Okay fine. Well, if Inna had released Till the World Ends it would've probably gone top 20. :( It's such a good song.

Although I don't think that many people buy based off the artists anyway, because then why is Loick Essien top 10 still? The only reason he can be up there is because people like his song (and the song actually got promotion ).

Inna? She's hardly the biggest success story.

Also i think some of it has a lot to do with artists, Loick Essien is new, 'cool', fresh RnB singer with a catchy tune, whereas Britney is old news and not so cool or relevant anymore, so when people see Britney Spears by the song they probably are just not interested. She's done it to herself though i think, her music isnt very appealing, its very unoriginal and not just the public but radio/tv are done with her too it seems in UK, just the way it is. Doing so well in US though so she's still making her money.

Artists are also very important when people are deciding what song to buy.

True. I also think a lot of girls fancy Loick Essien. Apparently he used to be a model or something.

To sum up, Britney isn't doing well because:

- Britney's fanbase is very small in the UK now

- She doesn't get much radio and MTV support anymore

- Lots of other artists are doing similar music to her

Yeah thats probably true.

Yep that sums it up really and:

- Her music fails to stand out or have any originality/uniqueness which stops it from making a bold impact on radio/tv or in the public eyes.

- She's irrelevant and passed it. (not in a mean way but shes passed her peak and has become irrelevant in UK's music market)

I agree with that, except, she, as a person, is not "past it" imo. The UK is letting her "pass by", as our so-called "country" does with a lot of good music.

But her name 'Britney Spears' is a brand name in music, and that 'brand' is past it, in the UK.

The Wanted #1 still, not as frontloaded as most people thought then, saying last week it'd start falling by wednesday and it was a non-#1  Thats proven them wrong.

A-Team #2! Greta longevity. Bounce still doing well at #8 while Tinchy & Dappy down to #54

SFTTR still #12 with INAD #11 still, example, pitbull, derulo, harris can all get out of top 10 now thanks. :heehee:

Beautiful People really benefited from price reduction too :o #22 when it had fallen out of top 40 at 99p :o

I Need a Dollar going top 10 could be a good thing for Set Fire to the Rain. Whoever falls out the top 10 will probably fall faster and end up behind Adele, then Adele will be #11 for when I Need a Dollar gets put back to 99p and falls out the top 10.

Thats exactly my way of looking at it :P + Its #17 in todays mids so i doubt it'd shoot to #11 so Adele should still stick and not drop on Sunday, and then hopefully top 10 next week? VIDEO?!

Yup.. I'm gonna go buy a Britney tape to play on my casette player ^_^ Just an example  No one in the UK buys casette tapes/players anymore, just like Britney went out of style - we have newer versions... Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Katy Perry who are all (IMO) better singers AND performers than Britney with better material, just like the iPod Touches of today. Crap example but you get the point.

Plus, it's not exactly appealing to kids to listen to songs from a pop star that their parents used to like.

Oh FFS. 'I Need A Dollar' is one of my least favourite songs of this year! I was really please to see it at #29 the other day, but now it's back into the top 10? :puke: Bloody price drop!

But surely this must show record companies what they need to do with NEW RELEASES, no?

Not sure about that... my parents didn't used to like Britney Spears, as old BS appealed to young girls not people in their late 30s  I used to love Britney as a young kid (only for 'Baby One More Time' and 'Toxic', btw - couldn't care less about her other songs at the time) Of course when I got older I'd discover 'Gimme More' But nowadays we have Rihanna, Ke$ha and Lady GaGa who are all better

Noooo set fire to the rain  #13 :(

Who overtook it? :o

Who overtook it? :o

Superbass #12, its been very close between those 2 for quite a while now with only a small gap so it'll probably keep switching around with it for a while, I just want it top 10! Is there seriously no news on a video yet?

Nicki

Come on you two, stopping swapping places with each other and overtake the 3 songs above you both to get top 10!

This! I want Nicki in top 10 too. There are 4 old songs that can just get out of that top 10 now once and for all and let Adele & Nicki in!

07 Katy Perry - Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F) 0.400037

08 Calvin Harris - Bounce 0.396375

09 Pitbull - Give Me Everything 0.396009

10 Example - Changed The Way You Kissed Me 0.367631

11 Aloe Blacc - I Need A Dollar 0.338338

12 Nicki Minaj - Super Bass 0.329000

13 ADELE - Set Fire To The Rain 0.321128

14 David Guetta - Where Dem Girls At? 0.285610

15 Enrique Iglesias, Usher & Lil Wayne - Dirty Dancer 0.281948

It's all very close at the moment - as soon as Nicki and ADELE go top 10 (if they do) they will easily shoot up to top 5!

So so close! Aloe may start falling before he gets top 10 never know, or he might go top 10 and hopefully Nicki & Adele will easily go past example once he falls out and then go top 10!

I cant see Superbass ever going top 10, i'd say SFTTR has more of a chance, especially WHEN A VIDEO IS OUT!

Is it Monday yet?! I want to see if Now will help Nicki out! (or if it's "album-only" I may have to kill someone!)

Nah, I don't mean like our parents.

Bearing in mind that a lot of people who liked Britney Spears in her prime were the type that would become teenage mothers. And also, her teenage fans from back in 2000 could be in their mid-20's now. It's possible that they have kids.
