Commentary

 

No change at the top of either chart this week. Lise Karlsnes makes it two weeks on top with the excellent Red Hot whilst Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera's former chart topper Moves Like Jagger stays put at No.2. Rihanna and Calvin Harris switch places with Sunday Girl as We Found Love moves up to No.3 and Love U More retreats to No.4. Lana Del Rey closes out the top five with Video Games climbing three places to No.5. Nicola Roberts and Ed Sheeran retain control of the album chart, staying put at No.1 and No.2 respectively. Danish pop band Aqua return at No.3 with new album Megalomania which pushes Le Kid and Will Young's former chart toppers down a place each to No.4 and No.5 respectively.

I really love the Pixie single too, her best for me since Boys & Girls :o It has a 'come back for more' factor that a lot of her singles lack.

 

As for The Collective, I really like the original and Tulisa's chorus on this version. As for the rappers, I know what you mean but I've sort of got used to it - the style of the rapping/talking reminds me of this song, a top ten hit in the late 90s;

 

 

I love the Sats song although still prefer Issues, which is one of my favourites of theirs :wub: I is great! The production is very Daft Punk Discovery era imo.

Each to their own, likewise I guess - your entry was in my 'good but not great' pile! Not that I'd have a problem with it finishing top ten, but who cares anyway, Kopecka have got this completely sewn up :lol: Sober isn't my favourite BJSC entry ever but nevertheless it's a very strong song and not a winner I'll be complaining about! We Found Love is brilliant, far better than Only Girl for me, I just wish it wasn't about to deny Moves Like Jagger of #1 :( As for Pixie, I found AAT just too generic to be huge in my chart, this new single has a bit more substance to it and I'm loving it!

 

I seems to be very love/hate, it's definitely either the favourite or least favourite of everyone, I guess it's an acquired taste - I absolutely adore it! I wouldn't say that Earthquake is as strong as Pass Out but I do really like it!

17. Haha, well it's proven its worth by hanging around since the early summer! It was goodbye to The A Team with this new top 40 format sadly...it will be back and doing big things in my end of year chart in two and a half months though!

34. You may not want to, the chorus is lovely, if predictable - the verses are a bit of a mess and very 'Choose Life' (as I posted in my response to Liam above) but bearable - I keep going back to the song though.

37. Agreed, I downloaded the sampler this week and honestly loved all five songs on it, it's slightly dated turn of the century style pop, but that's certainly no bad thing when the melodies are this good. Real shame that they've had minimal success :(

17. Haha, well it's proven its worth by hanging around since the early summer! It was goodbye to The A Team with this new top 40 format sadly...it will be back and doing big things in my end of year chart in two and a half months though!

34. You may not want to, the chorus is lovely, if predictable - the verses are a bit of a mess and very 'Choose Life' (as I posted in my response to Liam above) but bearable - I keep going back to the song though.

37. Agreed, I downloaded the sampler this week and honestly loved all five songs on it, it's slightly dated turn of the century style pop, but that's certainly no bad thing when the melodies are this good. Real shame that they've had minimal success :(

 

I should hope that the quality is still there, my favourite 40 songs are still here after all :P I considered cutting it back to a top 20 and a playlist but I think that would be too harsh, I've certainly got enough time to keep up a top 40!

 

Congrats on the full-time though! I'm sure you spend it dreaming of the day when you can compile charts for a living... :lol:

08 I've never really been a fan, though Mama Do and Boys and Girls were guilty pleasures of mine (I don't normally feel guilty for anything but I don't like HER -_- ) - this one might make my iTunes as well though! After Olly Murs anything is possible :o

7. Sadly not, the pre-orders for it are much poorer than I'd have expected, I can't fathom why either - I like the two first singles as much as the first two from Lungs...indeed at the start of 2010 she was literally everywhere, it was only 18 or so months ago so I don't know what happened...

8. I love Boys & Girls! It was one of my BJSC entries in October 2008 when to me and everyone else she was just another unknown MySpace artist! To say that I was shocked when she broke through and had a #1 with it is an understatement. Sadly it's been all downhill from there :lol:
