I'm surprised at how well Will is doing. I think he could hold up a little bit better than people might think. Teenage Dream by Katy Perry was also released one day before the album. Obviously that was getting a lot of promotion from radio, MTV, etc. compared to Will, but the album release didn't seem to cause it to go into freefall or anything (infact, if people remember, what happened was two versions of Teenage Dream went top 10 on iTunes, peaking at #2 and #7 or something like that).

I hope Will can hold up in the singles chart... would be great to see him top 10 again... but he has a very different fan base to katy... so the album release may affect his singles performance much more... katy seems to have a better casual buyer audience, so she seems to be able to sell alot of singles, and a 'comparatively' lower number of albums (i know her album has sold well, but not proportionately considering the hit singles IMO) :-) having said that, perhaps jealousy really is appealing to a wider audience than his core fan base?!?!

In one way I'm amazed that Jealousy is doing so well, given no airplay at all on radio one or capital. In another way I'm not surprised, there's been a huge thumbs up to the track from music reviewers and bloggers and on the internet generally.

The album version of Jealousy is better than the radio edit, longer and meatier. Cherry picking the track may help the single as from tomorrow. I hope not though really, as no doubt Will and his record company would prefer people to download the whole album! Will seems particularly unconcerned about Jealousy charting, the most popular remix hasn't been offered for download, and the song is released just one day before the album. It's not hard to see the strategy is for pushing album sales.

However, if the music is good, often tracks will break through in spite of limited exposure, as Maroon 5 has showed us this week.

let Olly have another forgettable no.1, twittering away to his fans to download etc  . We shall see if he is still making the charts in 10 years time, when numerous new X factor alumni will have had time usurp! :)

Will Young doing really well - I didn't expect it to do much at first, but its had a lot more promotion and build up than his last single ever got, so I did think it could do better, still, I certainly didn't expect it to be this big, still its a very good song by him and the album should be an easy number 1

good to see Olly at number 1 though, its probably my favourite single by him  not liking how quickly Nero are falling though :(

Noel doing a lot better than I thought too :o this could actually get top 20 officially, with physicals added in

I've heard Will's new song a few times, its crap and I can't remember any of it. After just one listen of Olly's new song I was hooked and it was stuck in my brain.

Don't be such a bitter Bessy :P

It's extremely good going for *any* act to still be having hits 11 years after their first hit, let alone an act from the X Factor

Besides, 'Hearts Skips A Beat' is actually really good and most importantly sounds different to his first 4 singles.

I wonder if the EP sales of Calvin Harris will equate to a JLS/Nero type situation we had last week, by which the EP sales put Nero ahead in the first update and then proceed to take over #1 on iTunes.

I prefer the Harris track to Murs, but Olly Murs has definitely shown prospect for a successful second album. The song isn't too chessy that fans cringe (much like 'Please Don't Let Me Go' and 'Thinking of Me') - so hopefully it'll sell a fair bit. With Murs doing the Xtra Factor, I wouldn't be surprised if the second single from the new album was performed - it'd definitely give him a T10 (making four in total - and only in the space of a year and a half).

I doubt it as Murs is miles ahead. I love both 'Heart Skips A Beat' and 'Feel So Close' so I don't really mind who's #1 but of the two I do prefer FSC so hopefully Olly will slow down over the week and allow Calvin to overtake... :P

Also, Calvin's EP is #1, yes, but Olly is also #2.

I must be in the minority then who has found Calvin Harris' two singles really underwhelming and disappointing. For me, all the singles from 'Ready For The Weekend' are better than 'Bounce' and 'Feels So Good' combined. It's all a bit meh - kinda like 'Don't Go' by Wretch 32 so I won't be at all surprised if Calvin Harris does get the UK #1 this week.

Thankfully I discovered other countries charts where songs mostly sell because of the...well, song. :D

I think Wretch 32 and Calvin Harris's songs sell because of the quality of the songs (and being promoted). That's the only reason I can see them selling.

When I look at other countries charts, I see songs like Mignon Mignon, so I feel some other countries are worse off.

I see 'Feel So Close' is another addition to the list of songs that no one ever refers to with the correct title :kink: Not only do loads of people put an 's' at the end of the word 'Feel', the entire third word is now being changed by some people!

I do think Bounce and FSC are underwhelming but that's only because the singles from Ready For The Weekend (title track aside) were so outstanding. I've grown to like FSC more than Bounce but I feel it's a step in the wrong direction for him going back to singing.

With the RFTW era, I'm Not Alone sounded like a progression from the 'I Created Disco' sound, whereas Ready For The Weekend (song) just sounded like an ICD track. And the same situation has happened with Bounce/FSC, the former sounding like a progression and the latter just sounding like a track from Ready For The Wekeend. If you get what I mean. FSC would be better with a proper vocal from someone else. Or as an instrumental. I'm not sure why I didn't just download the instrumental actually, it is on the EP  I blame it being very late when I downloaded it...

I think Olly's fans should enjoy his new single while they can. According to him on Digital Spy a few weeks back the rest of the album is nothing like it. He's gone back to the style he was doing on XFactor and wanted his fans to know that.

Here's a link to the article: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a33...r-new-album.htm

And of course, as always Regina, your opinion is entirely your own. Others, including myself, would beg to differ :P

Thanks for all the updates, much appreciated

'Feel So Close' is easily my favourite Harris track thus far, shame Olly Murs is ahead. I haven't been particularly fond of anything from him since 'Acceptable in the 80s' either.

92. Close (Radio Edit) - Drumsound & Bassline Smith

120. Close (Original Mix) - Drumsound & Bassline Smith

Slowly but surely...

Calvin is at #2, nice, I'd love him to get to #1 instead of Olly.

Hmmm, if Will keeps climbing we could be in for an all new top 3 for the second week in a row! We'll have 2 new entries top 2 next week as well.
Another #2 for Calvin then? I wish it could get the top spot. When is his album coming out actually? I've heard no news of it.
Ah, good to see Noel is actually still gaining on those directly ahead of him. How high is he combined?
