I also don't know what the download tracking week is and whether WFL lines up well with it or not.

Not really. I think the tracking week is Monday-Sunday, so a Thursday release would be the equivalent of a Wednesday release in the UK? That would also be why songs tend to be released Monday or Tuesday in the US, so it would take a lot to debut at #1. It isn't even meant to impact radio yet, and 'Cheers' is still doing well on airplay so it'll be relying on downloads at this stage.

I was expecting to see Riharris at #1 by now. (Well, not exactly right now, as I expected to be at school at this time, but I've got a horrible cold so I'm taking a day off)

Hopefully it'll get to #1 later.

I really hope Rihanna & Calvin can still get to #1 but they'll probably start falling soon :(

Paradise is holding up incredibly well so far! Still #14. :o

Hopefully she waits a while before promoting it more and making a video, to give Cheers a chance to shine.
It's just stupid releasing a new single from an album when your single from the last album just entered the top ten. Why is Rihanna rushing this release out?

Probably they want to give her time to release at least 2 singles before the next album comes out. She´s not the type of artist that sells albums based on her credibility alone, people only buy her albums when they have multiple hits. And obviously, the album has to come in November to benefit from the seasonal period. Her pattern in America is pretty much what Girls Aloud used to do in the UK a few years ago. Milk the most from the album during November/December, have some hits during the following year but without astonishing album sales, then the followup comes in the next November.

Just realized that the August thread for this has continued into the ending days of September.
Thank GOD, was beginning to think she'd never get back there! Fingers crossed she can build up a lead and stay there this time. Her airplay is quickly catching Maroon 5's (gaining on it by roughly 2mill a day despite Maroon 5 still increasing rapidly :o) so a return to #1 on the Hot 100 should hopefully be on the cards next week.

She's filmed a video and it premieres on MTV this Thursday:

A lock to return to Hot 100 #01 position next week....
