ooh, that is a rather interesting twist! glad they didn't tamper with the line up, Wild Cards is fine, but I really think 16 is more than enough. I think (pre-performance) that James, Sophie, Rhythmix and Johnny look the most at risk, it depends if the producers want to go for another 'joke act' in Johnny -_-

I'd say: Nu Vibe, Johnny, Janet & Craig should go

It will be: 2 Shoes, Johnny, Sophie & Craig though

I like the twist to be honest, It is abit cruel like...

I think the following will go

Girls : Sophie

Boys : James

Overs : Sami

Groups : Rhythmix

A bit of a sucky twist really....

It seems more like a way to just get rid of the extra baggage.

Sophie, Sami, 2Shoes and Marcus are goners I think. (although maybe they'll kick out one of the favourites in week one to get everyone riled early) If it was me deciding who goes home it would be Misha, Jonjo Kerr, Nu Vibe and Craig Colton.

Boo at Louis is going to send home Sami no matter how well she sings.

Does anyone REALLY think Louis is going to send home Johnny Robinson? At best he'll send home Jonjo but he won't touch Johnny or Kitty.

I find its a bit of a boring twist really. It just goes back to square one where each judge has three apprentices rather than four. As you say - a way of getting rid of the excess baggage that should have been dispensed with at JH stage.

So this is the 'exciting, never before seen in X Factor history' thing they were bigging up. Meh!

PS - I don't think Louis will get rid of Sami (I just have a feeling that her 'dramatic' inclusion at this stage was not accidental).

Well that's a bit stupid really. If anything they should start the public voting earlier rather than later. Why not just get rid of the public vote altogether?
To be fair, its always been 12 contestants for the public to vote its no different just because they have 4 acts instead of the usual 3. Its no biggie, actually its better, less of the double eliminations.

That's the whole point though - this twist was bigged up to be something 'really big and different' when in reality - its just plain boring.

What would have been better would have been to have Gary, Louis & Kelly vote off one of Tulisa's acts; Louis, Kelly & Tulisa vote off one of Gary's acts, etc. Yes - I know that this could mean that maybe they'd get rid of bigger rivals - but as all these judges are supposed to be in to find a 'genuine' star - it would mean that two judges could be moderating a third for any dodgy business. It would certainly mean that Louis couldn't get up to his old tricks in the first week.

Louis will not get rid of Johnny or Kitty. Kelly won't get rid of Janet or Amelia, Gary won't get rid of Frankie or Craig and I don't think Tulisa will get rid of either of the boybands

So I think its between Rhythmix or 2 Shoes for Tulisa, Johnjo or Sami for Louis, Marcus or James for Gary and Sophie or Misha for Kelly.

Kelly would no way get rid of the overrated Misha. Sophie is screwed.
It is quite a big twist, I'd imagine Sophie and Rhythmix are certain goners, although I'd imagine Kelly is fair enough to vote for say, Misha, if she messed up and was worse than Sophie. Louis will be interesting, I think Sami will smash it so surely he can't vote her off? I actually quite like the twist though it's unfair. It could be VERY interesting, if Janet or one of the other favourties mess up they could mix it up a LOT :o I hope Janet, Marcus, NuVibe and Johnny go!
I honestly cannot see this 'big twist' being anything to do with having MORE contestants, like the wildcard theories and the Cheryl/Simon/Uncle Bulgaria/whatever having a special category of axed contestants. Adding 20 to the live shows would just be too much surely and nearly impossible in the timeslot it has.

Ditto any theory re JUST bringing back Jade or any other single contestant would be unfair to boost one category to 5?

Am I making this up in my head, or did last year's 'BIG! TWIST!' teaser show a mystery silhouette and people were speculating it was Nicole? I think. Surely if it was anything to do with addition, more contestants, more judges (5th judge to avoid deadlock) then they might have use something like that again.

I think it's far more likely to do with eliminations myself - Perhaps losing one from each category, or if they wanted to be REALLY harsh, eliminating someone before the show even started but I think that's too cruel. Whatever it is it's sure to be an anti climax, and nowhere near as inventive or interesting as some of the theories mooted!

The judges swap thing is quite interesting but can't see that happening, and aren't people just basing that theory on Gary saying he didn't get the category he wanted in an interview some time ago, from what I can make out? Surely he might have just said that at the time to throw people off guessing what category he had or is this a more recent interview?

Well I thought that might be the case and this was always going to be about eliminations but how silly of me to think that the public would be deciding this, of course we can't have that in case the public send home any producer favourites.I actually can't believe that ITV have agreed to any twist that involves no public vote though!

Straight away you've got to say it now looks like James and Sophie who made it through on mere snippets aired to the public were chosen to be nothing more than sacrificial lambs. It's risky though for producers they say it is solely going to be decided on the live performances, and sure they can manipulate song choice etc but what if someone like Sophie gives an amazing performance whilst one of the girls crumbles? They'd have to come up with some epic bullshit to convince even the most placid of X Factor viewer, it was the right decision, they did say it was cruel and I strongly suspected 4 eliminations but didn't foresee a scrapping of the public vote!

You just watch - even if certain acts in this do 'mess it up' a way will be found to keep them in. The judges will try to convince everyone that what we're hearing at home must be different to what they're hearing in the studio ... and they'll get away with it.

They may be right. My telly must be different than everyone else's as whenever they've screamed 'you smashed it', 'you made it your own', 'that was possibly the best performance not just of the show but possibly the whole series', 'Wow', all we've heard in our house is a load of sub-par vocals at best.

Kath

I get the impression that Kelly raves about Sophie and thinks more of her than comes across. If I was Misha I'd be a little bit worried. Janet and Amelia are safe as houses though I think.

I don't agree that Misha is overrated, I don't really notice much talk about her. It's always Janet this or Amelia that.

I'm not sure if Tulisa will want to send home Rhythmix. You have to consider how poor girl bands perform in the public vote....so Tulisa might be wanting to prove a point that she was the one who saved the girl bands. It's hard to judge who else out of the groups will go....but the best bet is on 2Shoes unfortunately. :(

That's hyperbole for you  They're obviously that by saying these things that it will become a self fulfilling prophecy with the viewers being brainwashed to believe that it really was the best thing since sliced bread and rushing to the phone to vote for this life enhancing moment.

The worst was Simon gushing over Danyl a couple of years ago after giving dreadful or average performances (I Don't Want To Miss A Thing springs to mind). That's the one thing that I prefer about the Pop Idol format in comparison to X Factor - the judges were more honest when critiquing in the live shows because there was no loyalty to specific acts.

Definitely, she'll be reluctant to get rid of The Risk because she put them together herself, and likewise Nu Vibe because the producers are obviously trying to turn them into the new One Direction even though it seems to me that they lack the likeability factor that 1D have. However, I think Tulisa will see that 2Shoes will probably actually do quite well with the viewers based on their personalities. I really can't see anybody apart from Rhythmix leaving the group category on Sunday, they'd be lucky to make it as far as the third week on the public vote alone anyway based on past years.

I think Kelly will base it totally on who performs the worst there is no chance Amelia and Misha will give a bad performance they will probably be the two stand outs. I hope she gets rid of Janet who is mediocre at best but it will likely be Sophie.

Rhythmix have no chance of doing well so they should go early and there is no way Gary will let Frankie go so I think it will be James.

Louis would rather turn straight than get rid of one of his joke acts so either Sami or hopefully talentless Jonjo will go.

A bit of a shit twist - it'd be better if four acts from any categories were going, then we could have Johnny, Nu Vibe, The Risk/Rhythmix and Frankie going. Although as it has to be one from each category, my choices would be the aforementioned, but without The Risk/Rhythmix and replacing them with Janet. I can't see Kelly booting Sophie, as she seems to love her, so hopefully she'll consider Janet.
With this twist Janet, Frankie, Nu Vibe and Amelia have absolutely no chance of going home unless they completely butcher the songs they sing which will not happen tbh.
