Nice to see Eric Saade doing alright. Him and Darin are the only 2 I've voted for so far to not make it into the Top 70.

'Confusion girl' (Frankmusik) was one of my favourites from summer 2009

Ahh I do love me a bit of Kid Cudi! I'm actually quite surprised that goldfrapp man ended up in my top 10 but hey ho, I do rather love them.

Really surprised that Bon Iver is still to come!

Personal Opinion: Not really my type of artist

"Bio: Jeffrey Scott Buckley (Scotty Moorhead) was born in Anaheim, California, United States on November 17, 1966 to musicians Tim Buckley and Mary Guibert. Buckley accidentally drowned while swimming in the Wolf River near Memphis, Tennessee on May 29, 1997.

He had emerged in New York City’s avant-garde club scene in the 1990s as one of the most remarkable musical artists of his generation, acclaimed by audiences, critics, and fellow musicians alike. His first commercial recording, the four-song EP Live at Sin-é, was released in December 1993 on Columbia Records. The EP captured Buckley, accompanying himself on electric guitar, in a tiny coffeehouse in New York’s East Village, the neighborhood he’d made his home.

By the time of the EP’s release during the fall of 1993, Buckley had already entered the studio with Mick Grondahl (bass), Matt Johnson (drummer), and producer Andy Wallace and recorded seven original songs (including “Grace” and “Last Goodbye”) and three covers (among them Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”, Benjamin Britten’s “Corpus Christi Carol”) that comprised his debut album Grace. Guitarist Michael Tighe became a permanent member of Jeff Buckley’s ensemble and went on to co-write and perform on Grace’s “So Real” just prior to the release of the album.

In early 1994, not long after Live At Sin-é appeared in stores, Jeff Buckley toured clubs, lounges, and coffeehouses in North America as a solo artist from January 15th to March 5th as well as in Europe from March 11th to 22th. Following extensive rehearsals in April to May of 1994, Buckley’s “Peyote Radio Theatre Tour” found him on the road with his band from June 2nd to August 16th. "

Personal Opinion: Think he's a really gifted song writer, just some simply stunning songs he's wrote.

"Bio: Gary Barlow (born January 20, 1971 in Frodsham, Cheshire, England) is an English singer, songwriter, bandleader and producer. He was one of the most successful songwriters of the 1990s, penning no less than 16 hit singles during the decade. Barlow was generally recognised as the musical talent behind the successful boy band Take That. This UK group were signed to RCA records and after a number of top 40 hits eventually secured their first Number 1 with Barlow’s “Pray.” Previous hits included “A Million Love Songs” and “It Only Takes A Minute.”

Personal Opinion: I'm appreciating Oasis a lot more, now I'm getting older, amazing band

"Bio: Noel Gallagher was born on May 29, 1967 and is famed for being the former principal songwriter for the British band Oasis. Noel is the older brother of Liam Gallagher, the former lead singer in Oasis.

‘The Dreams We Have As Children’ is a collection of songs recorded by Noel at the London Royal Albert Hall on March 27, 2007, along with fellow Oasis member Gem Archer. The album’s title stems from a lyric in the Oasis song, “Fade Away”. The album also features Paul Weller on “All You Need Is Love” and “The Butterfly Collector”.

Five of the songs were released over the course of 5 days as free downloads on iTunes, followed by a physical CD give-away with The Sunday Times, which contained an additional 11 recordings from the performance. The album then went on sale digitally in its entirety the following day.

Personal Opinion: Apolgizing for my ignorance, but I have never heard of him...

"Bio: Sufjan Stevens (pronounced “SOOF-yan”; born July 1, 1975) is an American musician, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Petoskey, Michigan. He is known for his lyrically focused and instrumentally rich songs that often relate to faith and family. He has enjoyed wide critical success in the United States. He is considered part of the folk revival through indie pop, but his influences are very broad, including experimental electronic music, the jazz of Vince Guaraldi, and the academic minimalism of Steve Reich and Philip Glass.

Though Stevens had announced plans to make an album for each of the 50 U.S. states, beginning the series with the albums Michigan (2003) and Come On Feel The Illinoise! (2005, officially named Illinois), he has since then retracted the statement. “Sufjan Stevens is not going to write a record for each of the 50 states after all” was the original text included on the online liner notes for their Mews Too: An Asthmatic Kitty Compilation disc released on February 7, 2006. This statement was possibly included as a joke, as the text has since been removed and the current liner notes related to Sufjan Stevens reads, “Sufjan Stevens can fold a fitted-sheet (he once worked as a professional folder in a commercial Laundromat).”

Background

Stevens was born in Detroit, Michigan, and grew up in Petoskey. He attended Hope College on the west coast of Michigan. "

Personal Opinion: Not gonna lie couldn't stand "Fireflies" and don't like anything else he's done

"Bio: Owl City is an American electropop musical project by Adam Young. Young started out making music in 2007 in his basement in his hometown of Owatonna, Minnesota, United States, later developing a following through his MySpace profile before being signed to Universal Republic. Owl City released Ocean Eyes on iTunes July 14, 2009, with the physical release following on July 28, 2009. His best known track is 2009’s “Fireflies”, which in October 2009 hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 in the UK Top 40 on January 24th 2010. The second single from “Ocean Eyes”, “Vanilla Twilight” was released in January 2010, and has since peaked at 72 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Owl City has released the EP “Of June” in 2007; the album “Maybe I’m Dreaming” 2008; and in 2009, the album “Ocean Eyes” was released. Young maintains three side projects, Swimming With Dolphins, Sky Sailing and Port Blue. "

Owl City  He's cute too!

Plan B - 'Stay too long' and 'She said' were great, then Radio 1 played his songs to death. Didn't take long for me to get bored, but I still like the aforementioned singles.

Gary Barlow - ever since Robbie re-joined Take That I haven't been a fan of their work; never heard his solo stuff

Noel Gallagher - I have a live EP of his (courtesy of the Sunday Times)

Owl City - 'Fireflies' was DIRE :puke2: couldn't/can't understand the love for it.

Plan B is alright to have on in the background, but I'm not a huge fan, although Stay Too Long and The Recluse are alright.

Gary is a very talented songwriter, and he's produced a lot of good songs for Take That. Haven't heard his solo stuff and don't have much interest in it, but he's written some masterpieces.

Noel Gallagher - Oasis were very good, it's true. Can't stand him or Liam personally, but they made some quality music.

I love Owl City! Fireflies is amazing, and he has a few more gems on his albums. I don't like using it much, but some of his songs are the very definition of epic.

SUFFY!

Just UGH at Owl City being above him...

Plan B at #68? WHAT? :o His album was probably one of the best albums i've ever heard in my life (and I own ALOT of albums). Stay Too Long, The Recluse, Prayin', Love Goes Down, Writing On The Wall, Hard Times and Free are all superb songs and i'm glad he got success in 2010. The work he did with Chase and Status too ('End Credits' and 'Pieces') are pure gems, too. Shame all he's known for is the dire 'She Said'. :(
