Singles

Winehouse’s death has also made an impact on the midweek’s, with Back To Black climbing from 81 – 4, Rehab 181-18, Tears Dry On Their Own, debuting at 21, Love Is A Losing Game entering at 26, You Know I’m No Good at 31, Valerie at 35 – while her version featuring Mark Ronson sits three places behind it at 38 and Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow enters the top 50 at 47.

Although women are showing a united front in the midweek’s album chart, the singles paint a different picture – with JLS Feat. Dev taking over The Wanted to hold the singles crown. The track enters with more than 40,000 sales – almost three times as much as The Wanted. DJ Fresh feat. Sian Evans slips from 2 -3 on the midweek’s, while Ed Sheeran’s The A Team falls from 3-5.

New entries into the charts include Maverick Sabre’s Never Let Me Go, JLS’s Nobody Knows and Jive’s Six-D who look set to debut at 11, 16 and 25

Albums

Amy Winehouse is making a big impact on the albums charts this week, following her tragic death at the weekend – with three albums in the midweek top 10 and Back to Black fighting for top spot.

Her death occurred too late on Saturday to make much of an impact in last week’s chart, however this week has seen a huge surge in sales.

The Island-released Back to Black, first released in 2006, is currently the second bestselling album this week - up from 59 at the weekend.

The Official Chart Company's midweek flashes also shows the double Frank/Back To Black album at number six, while the deluxe edition of Back to Black climbs from 163 -7. Winehouse’s 2003 debut Frank is currently at number 11.

Adele's 21 remains at number one in a chart dominated by female acts. Nine of the current top 10 bestsellers are women, including Beyonce at three, Caro Emerald at five, Lady GaGa at eight and Laura Wright at 10. Bruno Mars’ Doo-Wops & Hooligans the only male presence at number nine.

Elsewhere, Little Dragon’s Ritual Union looks set to debut at number 16, Music Week Breakout act, Vintage Trouble comes in one place behind at 17 and Mike Oldfield’s Incantations enters at 29. John Fratelli’s debut solo album Psycho Jukebox, Joss Stone’s fourth record Stone’d and Wolf Gang’s Seguo Faults are all also set to make an appearance at 40, 43 and 46 respectively.

PLEASE READ THESE RULES BEFORE POSTING

[01] Any member that is caught spamming, or trying to cause an argument to get a reaction will be severely warned with a ban for 7 days from posting on the forum.

[02] This is a mid thread for every artist do not go on and on and on about a certain artist to bring the board into disrepute.

[03] Please be patient when you are asking for a request, as you might not get an answer straight away.

[04] Any member asking for information that isn't in the updates we don't have, always read the topic before you post, I do not want to see questions like Where is Britney? repeated several times on every page of the thread, once is enough, bookmark the page if you don't have time to read all of the topic. Its not that hard.

[05] Do not use BLOCK CAPITALS when posting a sentence its considered as shouting and rude.

[06] Do not use Text Talk.

[07] Do not use a light colour font when posting please its hard to read the topic, not everyone has 100% vision.

[08] Please give a mention to who posted the chart info or the site name where you seen the mid info if you are copying and posting the chart info elsewhere, it takes forever trying to re-edit all the information up for you to see.

[09] Please do not post lists, or sales info unless you are told to by myself or a chart mod, if you do have sales info that you wish to share round them off to the nearest thousand and name your source, do not post precise sales figures.

[10] Regarding chart postions when posted when you see a sum/substraction for example 22+4, 40-7, if you add/subtract both figures together it gives you the actual position for the track. Its just simple addition or substraction. Go Figure.

Hoping to see 5 or 6 Amy songs in the mids today.

Me too! And Adele still at #11 at the least.

I wonder where Winehouse will be in Albums :o

I have a feeling Amy's going to miss #1 because of sales being split between the normal and deluxe editions :( I could see her coming in at something like 2 and 4 (with Frank also top 10)

Amy W albums at 2, 6, 7, 11, & 83 in the midweeks, singles at 4, 18, 21, 26, 31, 35, 38 & 47...

2 and 6 - I knew it. :( What's at #11? The double album? And I assume 83 is the 'Super Deluxe' edition of Frank?

On the other hand, top 5 single and 7 in the top 40 :w00t: I assume that means both versions of Valerie made it in? I didn't expect the Ronson version to get there!

Y the B2B isn't combined? or the other versions that contains Frank + B2B? I don't get it.
I think the albums have different codes hence charting apart, that or its the usual "First day OCC Error"
Ridiculous... What's the difference why Back to Black has two separate charting albums but The Fame is one despite having three different versions around?

It's because they were separated before the OCC had a big rule change about deluxe editions and to avoid confusion they just remain separated. Ah well, she can be the REAL #1. <_<

01 JLS - YMMW

02 The Wanted - GYC

03 DJ Fresh - Louder

04 Amy Winehouse - Back To Black

It's just bad for Adele to have her 19th week when the album really isn't the best selling artist album. Oh I guess there's still hope that Back to Black can either somehow overtake her or the margin is large enough to avoid the what ifs.

Must be the first time since 'Viva La Vida' (initially) in the singles in 2008 that a #1 has been denied because of chart regulations. (Ignoring all the times a compilation technically 'should' be #1 but they no longer chart in the Albums Chart)

I mean, it's great and all that 21 is continuing to strecth its #1 run. But it's not great when Back To Black should be #1 but isn't because the OCC don't combine it because of its age... they combine Three Lions now for example, so why don't they do the same with albums? <_<

But yeah, as you say it won't even matter if the two put together still aren't ahead of 21. Let's just hope that happens.
