Didn’t realise it was the anniversary already! I thought it was the 11th or was that just the UK?

 

I enjoy this as an album but it is my least favourite Gaga solo album. It’s the album what had the least impact on me.

 

Certain tracks are much better now than they were 6 year ago though Jewels N Drugs and Mary Jane Holland definitely got better over time. It’s such a shame that we never got the campaign / era what she wanted from this album though but it was basically sort of cool to not be a Gaga fan during this era.

I struggle with this album coz I feel it's an album of 2 halves. The highs are some of her best ever but the lows are right down there with her worst ever!

 

Think imma need to listen to it again soon.

Dope is the song I've done the most flitting around with. I was never that keen on it but over the past year it's become an album highlight for me. The duo of Dope and Gypsy is the album at its best for me. The pain and harsh sounds we hear early in the album are stripped away here in these two songs. (Then she ends the album with Applause completely ruining the flow again lmao :)).

I’m not too keen on Dope tbh. I think the demo version and what the song was originally was much better. She kinda went mad on overworking the album this era the iTunes festival versions of songs we heard were better than the album versions of a few tracks.

 

Tracklisting wise I’d agree on Gypsy closing it though. Applause could’ve actually opened it tbh or the title track. Parts of the album I love though like Sexxx Dreams, MANiCURE, Applause, and the title track are all great. I love parts of Aura and Venus too. I need to listen again as a whole at some point this week but if I had to bin a Gaga solo album it’d definitely be this one. I can see why it’s both loved and hated though. This album kinda reminds me of Christina’s Bionic in places.

I go back to this album more than any other Gaga album, there's just so much to go back to, it probably helps that there WEREN'T a lot of singles (and I didn't care hugely for Do What U Want anyway) so nothing feels overplayed and they hold a special place for me. That run of the first 4 songs are all STOMPERS.

So I'm relistening to this and.. I take back my comment of it being "an album of 2 halves"... there's literally 4 songs I love/return to listen to. The majority of the rest are just horrible :(

 

The 4 songs being: Sexxx Dreams, Gypsy, Applause (shush) & DWUW (so 3 when removing that).

Only about four/ five songs I like too. I completely disagreed with the album of 2 halves comments. It's trash.

I can tolerate Sexx Dreams, but the verses are woeful. The rest are atrocious.
