Surely with Britney, the point is that she doesn't write any of her own stuff so she sings what she's given. The songs are pretty generic (whether they're better than other similar songs is subjective) so, unlike in the US where she still has a fanbase that'll buy whatever she puts her name to, over here she has to come over and promote to make the songs a success. It's been well-documented that recently she's shown no interest in doing so, and would rather sit on her arse all day smoking cigarettes. The record company has to make her do SOMETHING because she still earns them money across the pond so they release her material here anyway, where it flops.

I thought it was 59p, but someone (it might've even been you) posted a list of 59p songs in the top 200 yesterday, and it wasn't on there.

 

Yeah, I was surprised to see another Tracy Chapman song up there. I've seen a couple of other songs by Journey high up iTunes before aswell in the past.

The only reason we don't discuss Britney very much is because she isn't in the chart much. Likewize, we discuss Adele, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Jessie J, etc. a lot because they're in the charts a lot. That's natural in an iTunes thread.

To be fair most of the posts in this thread are pretty embarrassing.. I'l never understand why some people seem to think their opinion is fact and never let an argument go. And the fact that there are arguments based on chart positions in the first place is beyond me.

I'm more tolerant of the posts in this thread as I've pretty much been a part of it since I joined the site. But some of Eric's posts, especially when it's in an argument and ESPECIALLY when he continues to refuse to spell the word 'wise' correctly, just make me cringe. It's a shame as Eric is normally a pretty decent poster...

I'm really sorry. I just keep forgetting. After years and years of doing it, it just becomes a habit. Even when people tell you not to do it, it's not that I don't want to change, it's just that it's not the sort of thing you can stop doing overnight. It's a habit. A bit like masturbation.

 

Also, just to clarify. That 3 page discussion over Britney Spears wasn't an arguement. We actually all pretty much agreed with each other. Britney doesn't get much promotion in the UK anymore, and she's just not that relevant here anymore. The only bit we disagreed on was whether Till the World Ends was epic, and that's just opinion. People ridiculed me for finding it epic, but I just do, but I appreciate that they do not.
