Plot of Rec 3:

"The action in REC Genesis encompasses the events of the first two films and after the sense of claustrophobia previously experiences. The action now takes place miles away from the original location and partly in broad daylight giving the film an entirely fresh yet disturbing new reality. The infection has left the building. In a clever twist that draws together the plots of the first two movies this third part of the saga also works as a decoder to uncover information hidden in the first two films and leaves the door open for the final installment the future REC Apocalypse."

And Director Paco Plaza gave some more details to El Pais:

"The main characters are Diego Martin and Leticia Dolera, there is a wedding, it's a prequel, not everything we see will be subjective and recorded by cameras."

Can't wait!

:)

Anyway here's the poster:

!!

The '[Rec]' franchise has been INCREDIBLE so far. (I know we're only two films in, but I'm expecting the last two will be just as good!)

LOVED the first two and I'm liking the idea that this one will be partly in broad daylight. The first two film's endings were both amazing so I'm just hoping the next 2 are just as good and don't just start scraping the barrel like most sequels. Though I thought the 2nd was probably better than the 1st so that's a good sign.
I've forgotten most of my Spanish since GCSE, but I think it says "the happiest day of my life"...wut?

It does say "Happiest Day Of My Life" and I'm assuming it all started off at a wedding of some sort.

Rec =

A virus breaks out in an apartment block in Spain as a camera crew are there to witness it. The building is sealed of by the authorities and there may be more to it than meets the eye.

Rec 2 =

SWAT team goes in along with a priest to try to find the source or cause

One of the best pair of films on the subject ever and overall better than the 28 Days/Weeks Later pair. You really must see them. If the following two films are as good it's up there with Romero's Anubis trilogy (I'm going to ignore the last thre Dead films right now)

The first two films are among my favourite horror films of all time, and easily my favourite in the zombie sub-genre. Still need to see the Romero films; I've only seen Land of the Dead, and while I can't remember much about it, I remember liking it at the time. The Dawn of the Dead remake is fantastic though, blew me my 12-year old mind away; even though I've only seen it once, it has still stuck with me all these years.

Here's hoping [REC.] 3 doesn't disappoint, it certainily sounds interesting. So it will work as both a prequel and sequel? And for the first time there will a different prespective other than first person, that should keep things fresh especially now we've got a new location and it's set during the day. I wonder how they're going to wrap the series up though; maybe with a mass exorcism

I made my dad watch [REC], only telling him that it was a "'director's cut' [or, with all the takes left it at least] of a Spanish documentary on the fire brigade". The results were INCREDIBLE.

Hah! :D Surely he must have clocked on though eventually? My brother managed to convince me The Blair Witch Project was real when I was younger and showed me the fake website to convince me, then said there were other cases like that near to where we live: terrified doesn't cover it. The curse of older siblings <_<

Baha, he realised as soon as the old woman threw a bit of a tantrum, but his face during that was priceless!

Can't tell if you know or not from your post but there Rec 3 will be a sequel with minor prequel elements set miles away from the site of the original where the infection has spread to. The 4th film will wrap things up

Thanks for clearing it up, I wasn't sure. The last time I read news about the series was when 3 & 4 was announced and I remember reading that Genesis was going to be a prequel and Apocalypse would carry on from the end of the 2nd, so reading the synopsis threw me a bit. Tbh I am glad the plot is going to keep moving forward, I think a prequel would have slown down the kinetic pace.

So, so, SO disappointing. It doesn't feel like a '[Rec]' film at all! Well it does at the start, but it looks more like a, typical, generic Hollywood horror film in the way it's filmed and shot after the beginning. It also explains NOTHING (unless me and my mate missed parts)! I've not been as disappointed in a film, as I have with this. I genuinely believed it'd be one of the rare franchises, where every film was just as good as the last. I am hoping Jaume Balagueró doesn't mess up the last installment and that it actually starts, where the second one finished.

I saw this a few weeks ago and gotta say it was disappointing. It starts just fine but eventually they take the comedy route here way too far. Not too bothered how it was filmed after the beginning but the Braindead -esque routine was puzzling. The two first films were pretty straight-forward horror films and I am sure with some more thinking they could have easily figured a new but still horror way to go.

Why didn't they just show more of the initial attack and concentrate to what happens to everyone instead of focusing to the two main characters that weren't all that interesting to beging with.

Not the worst film of the year but a REAL disappointment.
