August 10, 201113 yr In Liverpool where I live, the shopping centre was attacked during the day and shops closed early. I suspect they may have had some impact on CD album sales but unlikely to impact on digital downloads.
August 10, 201113 yr I think it may have, sales are already bad ofcourse, but this doesnt help, with some HMV's badly affected, stock and people not really wanting to leave their homes unless completely necessary. :( Sad situation we are in right now, such a shame.
August 10, 201113 yr It's just as terrible as Beykira and the other monstrosities that have been inflicted on us in the past. Edited August 10, 201113 yr by tonyttt31
August 10, 201113 yr It's just as terrible as Beykira and the other monstrosities that have been inflicted on us in the past. 'Beykira' is indeed awful. But 'KanJay' isn't anywhere near as bad as that. Possibly because it keeps the same vowel sounds as 'Kanye'.
August 11, 201113 yr Its obsurd to think that the riots have not affected sales for those that have posted above - Several branches of HMV got trashed and are closed at present, The majority of supermarkets [Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys & Morrisons] were all closed in and around London by 6pm on Monday and those that did open the following day were closed by 2pm.... Exactly, I don't understand how anyone who's following the news atall could possibly think the riots WON'T affect sales - of course they will.
August 11, 201113 yr Whilst the riots will definitely have affected sales I don't think it will be anywhere near as much as people will be suggesting. Yes, some shops have been looted or shut early, but the vast majority haven't, and those that have have all been inner city in maybe a dozen cities at max? That doesn't take account of all the shops in cities such as Cardiff, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Glasgow, Norwich, Derby, Sheffield, York, Oxford, Sunderland because there hasn't been any trouble in these places, not to mention all of the out of town supermarkets and shopping centres and downloads/internet shopping won't have seen any decrease. Obviously no one will really be able to prove one way or the other, but if Adele sells more than 1,000 copies less than it would've done, I'd be surprised....

Glad to hear Yorkshire is still sane! :P Yeah, people seem to forget that Scotland and Wales count towards the charts (as it is the UK charts :P) and they haven't been hit by rioting
August 11, 201113 yr Glad to hear Yorkshire is still sane! :P Yeah, people seem to forget that Scotland and Wales count towards the charts (as it is the UK charts :P) and they haven't been hit by rioting The only place where there has been real trouble is Leeds in Yorkshire. And even then a lot of that is to do with police tensions. Perhaps this just further highlights the fact that Yorkshire is the best county in the UK :D
