September 29, 201114 yr Oh can people please SHUT THE HELL UP about this pointless crap, I can understand it when it's Pixie vs The Saturdays vs Leona for #1 because they're all well-liked Buzzjack artists and they are actually competing for a meaningful chart position. Take it elsewhere, please. Plus in weeks like those it's HILARIOUS.
September 29, 201114 yr Have to say I don't get this music snobbery (sorry but that's how it comes across) from some. No one is holding a gun to anyone's head to buy a single or album. I'm sure for most people, if they like it enough (from airplay, samples, etc) they'll buy. Personally I don't give a stuff whether the artist has written the track(s) or not (a good singer may not necessarily be a good song writer anyway) or whether the artist is perceived as 'cool' or not - I judge by what sounds good to me, what I think I'm likely to enjoy hearing time and again. Maybe I'm in the minority though. that's exactly how I feel, but I'm afraid that there are loads of members who are like that. -_- they also tend to be the bigger members here too.

Gees some people are annoying yes but being high and mighty is just as annoying! Leona wasn't competing for anything she charted 4th!

No-one actually gives a care who is doing better 5 weeks after release (except the fans loons here ofc :P) At least the Sak Noel vs. Maroon 5 vs. Goo Goo Dolls battle is INTERESTING and more to the point Edited September 29, 201114 yr by danielXF

Maybe I'm in the minority though. Thanks. I ALSO agree with this! Although I don't think we're in the minority really, when you look at the charts. Maybe on this forum it seems like that, but with the general public it's not. Most people go by the "If the song sounds nice, I like it" logic (if not, people like Britney Spears, Rihanna, etc. would do terribly in the charts, which isn't the case (worldwide)). Likewize, I don't think artists who release terrible songs should be able to sell well, just because they can play a trumpet or just because they wrote the lyrics themselves. I'm lucky though, since most of my favourite artists do write their own lyrics, which makes my life easier, but I like them because I like their songs really. Shocked to see J Cole's album in the top 20! :o I can't believe people are buying it! It's great though, it shows a good album can get in the charts without Heart FM and Radio 2 playlisting the singles. The A Team is out of the top 10 again it seems. So I think it's now on 12 weeks in the top 10, tied with LMFAO and Pitbull? Maybe Maroon 5/Chrstina Aguilera will beat that. I have to say, this time last year, I would NEVER have expected the likes of LMFAO, Pitbull, Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera to be having the songs with most longevity in the charts!! Just seems so random. I wish we knew the sales differences in the top 3. They could be quite seperated by now, or they could be really close. Edited September 29, 201114 yr by Eric_Blob
September 29, 201114 yr Really surprised (happily) to see Nicola Roberts climbing in todays update, looks like she could well stay top 20 now.
September 29, 201114 yr Author Can we all just stay on topic now, its the last couple of pages they seem to be going on and on about the same thing, this is why all the updates are on page 1, following each other, getting re-edited each day, otherwise everyone will be trolling through the clap trap trying to find the mid info.
September 29, 201114 yr The music week mag says James Morrison's album sold nearly 22k in tuesdays mids. I thought it would be higher his airplay as been brilliant.

Maybe I'm in the minority though. Of the 3 most recent albums I bought, Joe's Classic is my most played, followed by Maroon 5 (I'm another who's gutted they keep missing out on the #1 slot for MLJ), followed by Will's Echoes. I'm delighted that both Joe & Will are standing their ground in charts which are currently very fluid. I only wish Hands All Over had remained higher in the charts too, it's a great album. Here here. I was also going to agree about what you posted about fatmuffin's post but you deleted it. Well said.

That's a bit of a moot point as the mids are posted at the start of the thread for that very reason  It seems bizarre that in a week where we have one of the most interesting top 3 battles of recent times (Sak Noel vs. Goo Goo Dolls vs. Maroon 5/Christina Aguilera) the discussion in the thread is dominated by Joe McElderry vs. Will Young in their 6th week of release when neither are in the top 5  Edited September 29, 201114 yr by Bré
September 29, 201114 yr I'm starting to think I'm the only person in the UK that doesn't own an Adele album :) I don't have one!
September 29, 201114 yr Why is 'The Edge Of Glory' back in the top 40? Was it used on X Factor again? I remember Born This Way being used fairly prominently at boot camp but not TEOG. Yeah, that awful old blonde haired rocker did it on Sunday night.
September 29, 201114 yr Just wondered does anyone now how many copies are between Joe Mcelderry in 9th and Pink Floyd in 7th? Was just wondering if he had a chance of moving up towards the end of the week. Thanks in advance :)
September 29, 201114 yr I think it's perfectly reasonable for Joe's album to be subject to discussion in this chart prediction thread, because his position does keep changing, and his weekly, and overall, chart trajectory is unusual. Someone should be able to point out that he's hanging on in there much better than expected, and hanging around longer than the higher profile, expected hits. I think his chart run is fascinating, and I think a lot of people are interested in that, as well as enjoying seeing someone who was written off having a change of fortunes. It's not often that someone who has been subject to that much criticism (in the general media) manages to recover from it. That's not having a go at the other acts who are doing near enough what it expected of them, and there was never any need for anyone to have a go at torresgirl for saying so. If she'd just been allowed to make her, perfectly reasonable, and on-topic point without harassment, this thread would have remained on topic. It goes without saying that it's very likely that albums that are not Joe's and are dropping down the charts faster than him will get a second wind with the release of subsequent singles. There is no need for fans of those artists to feel threatened, because I'm sure they'll all sell well enough no matter what Joe's chart run and final sales are. If for some reason they don't sell that well, it will be for a reason other than Joe's surprising chart pattern.
September 29, 201114 yr It really is so weird that every week Joe falls a massive amount in the first mids and then recovers incredibly well by the end of the week. It's not even just a case of him overtaking the new releases either. Even older albums overtake him and then he catches them again.
September 29, 201114 yr its gonna be close but I just dont think MLJ is meant to hit that damn #1 lol

I won't elaborate as I don't want it to start going back and forth again.

Syco didn't ruin Joes career as hes doing better without them :) but they could have easily and they are doing the same to Leona right now.
