I hope nobody has placed money on who will hit #1 this week: it'll be a revolving door of visits to the #1 spot.

The Saturdays officially (or very soon) will probably be #3 this Sunday. If released any other week, The Saturdays probably would've gone straight to #1.
Maroon 5's second version appears to have vanished, must have been deleted. I really hope this doesn't cause the first version to suddenly have another huge spike but it's fairly inevitable isn't it

I think they deleted it, but they have put another version on their album, so it will probably start rising.

Pixie - 1.000000

The Saturdays - 0.768011

Maroon 5 - 0.748078

Leona Lewis - 0.500887

Example - 0.438306

Top 5 %'s off livepopbars :)

You could easily say the same for MLJ but it doesn't work that way.

I don't see MLJ getting #1 tbh. They're 25%+ behind and it doesn't look like Pixie's lead is decreasing rapidly enough for MLJ to make up for the loss of sales between the gap in the period between now and saturday.

What I'm saying is you could argue if MLJ was released any other week it would have gone #1, especially on a quiet week if we apply the same theory with The Saturdays to what you just said.

For the record, I don't think MLJ will ever get to #1. Last week was the best opportunity just narrowly missing out to Example. I can see MLJ overtaking Pixie possibly towards the end of the week but it won't get #1 officially.

Why? I'm sure Pixie will be number 1 this sunday!

So what if it does? There would be no net increase in sales, merely a transfer from the deleted one.

Well, it isn't true, is it? Last week we saw the top-2 selling over 70k, the week before Olly got 100k+, before 'Don't Go' again sold 75k+... If the Sats outsold Example and Wretch this week your point would slightly get more valid, but I can't see them clearing that.

Statistically no, but the higher position even in iTunes is the better promotion which makes more sales just because of that.

The transfer of sales being the boost I was referring to in my post?

But the way you phrased it, seemed to suggest that deleting one version would raise sales above the combined totals of the two previously available ones...

I said it'd cause the first version to have a spike, not the song as a whole.

maroon 5 starting to close the gap now, they will need to close it by thursday morning to have a chance though i reckon

Movements since 4pm yesterday.

Maroon 5 are no.2 on my feed again.

The Saturdays certainly have fallen quite a bit in terms of popbars since yesterday. I look forward to seeing Maroon 5 / Christina return to #2 - I'm hoping it'll have a 'The A Team' type chart run and hang around in top 5 for a while, despite never reaching #1.

The question now is, will Leona Lewis make progress on catching up with the Saturdays - she's certainly closed the gap between herself and Maroon 5 - she was at ~40% yesterday and now she's in the 50s.

I think she'll overtake The Sats on iTunes by the end of the week, but not officially.
