Gettin' Over You' only proved successful because of LMFAO and Fergie's additions to the remix.

What people think as 'failing' in this era, is merely releasing oddly. 'Who's That Chick?' was released last year (and although on a re-issed 'One Love') and peaked in the lower half of the top 10 due to a lack of video etc. The same can be said for 'Where Them Girls At' - it charted really well considering the video was released 7/8 weeks after its initial release. Hopefully 'Little Bad Girl' will chart similarly - but Taio Cruz revealed a month or two back that the video had already been shot; so it should help to give it a better start. Not yet R1 playlisted though.
