Posted September 26, 201113 yr Now you can get an NVQ in HUNTING - despite the bloodsport being banned Source - Daily Mail Teenagers will be able to gain a government-approved qualification in hunting - even though the sport was banned six years ago. Pupils will study hunting as part of an NVQ in Animal Care, in a programme supported by the national fox hunting authority. But animal-welfare campaigners have criticised the move, comparing it to 'an NVQ in slavery'. Pupils will study hunting as part of an NVQ in Animal Care, in a programme supported by the national fox hunting authority Haddon Training, based in Marlborough, Wiltshire, has teamed up with the Masters of the Foxhounds Association to offer the diploma. The course in 'Foxhound, Harrier and Beagle Kennels' has been recognised by the official government body which regulates qualifications. Students will learn about animal welfare and hunting safety, as well as receiving training in how to run kennels. More...Primary schools are being 'punished' if they stop sex lessons as secondaries are told to hand out contraceptives The diploma was devised by the MFHA's Tim Easy and Lesley Seed, from Haddon Training, who is a master of the Avon Vale Hunt. Ms Seed said the NVQ would give Britain 'the huntsmen and first whippers-in of the future'. She added: 'In future if the youngsters leave hunting, they've got a prospect of employment elsewhere. 'We're also able to give them the theoretical side on the course, of operating in hunt kennels and we can actually assess them practically to ensure that they are safe in their environment and that they have the skills to move on.' Students will learn about animal welfare and hunting safety, as well as receiving training in how to run kennels William Parker, 17, who is currently studying the course, said: 'I wouldn't see it as an important part of hunt staff life, but it is a very useful thing to have. 'Lots of people have turned up in the past and said "I've had experience in these kennels, these kennels and these kennels," and when you phone round that's not the case. 'This qualification is solid proof you have done it, you've worked towards it, and it will help with the job - though it's not vital.' Hunting foxes and deer with more than two hounds was made illegal in 2005 thanks to the Hunting Act, but hunts now use a number of loopholes to continue their traditional activities. Steve Taylor, a spokesman for the League of Cruel Sports, said: 'It would be interesting to know if there's a section on how to "accidentally hunt", which is how many hunts are getting around the law and still killing foxes cruelly. 'This is a qualification rooted in the past - what will be next, an NVQ in slavery?' A spokesman for Haddon Training said the new qualification was already proving popular for young hunt workers. He said: 'We are certain that part of the future of all forms of hunting will rely upon training, education and qualifications for staff coming into the industry as well as maintaining animal welfare standards at the highest levels. 'We believe that it is important for all hunt kennels to take active participation in the promotion of the education of the future generation of hunt staff, and although this has never been a requirement in the past, it is important for the hunting fraternity to embrace training opportunities that will advance their careers. 'Hunting has a future if it keeps abreast of 21st-century education and welfare standards.' ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hmmmm, let's see, can we think of any more sicko courses they could accredit...? - Applied Dog Fighting? - BTEC in Seal Clubbing? - A Masters in Whaling and Big Game Hunting? I mean, seriously, this is just utterly unreal..... I wonder if they course will have a module in Puppy Drowning or How to Shoot a Lame Horse Properly...? Sick, loathesome Tory b'stards......

September 26, 201113 yr And as we all know, The Daily Mail is a fair, balanced newspaper that only prints the truth - or is that only when it reinforces your own biases?
September 26, 201113 yr Wtf. This is a qualification in doing something illegal, surely that's like a degree in selling marijuana? So the Tories have decided not to put one more electoral nail in their coffin by announcing plans to legalise hunting again, and are instead quietly approving plans to introduce a new generation to this sick and (dare I mention it again) ILLEGAL past-time. Not that they'll be introducing it to anyone new mind, the only people doing it will be the spoilt brats whose gentry parents don't like to admit that their precious offspring is too thick to get a qualification in anything useful.

You're saying the course doesn't exist then...? Or do you think that fox-hunting isn't illegal...? You know, people bitch and moan when I quote from The Guardian, Independent, Russia Today, and say I'm only using "leftie" sources, I try to balance that out with OTHER sources and I still get bitched at... Make up your minds...... But, hey, just to keep you happy, here's an alternate source...... http://www.thisisgloucestershire.co.uk/Ang...tail/story.html

September 26, 201113 yr Wait... Study hunting in an Animal Care course? If I was one of those students I'd walk right out the door, disgusting....not to mention it makes no sense at all.
September 26, 201113 yr Not all hunting is illegal though. One of the alternatives that the Daily Mail call a 'loophole' is using a piece of meat - certainly not cruel, at least in regard to foxes. Shall we not presume that by the teaching of hunting teaches the illegal side of things? It's also quite likely that whilst the practice of fox hunting is taught, it isn't at all condoned. After all, it is called "animal care". You could take this argument to extreme lengths; most pupils in the UK will learn about the Holocaust, but obviously it wouldn't be justified / condoned. It could even be that the NVQ doesn't involve the teaching of hunting, only the Daily Mail have assumed that it does simply as it's backed by an organisation that also deals with fox hunting. Even if the headline is shocking, please treat this with every bit of skepticism that you would with any other Mail article. Also, while I am no Tory supporter, in particular with regards to their economic policies, I don't think that this would have been discussed to a huge extent in Parliament. It is merely a rather niche course that would have been approved through Ofqual, not Parliament. So I wouldn't immediately point the finger at the Tories.
September 26, 201113 yr not only is it absolutely sickening, its stupid! what on earth do they hope to teach these people? animal welfare I understand, but why included hunting? I dunno what the need is to legalise hunting anyway...it surely can't be hard to keep pest control and eat safely these days anyway, anyway it is The Mail so I think a pinch of salt is needed Edited September 26, 201113 yr by C.W
