Why bizarre? In all the updates so far it has been 1. Sak Noel, 2. Goo Goo Dolls, 3. Maroon 5

Surely there is more of a reason to talk about singles/albums that have shown some movement in the midweeks?

Yes, the updates have all been the same position wise. That doesn't mean it's not a battle. The battle is with sales which we annoyingly can't see because MW haven't posted any midweek sales info.

How annoying! thanks Mart!n.

Yes what a shame but thanks for letting us know. I guess there's no possibilty of them posting the update later?

I think it's perfectly reasonable for Joe's album to be subject to discussion in this chart prediction thread, because his position does keep changing, and his weekly, and overall, chart trajectory is unusual. Someone should be able to point out that he's hanging on in there much better than expected, and hanging around longer than the higher profile, expected hits. I think his chart run is fascinating, and I think a lot of people are interested in that, as well as enjoying seeing someone who was written off having a change of fortunes. It's not often that someone who has been subject to that much criticism (in the general media) manages to recover from it.

That's not having a go at the other acts who are doing near enough what it expected of them, and there was never any need for anyone to have a go at torresgirl for saying so. If she'd just been allowed to make her, perfectly reasonable, and on-topic point without harassment, this thread would have remained on topic.

It goes without saying that it's very likely that albums that are not Joe's and are dropping down the charts faster than him will get a second wind with the release of subsequent singles. There is no need for fans of those artists to feel threatened, because I'm sure they'll all sell well enough no matter what Joe's chart run and final sales are. If for some reason they don't sell that well, it will be for a reason other than Joe's surprising chart pattern.

Good post. And it is impressive for this album and without any singles released as well. It deserves it. I hope it maintains its Top 10 position this week.

I am surprised that musicweek did not released the album chart. That is weird.

I thought because of Joe's success with this album that they would try and rush another album out in time for easter/mothers day next year, but i have just seen on another site that they are bringing another one out in 2 months i wonder if it's a mistake :o

Thats really funny I was just about to say that, A Christmas album! I think as its called "Classic Christmas" it may be Classic with bonus christmas tracks? I'm not a fan of Christmas songs myself but if he choses the right ones could really boost sales over the christmas period.

How predictable, I could tell from as soon as 'Classic' became a success that Universal would milk him for occasion sales. He'll probably do a Mother's Day album as well
I knew that you could repackage an album with new songs and sales would be added to the original but i did not know that you could also change the name and sales would still count, does anyone know the chart rules on this please :D

The Fame Monster counts towards sales of The Fame, Bright Lights counts towards sales of Lights, Turn It Up Louder counts towards sales of Turn It Up etc etc. 'Classic Christmas' will definitely contribute to sales of Classic.

I guess we have to wait and see what the package is before we judge. There are some god awful christmas songs and some beautiful ones. He wouldn't be the first artist to cash in on the Christmas market tho. Its the biggest selling time of the year. And let's be honest done right it could sell bucketloads.

It's not definite as we only know the title don't we? If it's a completely new album then it'll count as a different chart entry, if it's 'Classic' repackaged with some Xmas songs tagged on it'll be combined.

It probably will but i bet a lot of his fans will be gutted that he is doing this.

Why? I will judge it on what the material is but most of the fan reaction so far is they are pleased he's getting another album and Universal are promoting him well. All most dedicated Joe fans want at least for now is for him to be successful so he can continue recording. Hes so young, plenty of time for more IF things go well.

Well if you take it that Classic Xmas is a re-release then it definitely will! I think the chances of him releasing a new album only a few months after this are a bit low.

I don't think so. I think they are more excited to hear it.

But in general, you don't see that happening with Lady Gaga as well as almost all artists that create a "deluxe" or some sort of "edition" off their albums.

Even before this news, I was thinking if they were going to re-release or do something to expand on the success of this one for the holidays. Haha! :D

It is an interesting move by the label, and it would coincide with his tour.

Classic plus an extra CD of Christmas songs would be an interesting marketing ploy. They can then revert to the original version after Christmas.
why or how in this day and age is it that much of a challange to get sales #s , like basically on a daily basis lol ?

You know that, I know that, but the OCC guard their sales data more jealously than the crown jewels... :(

The general consensus is that it is a good thing but with some reservations. Somebody suggested it should be released with a DVD of the tour! Now THAT would be interesting - and excellent! :D

so..are we actually in store for MLJ snatching that damn #1, finally ? Or as usual, iTunes #1 a little too late in the week ? lol

Not this week as they've only now overtaken Sak combined. Next week, quite possibly.
