September 22, 201113 yr I'd just like to say I'm really enjoying most of the semi final 2 tracks. :D For me, there's a good number of highlights and only a handful of lowlights (and even they aren't that bad). :o I suspect this is going to be the toughest round of voting for me since BJSC XXXIIV. XXXIIV? I don't believe that's a number Hits :P
September 22, 201113 yr Would posters really be allowed to do that? :o I'd be quite bemused if a song I produced myself ending up winning BJSC. I don't see why not. It's whether you'd be brave enough to accept potentially nobody voting for your own creation :drama: Imagine becoming the first nul pointer with a self made song!
September 22, 201113 yr Is it possible to extend the deadline as the voting thread was only up on Monday and the mp3 packs yesterday, so it's barely anytime to accustom yourself and vote for the songs. 4 days is quite enough to listen to 23 songs at least twice, I think. The links are in the first post.

Whatever you say :P I personally like to mull over the songs for a while before making a decision on voting.
September 22, 201113 yr XXXIIV? I don't believe that's a number Hits :P :drama: Of course I mean XXXIV. I think!!! Honestly though, I'm really liking a lot of these songs. I am gonna struggle to put these into an order I feel happy with sending as my votes.
September 22, 201113 yr Peter should've gone this route instead of a terrible Dora 2008 or whatever year song  Which would have been the first nul pointer if not for YOU :drama:
September 22, 201113 yr Is anyone else getting an ABBA vibe off the IU song? I've never come across an Asian pop song with such a similarity!
September 22, 201113 yr ABBA? How did you get that comparison :o It just feels like it draws influences from the Voulez Vous album to me. Maybe it's just me that thinks this though
September 22, 201113 yr I get what you mean actually. It's influenced by disco and 70s pop, although I wouldn't say directly ABBA (I did just see them perform Dancing Queen live on Top Of The Pops 1976 though ) I think it's a music style which they call "trot" in Korea, other examples are Bangkok City which I sent to BJFestivalen, and Roly Poly In Copacabana by T-Ara.
September 22, 201113 yr I didn't get the ABBA comparison but it was certainly more interesting to me than most K-pop songs that have been sent to this contest because of the instruments used and the backing track. The main thing that puts me off the genre usually is that a lot of it just sounds very generic and musically pedestrian to me. Foreign language songs really have to appeal to me melody and production wise to make an impact seeing as I can't understand the lyrics. Few K-pop songs that I've heard, at least in this contest, have really stood out of the crowd for me in terms of production, melody or originality hence I rarely vote for them (perhaps 3 or 4 times in the past?). However, I appreciate that the IU song really isn't generic at all, certainly not the intro and verses anyway, so it endeared itself to me quite easily and quickly :D

Roly Poly itself was meant to be inspired from Retro-genre, hence why the album is named after John Travolta. How Good Day is called Retro in a way is something I did not understand. I thought it was just pure Teen-Pop, something that Selena Gomez or Miley Cyrus would've released :P @gooddelta, does it mean I get a good chance at scoring some points from you? :yahoo: Edited September 22, 201113 yr by Oricon

September 22, 201113 yr I think i'll need to vote at very last minute as I STILL can't pick my top 10 tracks from this semi. If I still can't pick the top 10 tracks that I really love at last minute, i'm gonna use that random.org thing. Edited September 22, 201113 yr by Oricon
September 23, 201113 yr Is anyone else getting an ABBA vibe off the IU song? I've never come across an Asian pop song with such a similarity! I thought one song sounded a bit like Abba or Steps, so it may well be the same song. I know I didn't understand a word they were saying... :P

I liked Bangkok City too actually, I shall have to check out more stuff from this trot genre! Dancing Queen :puke2: . Sorry, but for me that song is down there with I Have A Dream :( I thought one song sounded a bit like Abba or Steps, so it may well be the same song. I know I didn't understand a word they were saying... :P Yeah, it also sounds a lot like Steps! Not a bad thing in my book though!
