A track possibly destined to become an all-time classic versus an average piece of manufactured pop - no contest. Girls Aloud to be eliminated - can't see for the life of me how it even made the top ten.

I think "manufactured" is such a stupid term to use, for so many reasons.

 

This poll is about which song is the best (or worst). So I agree with you, it doesn't matter whether it's manufactured, or the methodology of creating the song, or the methods of promotion applied. We should just be voting for the song which sounds the worst.

 

Although I think both songs are great, so I don't really mind which wins in this case. :lol: But if lots of people are voting against "manufactured" songs, that gives a really unfair disadvantage to them.

SOTU - Manufactured pop brilliance, but who cares about the manufactured part, most hits are manufactured these days.

ATTSS - Probably also manufactured pop brilliance. One of my favourite songs of all time. Both are 11/10 moments for me though, but I voted for Girls Aloud as it's not quite as amazing! :P

I said 'take out the 'manufactured'' because t.A.T.u. isn't manufactured whereas GA is - however, I agree that whether songs are 'manufactured' or not it doesn't really matter as long as they're good. Many of GA's singles are brilliant, especially 'Call The Shots' which is genuinely among my favourite songs of all time.

I'd look at tATu's history if I were you - they are ABSOLUTELY manufactured.... by the same guy who wanted them to promote the faux-lesbian nonsense to try to get press coverage and the get the attention of the straight male (p****) audience. Whilst Girls Aloud are monumentally dreadful and wholly manufactured - we have to be honest and say that, yep, BOTH the final top 2 are from bands who were 'created' from scratch and who couldn't construct a song on their own if their lives depended on it.

 

And whilst I kind of agree we are supposedly voting on the best song (strange that the far-and-away best song, Beyonce, disappeared a few rounds ago - the ONLY true classic on this while sorry list), a song by a manufactured pop act is far less valid than a track by a band who actually WROTE it themselves.

 

It's a pitiful final two - but All the Things She Said is soooo much better. But in honesty, it is like saying $h!t's better than diarrhoaea.
