Stripped back = fantastic if done well. this = aural rape. I generally tend to steer clear of/hate songs that heavily rely on BASS as their 'hook' as it is very much bottom of my list of desirable aspects of a song.

I can see why people would hate this song, it's production is very strong, maybe a bit to heavy for some people. however, I just think songs that have just a piano and vocals are a bit too bland unless the vocals are really, really powerful.

then again, it is rihanna. most of the time she can do no wrong. :D

I echo what Rob just said.

I'm obsessed too LOL

This is bloody good. Had it on repeat all day. Sounds incredible in HQ.

EARGASM! ><

The chorus is a bit of a let down, but THAT build up! And I don't really find it repetitive ?

Cannot wait for the video, and the X Factor performance! :w00t:

Instant love. Much stronger than 'Only Girl' which took me a few listens to love. Looking like a mix of Rated R and Loud.

Artwork is amazing!

Very infectous, i find myself just randomly singing along 'We found love in a hopeless place' and its only premiered today :heehee:

I keep thinking it's 'homeless place'...I thought that ONE TIME and I can't get it out of my head now!

'We found love in a homeless place'...ARGH.

Sorry guys but I dont think its that great. Quite bland and somewhat repetitive. Not a patch on "only girl".
This is MILES ahead of Only Girl. Go Calvin! First US charting song! :D

I strongly disagree. Its no way near as good and I'd be surprised if it sells anywhere near as much as only girl has done.

'Only Girl' has got nothing on this!

I know it's not even been out 24 hours yet but this is up there with Rihanna's best imo. Her vocals, the lyrics, the production...everything just blows me away.

I agree with the selling part, this is no where near as commercial as Only Girl. However, this song has clicked immediately, something that Only Girl took until after What's My Name? came out to do for me. It may be my taste for european style dance music and my love for Calvin, but IMO it's better.

Although this is still very repeatitive, I love it to bits now. Its so catchy and the instrumental is just emmence. I love how Rihanna has a different approach every era - the first era was very reggae, second era was more poppy but still reggae influences, third era was r&b, fourth era was dark pop, fifth era was more pure pop mixed with the new dance sound (Only Girl) and the sixth era has started off different again, with a more trancey sound, which isn't familar to Americans at all. I love how she evolves and doesn't just try and recreate what she has done in the past, because she knows its sucsessful. She so far has pulled of every single change in musical style so far, and pulling it off in such little time. Amazing.

It's great. This really solidifies Rihanna as my favorite mainstream pop artist only second to Beyonce. I don't know how huge this will actually be tbh but I really like it.

I still like Only Girl better tho ~ ~

OK I'm now obsessed with this song!
Maybe I am the only one who doesnt really get her new song. I loved "only girl" straight away and it became an instant monster dance hit for me but I just can't get into this song in the same way.
