I think he means iTunes #1

Yeah that's what I meant. I thought it was implied by the second sentence 'shame it won't ever get the official no.1'

I agree, I think Girls Aloud and Will Young have managed to shake off their reality winner's tags too. Sure there'll always be people that refer to them just like I still see ABBA referred to as 'Eurovision winners turned superstars'. It's been a long time since I read 'Popstars: The Rivals winners Girls Aloud', they've eclipsed the show now. The nice thing about Will and GA is that they're still quite happy to speak of their time on the shows and still grateful for them as a launchpad.

I think because those two shows (Pop Idol and Popstars The Rivals) are no longer around, makes it easier for the reality tag to still not be associated with them, unlike X factor and it's stars, every year it's a reminder for past winners and there's so many artists being made from it now, that the reality tag, won't fade easy for any most recent winners.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if Maroon 5 went back to no.1? It's been 2 months already and it keeps receiving unexpected boosts. Shame it won't ever get the official no.1.

Well combined it's now 81.2%

Now imagine if Rihanna makes no.1 this week (as I think she will) and Matt Cardle doesn't make the impact many people think.

Maroon 5 for no.1 *next* week!

I'm still 99% sure it will today... I guess we'll wait and see.

The thing is I could see it happening  Although for Matt we'll have to wait until after the performance and Rihanna could easily pull away again but the strangest part is how low GCH are. This was supposed to be the week MLJ had NO chance. Still it'd be nice if Rihanna could get a 2 weeker because we desperately need one right now.

I know it could but I REFUSE to get my hopes up! It just seems it's not their 'destiny' to get a no.1. And, well, they're up against Rihanna of all people

You & I  #16

Hopefully top 15 soon and officially next week! I hope it outpeaks LoveGame!

'You & I' is yet another brilliant single from Born This Way.

All the singles so far have been amazing, but if I had to rate them:

Judas >>> You & I >>>> The Edge Of Glory >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Born This Way

I hate 'Hair' though.

For me it would be: The Edge of Glory (her best single to date imo) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Judas >> Born This Way >>> You & I

I think Gaga has messed up the singles this era so far, but hopefully she can recover by releasing the big songs in the future (MTN, then Scheiße, then Heavy Metal Lover, then maybe Hair :kink:). She did say at one concert that she was saving the biggest songs for last :w00t:

My logic was:

'Judas' is lyrically brilliant. The concept is strong and original and, although the music/melody blatantly rips off BR, it's the better song of the two.

'You& I' has that country vibe to it and, again, the lyrics are really good. The melody is infectious and the intro and outro are both awesome.

'The Edge of Glory' is incredible at times but can get a bit boring. The sax instrumental is amazing and the verses are great. Anthemic. But the lyrics could be stronger.

'Born This Way' seems like the most generic of the four. Maybe that is why it was picked as the lead single. Nice concept but a bit too camp and cheesy.

I wasn't being entirely serious there, just suggesting a possible scenario. But I am surprised at how fast Rihanna is falling.

Obviously Matt's X-Factor appearance tonight will be critical, most likely he will cruise to no.1 soon after and be no.1 overall next week.

Whether M5 outsells Rihanna or not next week will be irrelevant as regards the no.1 spot. But you never know.....

I think Matt pretty much has number 1 in the bag then, as long as he keeps climbing pre-massive XF boost, wow at how bad Gym Class Heroes are doing - I think fake versions really are a bad omen to any song, as they seriously hurt their overall sales
The fakes must be affecting GCH quite badly, that or it's not as popular as we thought. But then again when you search Stereo Hearts, the real version is the third one down.
It just shows how far Lady G has fallen in that it takes a 59p promotion to get her latest single to scrape into the iTunes top 20.

*cough* LoveGame *cough*

So Gym Class Heroes are doing a "Black and Yellow" then... saying that, Ke$ha started out very slowly with "We R Who We R" and still managed to make #1 despite seemingly being behind Bruno Mars on iTunes for most of the week so it may not be over yet for "Stereo Hearts".

Moves Like Jagger and Jar Of Hearts really have been the songs of the last 2 months, showing way more longevity than most of the songs that chart higher. I'm glad they're still doing really well even if it's just because of an X factor boost.

Using my points system :P Moves Like Jagger is #1 and Jar Of Hearts #2 for the last 7 weeks on 691 (!) and 652 points respectively. The A Team is third on 629, then fourth is, erm, Don't Go on 610 which really just shows how fast paced the charts have been recently.

So I'd agree with your post but include The A Team as well (which coincidentally has also got an XF boost - THEY'RE ONTO SOMETHING)

Rihanna isn't falling fast, Maroon 5 are gaining fast. Hopefully it's short lived and Rihanna will pull ahead again soon.
