More or less. It's just that I'm easily persuaded anytime anyone shows enthusiasm :kink:

Yeah it definitely would have. Maybe if there's another foreign spin-off someday, although I don't think we really need it anymore :)

Fair enough, I'm not sure if I can think of one of yours I didn't like, though I wasn't mental for Shackles or Britanny :o

Neither were my proudest moments although Shackles actually topped my chart for 3 weeks  Just how slow WAS January 2010 for music? I actually didn't expect you to like Brittany at all considering that it very obviously reminded me of early Katy Perry - who I know you have a strong dislike for!

Then why didn't you send it to begin with?!

If he'd sent it on the month he initially intended to I can't see that it wouldn't have been a top five :o It still easily could by virtue of only 2 or 3 people here knowing of its existence!

Well, Norwegian + girl band + Idol, I guess it was going to happen :kink: I have mellowed out a little lately (and I always quite liked Hot N Cold). But Strawberry Shake was cute and made me think about McDonalds, though I presume it's actually a reference to a sexual position :P I think I might have given it a couple of points.

I guess you're right. 4 in total I think. The trouble is it seemed somehow too subtle, fragile and beautiful for BJSC, I would have been heartbroken if someone didn't love it :snif:

 Exactly how I felt about Chart Music last month and Robots In Love before that, I get oddly wrapped up in the beauty of these songs sometimes. Both were SO gorgeous that I couldn't rationalise in my mind how on earth people wouldn't be touched by them. Before I remind myself that there have been other songs that have done well in the contest that I haven't voted for or 'got' but that people have made similar 'it's gorgeous' comments about.

I'm generally a sucker for anything that pulls on the heartstrings though, hence why I'm such a big fan of Robyn!

I entered BC Jean - I'll Survive you because Tirren told me to without actually listening to it properly and it came fifth.

YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST.

I didn't TELL YOU TO A'IGHT, I merely RECOMMENDED that it would do fairly well.

Anyway, SOMEONE had to enter it ~

HMMMM. Regrets? I don't know if I have many.

Ghostcat DNQ'ed, but it's actually one of my more inspired entries, and a song that I still really like. So, I don't regret sending that AT ALL. I guess I regret sending Problem With Love, and sending Asteroids Galaxy Tour would've been better. But, once again, I really like Problem With Love despite it's flop.

EDIT: Sending Kelly - Shoes. I know it was supposed to be the last contest, but I'm sure if I was going to go novelty - I could've found something at least a BIT more current.

Amazingly, that was BEFORE Bridesmaids :o

I think you did. You held a metaphorical gun to my head and threatened to tell the world I was a 4.0 fan.

You 4.0 bumming scum. -_-

SAY IT LOUD I'M 4.0 AND I'M PROUD :funky:

The craziest thing I've done lately is try to participate in BJSC 36 while I'm hosting NSC.

Big mistake. :S Still I managed to get my votes in anyway.

What song did you win NSC with Sabre? (and congrats!)

Hosting is a major time drain, I'm looking forward to handing the reins over to somebody tomorrow and taking my life back :P

I didn't actually win NSC. :P

Greenfroze won it. Dalisska came 3rd but the 1st and 2nd placers declined hosting. So, as I had never hosted a full blown song contest (with semis, I hosted a spinoff before) I decided to host it.

I came 3rd with this song:

The really funny thing was, Dalisska actually came 9th in the semi....and was only a few points away from failing to qualify.

Oh right, I wonder why Greenfroze declined? :o Exactly how many BJSC countries/participants are currently in NSC by the way?

That's actually really good on first listen, I think it could have done well here too! I always though Belle & Sebastian were an indie act, I didn't expect this at all when I clicked onto the song! 9th and close to DNQ'ing? How does that work, do quite a few people auto-qualify each month on NSC or do you just have tiny finals?

Just had a quick peek.

Philter won for Greenfroze :o

POOR BRAVE Boyan sent MOVES LIKE JAGGER. :/

Apparently one country there has been participating for 61 contests and never won. Tough luck LOL

Oh :o That's another song that could easily do well in BJSC I think!

 That's the sole reason I wouldn't entertain participating in NSC, imagine coming 11th behind the latest Gaga single, knowing you'd missed the top ten because of cheapness that even BJSC circa 2009 would have lauged at.

Poor sod, that'll be Torchwood here in 30 contests time :P

The size of semi's vary based on participants (same as here) Although in the current NSC 71 there was 25 nations in each semi.

In NSC, the top six countries pre-qualify (PQ) or auto qualify in the next contest. 10 countries qualify from each semi based on the votes from countries/people in that semi. There is also a rest jury which allows you to vote in the semi that you're not in. Allowing you to have some influence even if you're not participating in that semi.

This rest jury scoreboard for each semi works simply that the highest scoring country that hasn't already qualified through normal means qualifies as the 11th country from that semi. (So a total of 22 songs qualify from each semi + 6 PQ nations results in a 28 song final.)

As for how many BJSC countries take part in NSC. There's Dalisska, Greenfroze, Zechonia and Bokia. (even though they don't take part here anymore)

Zechonia has won NSC once with Katie Melua - The Flood

Greenfroze has won NSC twice

Dalisska is still awaiting a win. :P

For all it's "cheap" songs, I don't think it's fair to just rubbish NSC based on that. It's much more unpredictable....but the diverse range of music styles makes it very rewarding too. I've found songs there I love that never in a million years would I have discovered otherwise. Usually good (unknown) does prevail over evil (cheap) :P at least in terms of winners. I think in a way, because NSC tastes are so diverse....a song from Lady Gaga might not really be that cheap. Judas failed to qualify a few contests back.
