July 30, 201113 yr I'd like to raise you the gems that are: 'Like This', 'Unity' & 'Stole' :P (Also 'Dilemma' & 'When Love Takes Over', but I count them as Nelly and David Guetta's songs.) 'Like This' really is under appreciated. :(
July 30, 201113 yr i love like this!! Here I Am is not that bad , ofcourse its alot different to Ms Kelly (this album flopped / underperformed)!! Im dat chick is also best performing song on Itunes disregarding the singles! Think Down For Whatever will be a big hit. The album is number 21 on itunes album chart which is very impressive seeing that it has no promo / single release here !
July 30, 201113 yr Author 18 22 Lily Allen 374 Highest Position: 4 Number of Votes: 25 Most Known Hits: Smile, The Fear, LDN Bitch Slap(s): 1 (The Controller) http://www.celebritypicnic.com/celebrities/lily-allen/mainimage.jpg Never liked Lily Allen. Her continued popularity continues to boggle me. She does have some decent songs but for the most part, I can't quite place my finger on the dislike. Despite not releasing any material at all last year she climbs into the top 20 (one of 5 artists to do so or debut). Lily is of course the daughter of Keith Allen - the douche behind the 1998 football related hit 'Vindaloo'. In her own right, she's released two top 2 albums in the UK both which have sold in the region of a million copies. She's also scored two chart toppers, though 2009's 'The Fear' is comparatively bigger to 2006's 'Smile' due to the shifting market. Her second effort is FAR better than 'Alright Still', but I still felt something was lacking. I think it's a combination of her personality, voice and lyrics that grate on me a little. Especially on songs like 'Littlest Things' which are nothing more than a wail to my ears... -RgOm_WJKpE 17 24 Avril Lavigne 379 Highest Position: 1 (Doug, LaLa2586) Number of Votes: 21 Most Known Hits: Girlfriend, Sk8ter Boi, My Happy Ending http://sp7.fotolog.com/photo/7/56/65/justin__bieber_1/1311367980699_f.jpg Next up we have Avril Lavigne. I was pretty hooked on the Canadian pop-rock princess back in the day. Her debut album 'Let Go' was flawless when I was in a vat of angst just perfect for a marathon of 'Dawson's Creek'. Every track is still pretty listenable, despite the fact that the material has not aged all that well. Of course 'Under My Skin' released in 2004 will always be my favourite album from Avril. It's darker and moodier and shows a decent evolution in Avril's style. 'The Best Damn Thing' in 2007 took a MASSIVE step back, though is arguably the most pop fueled effort released by Avril and home to her biggest hit 'Girlfriend'. The singer finally returned in 2010 with 4th studio album 'Goodbye Lullaby'. There's some pretty decent tracks on there such as 'Push' and 'Wish You Were Here' which are more than capable of standing up to the might of Avril's back catalogue, but for the whole, the album was very samey and not in a good way. Sales wise its under performed suggesting that the career of Avril is heading down the gutter. It's to be expected when the album lacks any sort of major stand out track when her contemporaries are releasing gems like 'Firework', 'Bad Romance' and the like. She evidently remains a BJ favourite though, shooting up 7 places. dGR65RWwzg8
July 30, 201113 yr Author 16 16 Gwen Stefani 418 Highest Position: 1 (▲▲▲) Number of Votes: 25 Most Known Songs: What You Waiting For, Don't Speak, The Sweet Escape http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vXWP4-N3Atw/TS-u3YY_1HI/AAAAAAAAAOo/aOocWlWa8UI/s1600/gwen-stefani2.jpg Next up we have Gwen Stefani who is strong enough to remain in the same position she achieved last year! I was always more of a fan of No Doubt's material than Gwen's solo output and the cogs have been grinded into motion as the band have reunited and are expected to unleash their first new album of material since 2002 at some point this year. Other than the massive 'Don't Speak', I think 'Simple Kind Of Life' and 'Just A Girl' are worthy of mentions from the No Doubt back catalogue. There's loads more but I confess I haven't listened to the albums in a while :( Gwen became one of the biggest popstars on the planet for a couple of years back in the mid-00s with two successful studio albums and a string of worldwide hits. I think her appeal is the fact she can blend the genres of Ska, pop and rock whilst in No Doubt and then go and release something as chavaliscious as 'Hollaback Girl' for instance and dominate the urban orientated American market. One thing I do miss about solo-Gwen is those sexy little Japanese floozies she always had running around with her. Good times. QtTj4cramPM 15 9= Christina Aguilera 438 Highest Position: 2 Number of Votes: 27 Most Known Hits: Hurt, Beautiful, Fighter http://mbkentertainmentblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/christina-aguilera1.jpg* Next up the first of 3 artists to fall out of last year's top 10 and not surprisingly, it's the biggest flop of them all in the form of Christina Aguilera. Bursting onto the scene in late 1999 with the chart topping 'Genie In A Bottle', Christina cemented her status as one of the bubblegum pop royals alongside N*Sync and Britney. She had a fantastic run of singles during the 2000s including one of the best pop albums of the last decade in the form of 'Stripped'. Sadly, Christina likes to leave huge gaps between her releases. She's like a less interesting version of Kate Bush in that respect. Not to mention that her output has slowly gotten worse over the years. I was never fond of 'Back To Basics'. It was too 'show-off' to me and the less said about 'Bionic' the better. Whether or not Christina will ever be able to mount a full scale comeback who knows? She's currently part of NBC's 'The Voice', which has gone down a storm in the US and has even had a moderate sized hit with Maroon 5 whose frontman Adam Leveine was also part of the judging panel. Then again if J-Lo can do it why can't Christina? xB7pQpNx-F4 * image may be out of date but recent pictures show her looking really porky :(
July 30, 201113 yr Author And that's it until Tuesday I'm afraid! Adele Alicia Keys Beyonce Britney Spears Jennifer Lopez Katy Perry Kelly Clarkson Kylie Minogue Lady Gaga Leona Lewis Madonna Nicki Minaj P!nk Rihanna These are the 14 artists left. Nicki f***ING Minaj though? SERIOUSLY? -_- Anyway I will lead us into the top 10 whence I return.
July 30, 201113 yr You are doing a great job with the list. 'Hella Good' by No Doubt. I remember back in primary school. I was involved in a dance trope to this song after a P.E lesson. Only lasted a day Also GrAmii. With the highest position are you going to mention who gave the artist that position during the voting?, we could say who voted for whom. Just an idea Edited July 30, 201113 yr by ukcsf11
July 30, 201113 yr Author I only kept records of who people put at #1 and who they gave point deductions too. But I did keep a note of the highest position every artist was placed. I just didn't keep a note of WHO put them there
July 30, 201113 yr Only really care for Avril out of those 4, she's wonderful and has some truly amazing songs in her back catalogue Lily Allen is alright enough, I guess. Can't believe Nicki Minaj is still to come. Top 14? :o
July 30, 201113 yr I really like Nicole's album, but I don't think she should have been placed anywhere near the top twenty. I'll wait to hear future records from her before judging her, because whereas I really liked the singles and some of the tracks on the album, the second half just feels very rushed. I've never been a big fan of Robyn, but I did quite like the 'Body Talk' era - especially 'Hang With Me', and 'Call Your Girlfriend' is really growing on me. I've not listened to any of her old albums, but really think I should. As IF Kelly Rowland is below Avril Lavigne! And Shakira too! Kelly's latest album is so good - I'd say it's my favourite of hers, but I really liked 'Simply Deep', so I'll just give it time before deciding. I really look forward to the UK edition too. Shakira will always have a place in my heart, despite the rather weak and disappointing 'Sale El Sol' album. Singles-wise, she's pretty much always been spot on (bar 'Gypsy'; eugh). Hopefully she'll come back in a few years and have another huge album in the UK. Avril is boring, uninspired and her music is just weak. She's had some good singles, but they'll never be enough to outweigh the awfulness that was 'Goodbye Lullaby' - seriously dull album, and after the amount of time she took recording it, you really would have expected there to be a development in her sound. I still have much love for Lily, whose second album was such an improvement on 'Alright, Still', it's difficult to tell they're by the same artist. I really hope she releases another album in the future, because it would be such a waste of potential not to have a follow-up. I also long for a new Gwen album, but with new No Doubt coming soon, it's unlikely. It's a shame that 'The Sweet Escape' was such a step-down from the greatest of 'L. A. M. B.', because it could've been so good. I still really love the title track from the former though, even if it is an unpopular choice. I don't really have much of an opinion of Christina. I've never really paid much attention to her albums (apart from 'Bionic', which on the whole was pretty awful - but there were more than enough decent tracks that could've been rounded into a normal length set), but I do really like most of her singles. 'Fighter', for one, will always remain a favourite song of mine 4ever. --- It looks a bit dodgy having Nicki Minaj so high up - I do love her album, but it definitely has its weak points, and it certainly doesn't warrant her such a high placing here. I hope the follow-up is as great as it though, and maybe she can have some proper success in the UK soon after the amazing 'Super Bass'. I really want a Beyoncé win, but it's going to be all too predictable with GaGa taking the crown again. Hopefully Bey will at least climb into the top three though, and I wouldn't mind Katy Perry joining her in the top five.
July 30, 201113 yr ^^^^^^All true preach it Theo. Nicole is way too high and her album is mediocre at best.Kelly has totally gone in the right direction with Here I Am and sounds amazing. It would have been good to have more ballads but the songs are really strong.I really like Nicky Minaj but after 1 album she is far too high and has not really done anything groundbreaking.Christina should have been Top 10 but her last era was a disaster but I hope she can comeback with something strong. Beyonce for No 1.
July 30, 201113 yr Nicki Minaj is NOT to far up think shes had a good year and gained a lot of fans with each single hoping beyonce wins though think desreves to
July 30, 201113 yr Avril should not be that high, I was a fan a few years back and she still has a few good songs to her name, but I think she's actually the type of artist you tend to grow out of - hence why the new album hasn't done as near as well as the others. Love Gwen, the second solo album obviously had nothing on the first but on the whole her solo career gave us some brilliant songs. Cannot wait for new No Doubt material. Haven't always been a Lily fan, but I've come round to her recently I gotta admit. I preferred the second album to the first, and to be honest I think her making a comeback in the near future is inevitable. Disappointed to see Christina fall, mostly because of some of the acts that have climbed ahead of her. 'Bionic' was a bit shit, but it had some good moments on occasions. Here general descend into hot mess territory, alongside seemingly only getting a divorcing to get some inspiration for the next album, still make me love her though. Nicki Minaj is really the stand-out WTF inclusion in the top 14. I voted for her fairly highly, but I did not expect a position much higher than the 30's. I'm rather hoping Lopez isn't top 10 aswell.
July 30, 201113 yr I don't quite share the general consensus here on Lily, both albums are pretty great but I do prefer Alright Still due in no small part to it being my soundtrack to my all time favourite summer, 2006  Love the ska-pop sound and the originality, the follow up was more varied, better produced and had more 'hits' on it I guess but didn't have the same 'LOL ' moments for me and I just have a huge personal connection to Alright Still which I lack with It's Not Me, It's You. Smile, LDN, Alfie, Littlest Things, Everything's Just Wonderful, Knock 'Em Out - all absolutely fantastc - the b-sides that era were great too - Nan You're A Window Shopper and Cheryl Tweedy in particular
July 30, 201113 yr Out of those left I'm hoping for a Rihanna win! Although it seems a bit odd to see Nicki Minaj amongst the majority of them, I still prefer her material over most of those left! Yes, she's only had one album, but she's had like a million mixtapes so she's definitely got the material. Hopefully Kylie will be out soon.
July 30, 201113 yr I'd be happy with a Rihanna, Kylie or Madonna win. Honestly I think Gaga still has a lot to prove and it's too premature to be calling her the best at what she does.
July 30, 201113 yr I mean I'd consider myself a really big Nicki fan (as I was jamming to "Still I Rise" in 2009! And I put her as high at #17 and even that was a little much. Edited July 30, 201113 yr by dannjohn3
July 31, 201113 yr Lots of overrated artists there imo. Never really got the fascination with Robyn, Shakira or Avril. I also think Gwen and Kelly Rowland are too high. I love Lily but don't see how she climbed. And poor Xtina, I've loved all her stuff but she really needs another Stripped moment.
July 31, 201113 yr Ugh... NEVER got the Avril love, Best Damn Thing era aside. What The Hell is OK too. Yay for Gwen making it this far, love L.A.M.B. and The Sweet Escape honestly isn't bad either, plus she was in No Doubt! Love Lily and Xtina too. Avril - Never got the love really, Best Damn Thing era aside, and I guess WTH is OK too. I did listen to Goodbye Lullaby actually, it was quite dull bar a few tracks, she should be lower imo. Gwen - Love this woman, didn't expect her to make it this far but glad she did! L.A.M.B was amazing and while The Sweet Escape paled it comparison it wasn't bad either. Plus she was in NO DOUBT fgs  Lily - I thought she be top 20, well deserved too, with songs like Smile, LDN and The Fear under her belt! Christina - Tiny bit overrated imo, I'd have placed her lower but she does have AMAZING singles (particularly Hurt, Beautiful, Can't Hold Us Down and Fighter). Bionic was a bit shit but I did love a few tracks on it, and didn't get the hate for it tbh. I do f***ing LOVE Minaj but she really shouldn't be above Gwen, Lily or Christina tbh after one album (a great album, but nonetheless only one, and while it's incredibly strong overall there ARE a couple of weak tracks and based on just the album I definitely wouldn't place her top 14! I'm expecting the inevitable Gaga win (she is my fave singer so good on her), but I'd be happy with Adele, Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Britney or Madonna tbh, and I love everyone in the top 14 anyway!
