August 15, 201113 yr Leona's new song is absolutely fucking terrible, and surly The Saturdays wont actually last that much longer? End of the day, I couldn't care who get's to #1. Would be nice if Sugababes reached the top spot though, there song is TOO bad actually.
August 16, 201113 yr Living with the songs for a bit longer I've started to hate Leonas. I want The Sats to win, but I don't think they will.
August 16, 201113 yr I reckon The Saturday's arn't out of the running JUST yet... Definitely be between The Sats & Pixie though hands down, doesn't matter too much though I reckon The Sats will get their biggest first week sales with AFU.
August 16, 201113 yr Leona/Avicii situation now appears resolved:- Tweets from Avicii: "So happy to move on with Leona and focus on having a hit together.""We've finally come to an agreement with Leona on all the issues. So happy to move on and focus on hit making!" "Glad to FINALLY have resolved situation with Leona. Music is the answer!"
August 16, 201113 yr http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2011/aug/1...-avicii-collide Leona Lewis resolves legal dispute with Swedish DJ over new single Simon Cowell's Syco label and Avicii reach agreement over instrumental used in Leona Lewis's forthcoming single Collide Leona Lewis and her record label – Simon Cowell's Syco – have agreed to work with a 22-year-old Swedish DJ after settling a legal dispute over The X Factor winner's forthcoming single, Collide. The up-and-coming dance producer, Avicii, last week attempted to block the release of Lewis's single claiming that the instrumental was a direct copy of his own song, Fade Into Darkness. Syco is understood to have reached an 11th-hour agreement with Avicii's record label, Ministry of Sound, over the single, meaning that it will be released as planned on 4 September. In a statement released on Tuesday, Syco said: "It is announced today that Leona Lewis and Avicii will work together on the forthcoming single of Collide. Collide will be released on 4 September. Since getting its first radio play in the UK it has received rave reviews and is already topping club charts across the country." Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Syco did not return requests for comment. Ministry of Sound declined to comment. Avicii – whose real name is Tim Bergling – alleged that Syco executives planned to release a "straight re-recording" of his own Fade Into Darkness single without the consent of Ministry of Sound. Ministry sent out an instrumental version of Avicii's track to various singers in October last year in the hope they would complete the song. Earlier this year, the DJ's team received a vocal track – called Collide – which they rejected in favour of another singer's efforts, producing a song called Fade Into Darkness. It was planned to release Fade Into Darkness in October, with a heavy marketing push in the hope the song would be a hit. However, Collide ended up being heard by executives at Cowell's Syco label and the song was chosen for Leona Lewis to release as the lead single on her forthcoming album. Bergling's manager, Arash Pournouri, claims he was contacted by a music executive who said the track had been pitched as a potential single for Lewis. According to Pournouri, he did not consent to Lewis adopting the track because he was already committed to releasing Fade Into Darkness. The Hackney-born singer's Collide was first played on BBC Radio 1 on 15 July and made available on YouTube shortly afterwards.
August 16, 201113 yr Leona it is then, especially if they re-work it slightly and make it more 'dancey'
August 16, 201113 yr I would've hoped they'd make it less dancey, if anything. Or they should do like with some of her previous singles, like Happy, where there was a very stripped back version, and a dance remix, which both used to be played on the radio in roughly equal amounts.
August 16, 201113 yr I still can't see Leona getting to number 1, it'll be Ed Sheeran/Example from the week before. The Saturdays number 3 and Pixie Lott/Leona rounding off the top 5 in whichever order.
August 16, 201113 yr Where are all these rave reviews? Syco hype as usual. :P You know Syco over the top hype makes up for well organised promotion and getting good original songs. :P
August 16, 201113 yr I'll end this discussion now, its clear that Melanie C will be number 1 with 'Think About It!! Pisses all over Pixie, Leona etc... ;)
August 16, 201113 yr I still can't see Leona getting to number 1, it'll be Ed Sheeran/Example from the week before. The Saturdays number 3 and Pixie Lott/Leona rounding off the top 5 in whichever order. What makes you think Pixie will be lower than The Sats? I think she's guaranteed to be the highest new entry and very likely to be #1 :o
August 16, 201113 yr Only on BuzzJack would this be described as the chart battle of the year. I don't think any of these 4 are guaranteed to be #1, but of them, the one with the best chance BY FAR is Pixie Lott. She's the only one who there was actually anticipation for new material from in the general public (i.e. outside of the hardcore fans of girl groups/singers that inhabit forums like this). The other 3 acts are all coming off last albums that underperformed badly and are now LONG past their best, or, in the case of the Saturdays, never properly got off the ground in the first place.
August 16, 201113 yr What makes you think Pixie will be lower than The Sats? I think she's guaranteed to be the highest new entry and very likely to be #1 :o I think the fact the song's been held back so much will generate loss of interest, I'm really unsure though, she could be the highest of the 3, I just have a feeling she'll be at 4 with The Sats at 3, but it could be the way around. Whichever way, the top 2 will definitely be Example and Ed Sheeran.
August 16, 201113 yr I'll end this discussion now, its clear that Melanie C will be number 1 with 'Think About It!! Pisses all over Pixie, Leona etc... ;) This, a million times THIS :P
August 16, 201113 yr Snow Patrol's newie is also out this week, probably not a number 1, but top 10 looks likely
August 16, 201113 yr I think the fact the song's been held back so much will generate loss of interest, I'm really unsure though, she could be the highest of the 3, I just have a feeling she'll be at 4 with The Sats at 3, but it could be the way around. Whichever way, the top 2 will definitely be Example and Ed Sheeran. Songs being held back a long time affects their longevity more than their peak - in fact, it probably helps their peak (although there's no way to prove this one way or the other).
