August 7, 201113 yr Do we know if she's actually got the 2nd single recorded? I know it's apparently meant to sound like Kate Bush, Tears For Fears and Massive Attack but is it ready? No idea but I hope so - for Leona's sake. What I'd do to have Simon's testicles in a blender while attached to his body.
August 7, 201113 yr Well whatever happens tomorrow, at least we have the song. It's fantastic  Celebs have been involved in much bigger 'scandals' and come out of it fine. So I'm sure Leona will If they do have to stop the release, I doubt they will need to rush release something new. We are going to have a new single later on in the year to launch the album anyway. What I'd do to have Simon's testicles in a blender while attached to his body. It was blatant plagarism so I can't say I'd be displeased if Avicii wins (even as a Leona fan) but it wasn't Leona's fault, she probably had no idea of the plagarism, it was all Cowell I expect  Poor Leona is the innocent party here :( If she doesn't have the 2nd single recorded and ready for release - the era could go tits up sadly :(

It was simply a miscommunication. Avicii sent out his instrumental for writers to use, he just didn't want someone as big as Leona and having her name put on it. The lines are very blurred but Avicii being credited on the song means it definitely wasn't 'blatant plagiarism.' Hopefully it goes Leona's way tomorrow. If not I think they will just release the video and treat it as a buzz single. Then let things die down before the second single comes.

I'm not sure what to think, I wouldn't be surprised if it was all Cowell, all I know is Leona is definitely an innocent party and she really doesn't deserve to be caught in all this :( I think letting it die down would be best tbh, rush releasing the 2nd single in place of Collide as planned on 4th Sept would harm things I think, keeping it all on track minus Collide (if she loses the case) would be the best option for sure.
August 8, 201113 yr Wouldn't she just have to call the single "Leona Lewis (feat. Avicii) 'Collide'" or is it not that simple?
August 8, 201113 yr Wouldn't she just have to call the single "Leona Lewis (feat. Avicii) 'Collide'" or is it not that simple? I thought that too but it sounds like if Avicii wins then she just can't release it full stop.
August 8, 201113 yr Wouldn't she just have to call the single "Leona Lewis (feat. Avicii) 'Collide'" or is it not that simple? I think he wants to be the main artist. So Avicii (ft. Leona Lewis) and obviously Syco don't want that. :P The court case has been adjourned until next Tuesday due to "new evidence and time constraints." I wonder what the new evidence is. Hopefully it can be settled out of court now.
August 8, 201113 yr Gone from 'funny' to sad faces. Gotcha. -_- Hope we find out today what to expect, if leona and her team lose I think they wouldnt release the video and they'd delete collide off Leona's youtube account. Would be such a waste :( It wasnt blatant plagiarism at all like Rain said, they arent that stupid. Its just misscommunication. Edited August 8, 201113 yr by Karma
August 8, 201113 yr I don't know much about this sort of law but I'm pretty sure if Avicii wins he has full control over Leona's track. He COULD (though I admit it's unlikely) permit her to release it if a deal was arranged to ensure he received more royalties. Or he could make sure he is a featured (or main) artist. OR he could just forbid her to release it altogether. I think the latter is most likely. I think it'll be interesting to see what happens, since this sort of stuff ends up in court all the time. It's just not a great start for Leona when this era is pretty make-or-break for her.
August 8, 201113 yr Avicii wants to release Fade Into Darkness as his own, and he's unlikely to be able to do that if Collide is released so if he wins he's not going to let it happen. If Fade Into Darkness is released I've no doubt it would be a big hit, at least as a big as his hit from last year. If he lets Collide to be released it won't be until next year as whichever one of the two comes second I'd say would be severely hampered given only a couple of months previously another song using exactly the same instrumental was out. It might not be blatent plagarism, but there's a massive misunderstanding somewhere which should give Avicii the win given he and his team have essentially done everything properly and for whatever reason one or both of the parties wasn't fully aware, although I certainly don't hold my breath with anything involving Syco and I'm certainly not going to say Avicii will win because I don't think he will, however I would be disappointed if it were to be allowed to be released as "Leona Lewis - Collide"
August 8, 201113 yr The court case has been adjourned until next Tuesday due to "new evidence and time constraints." I wonder what the new evidence is. Hopefully it can be settled out of court now. Disapointed with that though, as its another week we have to wait and be uncertain about the whole situation. Also surely they wont release the video untill they are 100% going ahead with this release, and radio may be waiting too. Edited August 8, 201113 yr by Karma
August 8, 201113 yr Whatever happens, she's gonna have another single out at X-Factor time which will more than likely guarantee her a #1 :/
August 8, 201113 yr Not sure why so many people think X Factor is the decider of everything, X Factor doesnt guarantee anyone a #1, the song has to have support from Radio/TV too, and ofcourse depends on competition, and quality of song, and fanbase. X Factor is just one promotion platform, and because its so popular, happens to be the biggest (also as it attracts music lovers who watch the show). Edited August 8, 201113 yr by Karma
August 8, 201113 yr Surely this can't still be getting released on 4th September with no video in sight and all this court case business halting plans?

Would be such a waste :( It wasnt blatant plagiarism at all like Rain said, they arent that stupid. Its just misscommunication. OK, what problem do you have against me? Everytime I say anything about Collide you quote me on it... I said it would be funny if Avicii won because of the reaction likely from stans like you... The sad face was for Leona being the innocent party, I wouldn't be too upset if she lost because I'm not fussed on the song tbh, it's my opinion which (SHOCK) I'm allowed to have! But whether I love the song or not, Leona IS the innocent party and it's her I feel sorry for because she doesn't deserve to be caught up in all this as all she wanted to do was release an upbeat single.
August 8, 201113 yr Surely this can't still be getting released on 4th September with no video in sight and all this court case business halting plans? The video has already been filmed & finished...just not released yet, as they're waiting for the all clear from this case first! There are still 3-4 weeks to go before release as well...though by the hearing next Tues, it'll be down to 19 days which will still give it time for a whirlwind push around the country's radio stations....it's not as if it involves thousands of miles travelling as it would in a massive country like USA, a few 'copter hops to the main one's, will cover a big %age of the listening population! The 'new evidence' was submitted by syco's team apparently, so it could be the evidence supports their case - maybe an email, fax or something..., if it was submitted by Avicii's team, I'd be very worried as their submission to the judge would've been finalised by now.
August 8, 201113 yr People can have different opinions, and people can like or dislike the song fair enough, but to think it would be 'funny' for Avicii to win and then go around having sad faces is just 2-faced and hyprocritical, and you're supossed to be a fan? INNOCENT Leona would be really upset if she couldnt release collide, she's really excited about this release & from what we see she's really passionate about it, so I for one wouldnt find anything 'funny' about Avicii winning. Thats my problem with you. Surely this can't still be getting released on 4th September with no video in sight and all this court case business halting plans? Yeah I'm not sure if it'll stay 4th Sep now, unless a video is out next week straight after court case is cleared up. But there is no point of the video being released and then finding out its not allowed to be released so they have to wait for confirmation. In all honesty i'd prefer a video out 2-3 weeks before release, i think to have it out 5/6/7 weeks before release is way too long! Edited August 8, 201113 yr by Karma
