12. Cher Lloyd - Swagger Jagger

:o She's, yet again, exceeded my expectations with regards to longevity. I was expecting her to free-fall without the top 10 effect.

I'm pleased at how well she's doing. To be still just outside the top 10 when there is barely any radio play and seemingly everyone hates it is pretty amazing to be honest.

Yes. I still haven't heard it on Capital yet! :o Apparently they are playing it though, but it can't be very often, if I still haven't heard it. :( It seems like Capital "play all the hits", apart from Cher Lloyd and Glee Cast...

Yes, I do wish radio would get behind it, considering it went to #1, but I guess a lot of their listeners would switch off if they heard it what with so many of them hating Cher. But, it's OK because it's #1, it hasn't fallen that fast and it might reach 200k by the end of its chart run! :cheer:

True. I think that's why I bearly heard Next to You on Capital either (Justin Bieber). They have to attempt to keep their listeners I guess...

I was saying in another thread about US radio actually, I think some people, especially the target audience of stations like Capital (hip, cool, etc. teenagers), would not listen to the station if they were at risk of being caught listening to Glee Cast, Justin Bieber, Cher Lloyd, etc.

The iTunes chart is really dull this week. :( (outside the top three anyway)
I'm kind of hoping that Christina randomly overtakes them all very quickly and gets to the top spot but then the new entries next week will just push her down again. It's like the Your Song situation all over again where new entries keep blocking her even though she overtakes them all eventually. :(

^ I can see that happening to Moves Like Jagger tbh. But I guess, on the positive side, we get lots of British artists at #1.

The iTunes chart has been dull this week, since most of the songs I actually care about are between #50 and #100, so all I can do is whine about them all inevitably missing the top 40.

However, musically, the chart is much, much better, not to mention, more diverse, than it has been for most of this year (not that that's difficult ).

This is true! It's just a pity Christina couldn't nab the #1. If they had kept the price at 59p who knows where she would have landed!

And yes, outside the top 4 this week has been really dull. Nothing interesting happening further down!

Also Ed Sheeran is still hanging in there. I don't know how he has lasted so long.

Oh, I disagree, 'In the Dark' is relatively weak for me. :( It's a "top-30 with 4-5 weeks in the top-40" hit material.

Anyone know why 'Make You Feel My Love' has shot back up yet again? (#57 in the 8pm update - coming soon by the way - and now up to #52)

Maybe because X Factor is on tommorrow, so people are thinking about it and downloading the theme song in preparation for their X Factor launch parties?

Can't believe it's almost a year since it shot up the first time! :o And it's still top 100. That's so impressive. I think SLY will be top 100 for well over a year though.

And I remember being pretty annoyed when it shot up for the 2nd time since it went top 10 and knocking out LTWYL (which is also still top 100! :o) and prevented it from getting 15 weeks in the top 10.

Today's (yesterday's) top 100 update, 8pm positions as usual

Two new entries today. Lil Wayne's new single 'She Will' featuring Drake, the fourth single from upcoming 9th studio album 'Tha Carter IV', is #1 on US iTunes with a healthy lead. It does (as expected from Lil Wayne) significantly less well here, entering at #64. 'Party All Night (Sleep All Day)' was released as the fourth US single from Sean Kingston's still untitled upcoming third studio album and continued Kingston's rapid decline to flopdom, missing the Billboard Hot 100. It enters the UK iTunes top 100 at #88 today thanks to some free promo from the song being used in the Inbetweeners movie. Rihanna's 'Loud' album has now been re-added to iTunes but none of the 4 tracks from it that were top 100 before the deletion have yet re-entered - however, the Now! 79 version of 'California King Bed' re-enters at #79. Katy B, Electric Light Orchestra and Jessie J have entries dropping out to accommodate the 3 top 100 entries.

I would say obvious... but unoriginal? - no one on XF would've performed it in the past as it was only released this year

I meant unoriginal with respect to all those of this year's X-Factor contestants who must be thinking of performing it.

Friday

12. Cher Lloyd - Swagger Jagger

:o She's, yet again, exceeded my expectations with regards to longevity. I was expecting her to free-fall without the top 10 effect.

But the dominant factor here is not the 'top 10 effect', but the 'anti-XF' effect. Most XF-related songs struggle to get airplay, regardless of how well they do in the charts. I ascribe this to the perception that they haven't *earned* their chart success.

I wonder if JOH will register a sales increase this week?
