I was only half focused on it tonight I'm afraid as I was doing my very own 'Come Dine With Me' although I did manage to listen to all of Amelia at the beginning. I liked Amelia's performance (thought it was a poor song choice but I think she managed pretty well.) I was massively disappointed with Mischa (before the show started - she was my favourite girl). For once I agreed with Gary when he said he couldn't understand what Louis had done with Johnny. I actually thought Johnny's vocal was ok - but the whole outfit just distracted and he did look like an oven-ready turkey. I thought Kitty was dreadful and as much as I liked Sami's vocal - why the hell have they dressed her up like a 50+ woman when she's a young woman in her early 30's? I missed Frankie altogether so I can't comment but I'm sure that Gary thought the sun shone out of his hairy-tattooed arse and it wouldn't matter how he'd perform - you just know that he's safe for the forseeable future. Jonjo - bless him was just dreadful - and again - Barlow was right when he said he stuck out like a sore thumb! I liked Rhythmix (oddly enough - I've not liked them so far) and Two Shoes were - well again - I agree with Gary Barlow.

Stand out performance - and the only time we stopped tucking into our Peach & Cognac Trifle - was Craig Colton. Just love the guy.

Just a thought - why the hell is Louis trying to look like a middle-aged TinTin?

Personally I think Marcus Collins is the only one of the boys who's definitely safe. I could easily see Craig or Frankie being the 'controversial' one out and James would be the obvious one to leave but I don't see any reason why he'd eliminate Marcus, unless he's secretly a racist.

Frankie would be a shock, as much as I know he won't, from any talent scouts standpoint he would be the obvious one to go. You could easily see Barlow getting rid of Craig? Considering he said it was his performance of the night? Nooooo chance!

I do think Marcus was awful tonight, but at the same time I think it was moreso the song that just didn't suit his voice rather than his lack of ability.

Predictions for chops tomorrow?

Boys - James

Girls - Amelia :(

Groups - NuVibe

Overs - Jonjo

Not who I'd like to go, but who I think will go.

Kelly has such a hard decision tomorrow, all 4 of hers are better than most of the rest. Tonight's the first time I've properly noticed Sophie and she was incredible so I'd rather Amelia go tomorrow even though she was great too. Shame they can't just be the final 4.

Marcus was awful tonight, what a shit song choice for him  I'm beginning to think M5's label paid them to use it or something to get the edge on Rihanna  But I think he has more talent than James, so I'd keep him. Depends whether Gary weighs it all up or not.

To be fair I think you are in the minority there and although the song choice was perhaps a little uninspired he more than did it justice - it's a tough song to sing, a faster tempo than most of what gets sung on X Factor and requiring more intricate vocal technique such as moving between keys, falsettos etc at quickfire pace and he really pulled it off whilst also negotiating minor choreography. Several contestants could have done the same but the key is that he made it look effortless, easy almost. He didn't look out of his depth whatsoever. It comes so naturally to him. He's a genuine performer, not just a singer.

Oh god. I've become a fangirl.

The girls are the strongest group I reckon, I think Sophie will get boring though, and as a viewer pointed out on the Xtra Factor - Sophie has had very little press attention, people know very little about her which can lead to people thinking she has no personality, harsh but true. I reckon if it had been a public vote Sophie would've came last out of the girls. Really strong vocal, but I wouldn't say the performance or Sophie were particularly memorable. I think Amelia has much more to her than we've seen, I can see her giving some cracking performances in the weeks to come but I do think Sophie will be one of these "balladeers", as naturally slower songs suit her vocal more I would expect, thus it'll show little versatility to her.

I agree with what you're saying, he does have the talent there but (for me anyway) he just didn't pull off the performance. I wouldn't be overly sad to see him go but it would be wasting his potential which would be a shame. Frankie was my fave boy going into it but actually tonight he was meh at best and I wouldn't mind him going. But it's between Marcus and James - and the former has talent and potential, whilst the latter is just pretty boring.

I'll be genuinely disappointed in Kelly if she keeps Amelia over Sophie which will very obviously have been a choice dictated by past form and by Amelia's bigger personality. I wouldn't mind but Kelly went out of her way tonight to tell Sophie that having a big media-friendly personality isn't important so to contradict herself would reflect badly on her when she's come off quite sincere throughout this contest so far. Still I think the producers will want one 'shock exit' and Amelia fits the bill so fingers crossed. I do like her but purely on tonight's performances it wouldn't be fair if another girl left and she stayed.

But if you form an opinion with a basis of intellect and FACT behind it then where is the harm of saying such things? As I keep saying, challenging people for saying she can't do something with a FLIMSY reasoning of "we haven't seen her yet, give her a chance". It's entirely thought-terminating and nonconstructive. When has anyone suggested X Factor was solely about versatility. It's just currently what is being "debated" in regards to Janet. But there IS a difference between singing one genre and giving the same performance over and over (which is what I can easily see Janet doing).

As for your last point, once again? EH? Who said everything needs to be debated? Or a massive debate? I haven't suggested that. But if you are going to make "controversial" and blasé remarks surely be prepared to back it up instead of hiding behind a smokescreen of "you are just baiting"/"i am entitled to my opinion".

But what if you don't form an opinion 'with a basis of intellect and FACT'? It may just be because I'm less INTELLIGENT than you but personally I have plenty of opinions that I can't justify beyond 'it's what I think so it is my opinion' in an argument. This would give me the options of not saying my opinion at all or saying it, having it challenged and not being able to amply justify it and thus being made to feel my opinion is not 'valid', even though it clearly is by virtue of the fact that I hold it. There's nothing wrong with debate but there's also nothing wrong with not wanting to be involved in a debate (which is what I meant by 'not everything has to be a massive debate'). If you think this attitude means that the forum has no 'SOUL' then why do you still come here? Is there nothing better than you can do with your time?

No one ever said X Factor is 'solely' about versatility. I didn't say that. You seem to be making a bigger deal about versatility and not even mentioning her actual VOICE bar maybe one or two sentences. And regarding 'giving the same performance over and over', I repeat there are plenty of popular recording artists that do that. You can obviously argue that this doesn't make it any more acceptable but if they are as popular as they are then they must be doing SOMETHING right. And the same applies to Janet.

Saying I want Janet to win is not 'controversial' at all - she's the bookies' favourite, if anything it's just about the LEAST controversial thing you can say. It's not 'controversial' just because it disagrees with you. It should theoretically be more important for people to explain in great detail why they want someone OTHER than Janet to win.

That's a good point I suppose, but what the judges say about the performances doesn't *always* translate to how they decide who leaves - Simon hated Jedward with a passion but he still saved them over Laura White when it came down to him! Anything could happen, especially as the public has no say in this. I'd still say Marcus is the least likely to go out.

After Craig's performance tonight I genuinely thought he could be the one to beat, based on judges comments, audience reaction, how impressed I was. Obvs. :heehee: However, I thought the same thing after last years first show after Aidan sang Mad World, and looked how that turned out. What a difference a couple of weeks can make. ^_^
I really HATED Aidan's performance of 'Mad World' and I never really expected him to do particularly well, but the fact everyone on here seemed to love it made me start to think he could have a chance of winning. I was very happy to be proven right. Really never saw the hype behind him. Each to their own I guess.

Ah nah, I personally didn't like him either. I was too much of a Cher stan to notice anyone else. :kink:

My posts are in reference to a general attitude in this thread not solely directed at you? This has turned into an utter sludge and I don't think you know where I'm coming from. You just seem to be making assumptions left, right and centre and I don't understand it. "If this forum has no 'SOUL' then why do you come here?". I'm sure you can work out some reasons? Though I suspect it's been said in a bitchy and ultimately FAIL way.

Apparently I am Aiden's dopplegänger. Reason enough not to like him :(

Maybe Misha is doing Rolling in the Deep? I'm not sure though just a guess, even though I can see Amelia singing that somewhere along the competition..

How I Guessed that I do not know :heehee:

Could just see her doing this song!

ITV2 for repeat now if anyone was wondering. :)

Aiden had a really unfortunate FIGURE. He could've been quite the sex symbol if it wasn't for those gigantic hips. You could tell he used to relish his carbs.

You seem to also be making assumptions, because this is the second time this week you've mistaken a simple comment I've made as me being 'bitchy' (general rule, if it's a post by Bré, it's not meant in a 'bitchy' manner). Also, I'm not saying it's directed solely at me, I'm just using myself as an example. Maybe I don't 'know where you're coming from' but I'm just commenting on the way your posts are coming across.

Aiden is the sex.

I'd certainly bury my tongue in his tonsils all day long. His shy chic thing really appealed to me too. I like a guy who can't string a sentence together without turning beetroot. Probably because I like to think I could CURE them. DR JARK weaving his DARK MAGIC.
