Posted August 12, 201113 yr LaK6khs8aMw The Planet of the Apes franchise has been revived, its more of a prequel to the original, and its actually pretty good, its left open at the end for a follow up. Once the credits rolls up at the end, don't leave there is a little clip.
August 12, 201113 yr I was so shocked at how good this was. Definitely one of the best blockbusters of the year. Andy Serkis is absolutely brilliant in this. THIS is how to reboot a franchise!

August 13, 201113 yr I seen this opening night and it was FRIGGING AMAZING! As an avid fan of the original films and sequels I was delighted at the references to the previous films. Also James Franco provided some nice eye candy and the CGI Apes were incredible - Looked extremely realistic. Highly recommend this to anyone, you do not need to have any prior knowledge to anything in the franchise to enjoy or understand this. This film basically reboots the franchise and provides an excellent basis for a new franchise. Also seems to be leading up to the events in the first original film. The Mars astronauts were referenced in the film, maybe they will return like Charltons Hestons character to discover the world has been overrun by the apes! Exciting!
August 13, 201113 yr Went to see this tonight and it is one of the best films I've seen at the cinema in a long while. Well worthy of its excellent reviews. I'm not actually a fan of the Planet of the Apes franchise of films but from comments and reviews I knew this wasn't going to be along the same lines - even so - a truly pleasant surprise. Kath
August 13, 201113 yr The whole premise sounds laughable to me ... I mean apes taking over the world just sounds lolable imo. But after reading reviews and such I am quite intrigued and may just give it a go.

But The great thing about this one is that they're NOT trying to take over the world - this is the premise I didn't like on the original franchise. At the end of the day they just want a place to call home. A little corner of the planet where they can live amongst their own without being gawped at or experimented on. Trust me - you'll love it. I think you like it, its basically a beginning to the original series, its not as if you trying to piece everything together from the originals. Its really one of the best summer movies, originally the release date for the film was to be October, but they thought the film would do better among the summer blockbusters.

Overhearing conversations on the way out of the cinema tonight - it seemed that everyone felt they'd got their money's worth. So many times I've been to the cinema and thought that I'd been ripped off - this was a huge surprise. The greatest compliment you can pay to a film is by 'how long it felt to watch it' and this seemed to fly by. My only quibble with this film was that it ended too soon - I wanted another 30 minutes! I wouldn't mind seeing it again to be honest, I definitely be getting the DVD when released, and I agree the film could have been longer. The whole film just wheezed by nicely, and there wasn't any dull parts in it, I was hooked from the beginning. Its the perfect apes film to reboot the franchise after the horrendous Tim Burton's version, mind you his version was left hanging in the air at the end of the film.
August 14, 201113 yr Went to see this today and it was seriously incredible! Without a shadow of a doubt one of the best movies of this year, imo. It's definitely up there with 'X Men: First Class', 'Harry Potter 7(ii)' and 'Super 8' for me. I loved everything about it. It was what every reboot/prequel/first film, should be. I loved how they didn't let any of the apes talk until near the end. I think that would have kinda ruined it for me. But yes. Ahhhh. Amazing film in every way possible.
August 15, 201113 yr i have heard so much hype regarding this movie, that i think i am actually going to cave and watch it. the burton one let me down, so i hope this one will redeem the franchise.
August 15, 201113 yr i am looking forward to watch it very soon, heard lots of good things about it!!
August 16, 201113 yr I must have been watching a different film to you lot, because I found this to be bloody dreadful. A huge letdown. And Tom Felton's attempted American accent... Christ, I cringed every time.

I really hated the original Planet of the Apes series of films, despite being a bit of a Charlton Heston fan (putting aside his NRA association of course.) I was actually going to watch the Tim Burton one as I'm a bit of a Mark Wahlberg fan but I'd heard bad things about it (plus I can't stand Helena Bonham Carter or Tim Burton.) Was it really that bad? Tim Burton is resurrecting the TV series Dark Shadows into a movie next year, with Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter

August 22, 201113 yr Funny enough I went to the Zoo before I saw this movie  The apes such as the chimps, orangutan etc were the ones who interested me. After the zoo me and my other half went to the cinema and we ended up watching this film as there wasn't really anything much on that time. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was surprised how good it was. It was at least 2 hours long but I felt it didn't drag and it kept its pace. People actually clapped at the end of the movie which I've never heard before in my lifetime in a cinema! If you do go and see this movie which you must - make you wait a bit at the end when the credits come on.
August 23, 201113 yr Rise of The Planet of the Apes looks nice to check the trailers of the movie.. i liked the information u have shared for the movie.. thanks..
