Speaking of which, are there any other songs beside 'Don't Stop Believin'' and 'Make You Feel My Love' which got tracklisted years after their release?

Some 80s songs which were re-released in the 90s e.g. Vienna and Relax... there's a Dusty Springfield song on Now 40.

But people on a chart forum probably have a better idea of what will flop or not than the compilers of Now That's What I Call Music! :P

Pretty sure they're compiled by one guy (Ashley Abrams) and I get the impression that he's quite tuned into the charts, many of his pre-release 'WTF' picks have gone on to prove the doubters wrong and be huge - Michael Andrews/Gary Jules - Mad World and Room 5 - Make Luv stick out in my mind.

Dusty Springfield - You Don't Have To Say You Love Me (Made Now 42 in 1999 following Dusty's death)

Mint Royale - Singin' In The Rain (Made Now 70 in 2008 after hitting #1)

A couple of songs featured twice in the same form I believe;

Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight (Now 1/Now 68)

N-Trance - Set You Free (Now 30/Now 50)

Peter Andre - Mysterious Girl (Now 34/Now 57)

I'm sure there are others besides...

He must be getting a bit out of it now though if he thought Who Dat Girl and I Want You (Hold On To Love) would become hits

As an avid Now collector, I always find the summer Now's don't have the high standards of music as the Easter/Christmas releases as they're the ones that always include the random WTF tracks or the flops.

Biggest WTF for me was on Now 50 when someone thought DJ Q Feat MC Bonez - You Wot! would be a big hit. I don't know what the hell this Ashely bloke was thinking putting that on :puke2: . That's got to be by far the worst song ever to make a Now

I suppose it wasn't outside the realms of possibility to think that the former could have caught on. It didn't exactly have a lot of airplay/TV support which was rather surprising!

I Want You was never going to be a hit of any sort though, and I agree that he seems to be losing his touch a bit in that respect - pretty much all of the 2007 onwards WTF inclusions have flopped. You Wot, Like It Like That, Waiting 4, I Want You, Who Dat Girl etc...

I agree about "You Wot?!". John Lennon's "Imagine" was on Now 44 or something, wasn't it? A 1999 edition of Now anywho.

Now 45, Disc 2 Track 23.

Robbie Williams appears the most times in the 79 Now album series so far... making 34 appearances in total on the Now albums (including 6 with Take That and 1 with Gary Barlow).

I personally initially thought Swedish House Mafia's One was a bit of a WTF inclusion, but most people (including you) disagreed and obviously that's not only been a big top 10 hit, but it's been constantly in the chart in one form or another since its release because people keep copying it

did You Wot? or Se:sa's Like This Like That (same Now I think) even make the top 100? I was very surprised by they're inclusions, although they did actually sound like they could've been hits at the time

50 and 63 respectively (and they weren't the same Now, as Se:Sa charted in 2007 and DJ Q in 2008 :P)

One was a good recent call actually now you mention it! It was always going to be huge  I actually thought that it would be bigger than #7 but hey ho, it had far more cultural impact than that peak suggests. I still bought the remix EP even though I had it on the Now album.

"My Girl" by The Temptations was on Now 21, and "American Pie" by Don McLean was on Now 20. "Avenues & Alleyways" by Tony Christie on Now 61

Another one that was a complete chart failure (I think) was "Walk Like A Champion" by Kaliphz featuring Prince Naseem on Now 33.

I'm pretty sure the N-Trance one was a different mix in 2001 from 1995. I'll have to dig out the CDs to make sure though.

Now 47 had the B Boyz version of 'Who Let the Dogs Out?' rather than the more well known version by the Baha Men, probably due to not being able to get the rights to it. Although I doubt there were many people who's decision to buy 'Now' was based on whether that track featured.

And Walk Like a Champion went top 30.

Peaked at #23 in March 1996. They had another (much better IIRC) hit in December 1996 as Kaleef, Golden Brown peaked one place higher.

Was Moi Lolita by Alizee, Dragostea Din Tei or any other foreign language song ever included on a Now album?

It wasn't, it should have been as it was the Rob Searle 2001 remix that made it a hit again for a second time, but they included the original on Now 50 for some reason. Oddly, Now Dance 2001 which had come out two weeks prior to Now 50 and which I also bought did have the Rob Searle mix on it.

Likewise Now 34 having the Los Del Mar 'fake' version of Macarena, even though it made top 50 in the UK. Also Now 52 for whatever reason had a remix of Mad'House's Like A Prayer on it instead of the radio edit and Now 74 had a remix of Whitney Houston's Million Dollar Bill. If they couldn't get the proper rights, I question the inclusion of them at all

"Dragostea Din Tei" was on Now 58.

And more recently they've included non-rap versions of Price Tag and On The Floor for some reason - might not be label-related but rather odd anyway! Especially as they did use the (flop) rap version of Bright Lights Bigger City.
