I heard it and didn't like it AT ALL but now I've heard it again I like it much better. Given radio play - which it will be - it may well be a grower. I do think she needed to move away from the sound of her last two albums and show a bit of variety and she seems to be doing that.

I'm not a Leona fan particularly as she isn't my cup of tea but she is a very talented girl and it's good to know she at least is having some kind of creative input - that label doesn't inspire me - they are far too "cash in quick" and cheapskate for my liking normally.

Other people don't need you to tell them what to do.

I'm not telling anyone what to do i'm stating a possibility.

Lmao at people here thinking it will become a success just because they want it to  No doubt they'll blame on-air-on-sale/promotion/Reggie Yates when it inevitably fails to live up to their expectations.

I say it'll scrape to about #8 before plunging down the chart. This is a truly BAFFLING career move - no club is ever going to play a Leona Lewis song so she's not going to get many young people interested, AND she's going to alienate the older audience that made her so successful in the first place with this new sound. The fall cometh.

You do realise Happy was huge in the clubs, well the jason nevins remix but still Leona.

Exactly, i was hearing it everywhere round when it was out.

Even Adele is being played in a lot of places this year with so many remixes going around, so not sure of 'Danny's' point..

Please stop imitating my posts because it's not even funny the third time.

As far as I'm concerned you only repeat yourself over and over again about how amazing this song is, that it will grow on you after only 58 listens, or 56 if you're lucky. It's just your activity is pretty much pointless because people decide if they want to listen to the song again or not. And you come off a bit patronising with your constant 'I'm glad', 'Nice to hear', ' :yahoo: ' to positive comments about the song in the AF forum as if it was you who is responsible for this track. Nevermind at least FIVE posts about how the Afrojack remix is amazing.

I don't want to sound/act like your average iLoon so I shall leave this pointless arguement at that before it goes large scale.

Calm down guys...its just personal opinion ya know.

I'm wondering why Leona needs auto-tune?. She doesn't imo, so why have they auto-tuned her voice in parts of this song?.

Ive heard this song quite a few times now and its not really grabbing me at all. I want to hear her singing a proper song, with real vocals, like she used to.

Its not supposed to be funny at all, you're just being petty and i'm showing you how you're coming across by posting the same way back. I think you may need to work on your communication skills.

As the above poster said its all down to personal opinion. SOME people will grow to the song after a few listens, fact. Its a possibility for some people, not for all no, but its possible for some people. Some people will like it instantly, others wont at all, like any other song.

Anyway moving on from your pointless search for an argument. -_-

Heard 'Collide' again on Radio1 earlier, i'm sure they'll back it.

How is Leona Lewis' 'Collide' a US song? She's British and it hasn't even been given a US release yet?

I wouldn't say it's GaGa/Rihanna territory. The lyrics and pace are still very true to Leona. Just because it has a dance-inspired sound to it, it doesn't mean it's Rihanna/GaGa music.

Basically, Leona can't win. If she came out with ballads or her previous sound, she'd be called irrelevant, boring and dated and now that she's released an up-tempo, she's getting criticised for it being a huge step away from her old sound.

I appreciate that you might be one of the ballad Leona lovers anyway but it's just frustrating in general how the girl can't win.

my bad, I went off on a tangent and confused the issue, I was trying to say the reason we often get summer songs not released to autumn is because they take a while to come over from the US, so the practice is not unusual (although that is not the explanation in this case).

I totally agree with your point though she can't win. I feel she would get on better if it wasn't syco though- their cynicism is all over this and I think she would be creatively guided more or afforded more freedom elsewhere, even another big label.

I am a leona ballad fan but I also really liked "outta my head" where she was clearly experimenting with up tempo- it sounded fairly modern but not derivative of everyone else .the controversy over the sample isn't great either. Leaving a bad taste.

Definitely not instant...

I do not know if it will grow on me in the future but for the time being it sounds so cheap and not Leona... Her vocals somehow don't fit. I feel she is oversinging a song that would never see the light of day if it was wasn't Leona singing. And it is not dancey either! What are they trying to accomplish with a such song is beyond my imagination. It is different to what she's done before but if you change the music then it may sound familiar. Ballad singing over a (not great) dance tempo? 'Cruuuuush' sounds painful after the 100th time and 'we can colide' finshes the chorus too soon.

It should end up within top 5, but it is imo her worst single to date. I am hugely dsappointed...

I hope it will sound different when I listen to it tomorrow.

share the same hopes/fears.

Sure R1 will A list though. This is a new lead single from her, she's a big artist and they always receive much more Interest. It's usually later singles that get passed over if the campaign is flopping. Also they're already playing it, it should do ok

I think 'Collide' will most likely do about as well as 'Happy' selling around 80-90k in its first week but will unlikely hang around the charts for months. Having listened to it a couple more times it's slowly turning into 'When Love Takes Over' just without the Euphoric chorus. 'Collide' does have a big chorus but I still think it falls slightly flat. :(

Anyways, 'Happy' would've easily been no. 1 when released had Fergie not outsang Leona on The X Factor. Leona won't have that going against her this time round so maybe she will get to #1 but even so I still reckon she will be continue to be remembered for 'Bleeding Love' and 'Run'. Hopefully Leona will be allowed to do a "Beyonce" and her second single will be a sublime ballad et la 'Best Thing I Never Had' and if promoted well and given an early December release could give Leona another shot at getting possibly two #1 singles by the end of 2011.

I agree with all of this except for the bit about Fergie "outsinging" Leona on X Factor.

I assume that was tongue in cheek but if not then :faint:

I can actually see this song being pulled from being released. However if it isnt i have no doubt that it will reach number 1

What?

Has anyone got a HQ version of the Song. The only one i can seem to find on the web is one that is real low
I don't know about this song. It should be good, but it just lacks power tbh. Not in her voice, but in the instrumental and words. It just feels like it goes nowhere.

Sounds so epic, Leona's vocals   with that beat = brilliant.

Starryeyed there are already quite a few great club remixes out there, and i'm sure there will be loads more to come in the upcoming months. :w00t: Cant wait to hear this in the clubs!

I do not know many people that could possible outsing Leona, and Fergie is definitely not one of them. MMHW was just a *better* (?) song coming from a huge era from the BEPs.

Collide is a grower but it is still not good enough to be 1st single of the 'new-Leona' era. So much has been said about her wanting to sing uptempo but is this really it? If you strip out the music it could be as low-tempo as Run (actually even slower). All will depend on her promotion now. I guess she will get lots of airplay and perhaps lot of video play if the video is surprisingly good. When does the XF live premier? Perhaps they'll get her a slot on the first week. I do not like Pixie's song at all... Perhaps somebody else will eventually steal the show.

I think so, I find the original one so generic :(.

I think that will play as one of its strengths though. I, and i'm sure Leona & her team, and most leona fans, dont want Leona completely abandoning her great sound she already has, its just it needs to be slightly adapted to stay relevant with the chart in todays music climate, and i think 'Collide' is the result of that. :)
