January 30, 201312 yr Impressive that James has managed to spend 7 weeks in the Top 10 - Especially as it has been such a strong seller. His 7 week tally makes him the second longest running Top 10 winners single behind Shayne Ward in 2005, He has also spent more weeks in the Top 3 [5 in total] than any other previous winners single. 2005: Shayne Ward - That's My Goal: 1-1-1-1-5-6-7-10 [8 Weeks] 2012: James Arthur - Impossible: 1-2-1-1-3-7-9 [7 Weeks] 2006: Leona Lewis - A Moment Like This: 1-1-1-1-6 [5 Weeks] 2008: Alexandra Burke - Hallelujah: 1-1-1-3-6 [5 Weeks] 2010: Matt Cardle - When We Collide: 1-1-1-2-5 [5 Weeks] 2004: Steve Brookstein - Against All Odds: 2-1-2 [4 Weeks] 2007: Leon Jackson - When You Believe: 1-1-1-5 [4 Weeks] 2009: Joe McElderry - The Climb: 2-1-2 [3 Weeks] 2011: Little Mix - Cannonball: 1-2-6 [3 Weeks] Nice one, James!! Shayne's was a good winner's single too so good to see it at the top :D
January 30, 201312 yr Author Marcus Collins - Mercy got to #194. (Was on his wikipedia page earlier for some reason :P) This has been mentioned before: zobbel.de hasn't posted AFAICS that Marcus Collins' 'Mercy' ever went top 200 so unless someone with a C+ subscription (or someone that's more observant if I'm just not seeing it on zobbel) can confirm otherwise it's not going on the list. I'm pretty sure that's just incorrect information on Wikipedia.
March 2, 201312 yr Author Updated. 'One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks)' becomes the 33rd XF #1 and One Direction's 4th, making them the third XF act to get 4 #1s after JLS (6) and Olly Murs (also 4). Also updated the peak of 'Change Your Life' again and added in Olly Murs' 'Army Of Two' and The Risk's 'Missiles', the latter meaning six out of twelve acts from the 2011 series have had at least one top 100 hit.
May 18, 201312 yr Author Updated with new peak of 'Army Of Two' and 4 new singles (Little Mix/Missy Elliott, Royal Mail Choir/Joe McElderry, Amelia Lily and Misha B). Zobbel hasn't updated for last week yet so Olly Murs' 'Dear Darlin'' should probably have a new peak but I don't know its position. It'll be very comfortably top 40 tomorrow anyway so will be updated then. Edited May 18, 201312 yr by Bré
May 18, 201312 yr Zobbel hasn't updated for last week yet so Olly Murs' 'Dear Darlin'' should probably have a new peak but I don't know its position. It'll be very comfortably top 40 tomorrow anyway so will be updated then. Just missed out on the Top 100 this week, as it climbs from #195 to #101. Source: Haven
June 7, 201312 yr Author Updated peak of 'Dear Darlin'' (again) and added Demi Lovato/Cher Lloyd. Almost missed that one on Zobbel!
June 8, 201312 yr You have vince Kidd on the list at 198. He is from the voice, isn't he? Fantastic list, though!
June 8, 201312 yr Sorry, I didn't realise he was from a group on X Factor!! What? He is from The Voice...
June 8, 201312 yr What? He is from The Voice... Kidd (real name Matthew Protheroe) auditioned for The Voice UK at age twenty-two, originating from London, England.[13]Prior to the competition, Kidd (under the name Protheroe) competed in the fourth series of The X Factor as part of the boyband Futureproof. The band ultimately made it to the 2007 series' live shows, having been voted off in the third week.[14]
June 13, 201312 yr Author Updated 'Dear Darlin'' again + added in 'Right Place Right Time' (the song) following its BGT performance and also Union J's 'Carry You'. 'Dear Darlin'' is only the third post-album single by an XF act to reach the top 5, following 'Better In Time' by Leona Lewis (#2) and 'All Night Long' by Alexandra Burke feat. Pitbull (#4). Union J are the 22nd X Factor act to get a top 10 single and the 29th to get a top 40 hit, excluding the finalist ensembles. They're the third charting act from the 2012 series following James Arthur and Lucy Spraggan (the second to get a top 10 hit as Lucy just missed out).
July 29, 201311 yr Author Added Lucy Spraggan 'Lighthouse', One Direction 'Best Song Ever', Diana Vickers 'Cinderella' and Jahméne Douglas' album and single. Lucy Spraggan already had a couple of top 200 hits including one that went as high as #11 of course but 'Lighthouse' makes her the 3rd act from X Factor 2012 to make the top 40 singles with post-show material after James Arthur and Union J. Jahméne Douglas also (barely) becomes the 4th act from last year to make the top 100 singles, but he was nowhere near the top 40. One Direction get their 7th top 5 hit to match the record previously held by both Leona Lewis and JLS. Presumably they'll pull into the lead with their next single. It is also their 7th top 3 hit, matching JLS' record. Diana Vickers' song is the first by an X Factor act to peak at exactly #76, not particularly notable but quite unlucky :P Incidentally no X Factor acts have yet peaked at #41 or #101 on the singles chart. Jahméne becomes the 12th X Factor act to get a #1 album. As he came 2nd, the number of non-winners with #1 albums pulls ahead of the number of winners with #1 albums even more, with only 4 of those 12 acts being winners. I would be surprised if James Arthur doesn't become the 5th winner to get a #1 album later this year.
August 19, 201311 yr Author Updated the peak of Olly Murs' 'Right Place Right Time' (song), now being pushed as a single. It's his 12th top 100 hit, matching JLS and One Direction for the second most, behind Leona Lewis' 17. It's also his 12th top 75 to match (just) JLS for second most, behind Leona Lewis' 15.
September 11, 201311 yr Author Just a couple more updates - 'Right Place Right Time' peak now updated (still climbing but now correct as of last week) and added 'Loving You' and Lucy Spraggan's 'Mountains' (pre-order track from her album on iTunes). I'm assuming #138 was the peak of 'Mountains' but IIRC it was released midweek so it might have climbed in its second week, you can't tell on zobbel.de sadly so if anyone with a C+ subscription could confirm either way that'd be great. Tenth top 40 hit for Olly Murs anyhow, overtaking One Direction's 9 for now but they'll likely close that again very quickly. Leona Lewis and JLS are joint in the lead with 12 each but with the latter now defunct and the former not gaining hits very quickly I'd expect Olly and 1D to overtake them as the top 2 pretty soon.
October 18, 201311 yr Author Added Lucy Spraggan's 'Join The Club' and updated the peak of 'Tea & Toast', now available again. Of course 'Last Night (Beer Fear)' didn't get a new peak on this re-release so no update there :P Lucy is the 24th XF act to get a top 10 album (25th including Jonathan Ansell of G4 as a solo artist) and the 2nd from the 2012 series after Jahméne Douglas. She's the first ever XF act to make the top 10 with a second album after missing out with the first, though admittedly under slightly unusual circumstances. Only Olly Murs, One Direction and Joe McElderry previously improved on the peaks of their debut albums with the follow-ups.
October 29, 201311 yr Author Added James Arthur and Union J's new singles plus the Alonzo Holt feat. James Arthur thing. The latter is surprisingly the first top 100 hit with an XF act as a featured artist (well, aside from 'Wishing On A Star'). James Arthur matches Shayne Ward for the highest peaking post-show single by a male winner.
October 31, 201311 yr Added James Arthur and Union J's new singles plus the Alonzo Holt feat. James Arthur thing. The latter is surprisingly the first top 100 hit with an XF act as a featured artist (well, aside from 'Wishing On A Star').That is surprising! But using American Idol as a comparison, the earliest I can think of is Kelly Clarkson having a featured credit on a song that entered the Hot 100 in late 2010. Looks like it could happen again very soon with Classified releasing 'Inner Ninja (feat. Olly Murs)' in November!
October 31, 201311 yr Also surprising: Demi Lovato's "Really Don't Care (feat. Cher Lloyd)" had 1 week on the Hot 100 in the spring, so if you're not counting 'Wishing On A Star', that means a top 100 hit with an XF act as a featured artist happened in the US before the UK! :o 'Wishing On A Star' should really count though :P :drama:
