Imo, Britney is disgustingly high. She doesn't even deserve to be top 40. Other than that, the top 10 is quite respectable. I hope we don't get a predictable winner in the form of Adele or GaGa. I have a feeling they will be in the top 3 along with Kylie or someone.

Alicia is the perennial underdog. Element Of Freedom is definitely her most consistent album to date. I know some people think she's become a bit vanilla but I liked the experimentation of various sounds within the R&B genre on that album. This Bed is one of my favourites, should've been a single.

Didn't realize Alicia came 6th last year!? I think 11th is high enough.

Me too, As I Am was brilliant, especially No-One, Teenage Love Affair and Superwoman. Freedom is her best album yet for me though.

I'd have liked to have seen JLo Top 10, but 14 is still alright. GaGa or Bey for the win.

An expected fall out of the top 10 for Alicia I suppose, I've always been a fan but it was really the Element Of Freedom that made me appreciate her more, and I'd agree that it has been her best album. I'm hoping the wait for album #5 won't be that long.

Jennifer's position seems acceptable enough. Upon her comeback, I was quite surprised to realise how much of her back catalogue I actually really liked having previously dismissed it as mostly not very good at all. I don't think 'Love?' was a hugely strong album though.

'Pink Friday' wasn't an album that I loved to start with, but it grew and despite my feelings that she is too high on this countdown, I still adore Nicki so I won't complain too much.

A shame but an inevitability to see Leona out of the top 10, 'Echo' was good if unexciting, and I'm hoping the next album does not disappoint.

 

There's nothing too horrendous in the top 10, I don't want Katy to be much higher though, and I don't really want a win for either Gaga or Britney.

love all of the top 8 I listed actually. kylie is my second favourite of all time behind avril (I may have voted differently?) with pink very shortly following. gaga wouldn't be as high on my list if it wasn't for her brilliant new album, which I could actually say is my favourite of the year (yes, it even beats avril's new album! :o) britney and katy also have some brilliant songs, madonna, rihanna and kelly are the same but on a lesser scale.

then there are the bottom two which will probably finish really high up. adele is... ok. mainly MOR (bar 'chasing pavements' and 'set fire to the rain', which are amazing :wub:) alrhough 'rolling in the deep' is disgustingly overrated. never understood the fascination for it, never will. :puke:

and finally, there's that. it. beyonce. imo, the most overrated artist of all time. she has, literally only one or two songs which interest me, the rest are complete BLEH. 'run the world (girls)' remains the worst song of the year. dire noise. :puke:

I loved how all the Kylie fans suddenly showed up and put her in first place, boosting her into the top 10 for a second consecutive year. In the process, more people put her at #1 in their chart than any other artist. The Australian pop princess released her 11th studio album 'Aphrodite' last year and despite the amazing 'All The Lovers' and a couple of other gem, I wasn't that sold on it tbh. It was a major step down from 'X, though I'm sure I'm of the minority with that opinion. Kylie has been releasing music for over two decades and has experimented with a heap of genres over the course of her career. After the mid 1990s, it seemed that Kylie's career was over, however, a pair of golden hot pants and a revived disco sound saw Kylie storm back to the top of the charts in 2000, a decade after her last chart topping single. Following on from her 'Light Years' album, she released the Cathy Dennis penned 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' in 2001 and the rest is history....

 

Ohhhh! :o I thought she'd be higher than 10th considering her 'Aphrodite'-era was a success here on Buzzjack! I was kinda hoping Madonna would be out first, but ah well. As long as it ain't Kelly, Britney or RiRi. :wub:

And in my opinion, the true queen of every other bitch in this countdown is Madonna. Years before, she became BFFs with Timbaland, wore a hideous purple leotard and stole starving African children from their homes, Madonna was the ultimate female popstar. She bombarded the charts constantly from 1984-1995 never missing the top 10 with her endless releases. She may not be the most talented vocalist, but Madonna's ever changing image and visual exploits have kept her at the top of her game for nearly 30 years. I've always felt her input since 'Ray Of Light' has been pretty awful with a rare return to form in 2005 with 'Confessions On A Dancefloor'. She then decided to release the hideous 'Hard Candy' which is the perfect way to destroy your perfect discography. Here's Madonna at numero 9. My commentary is a bit screwed because I'm watching 'True Blood' heh.
