Posted October 21, 201113 yr Obviously there's no point asking where it'll chart, as #1 is an absolute certainty - but how much will its first week sales be?
October 21, 201113 yr Author I guess a good follow-up question would be - how high will then end in the Y/E chart. I'd say Top 5 definite - probably top 3, but #1 is out of the question. :P

October 21, 201113 yr If 'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends' can do over 300k in just the first three days or release, I can see this doing over 300k surely for the whole week? It may not have a #1 smash behind it, but the advert has been on TV for weeks and weeks.
October 21, 201113 yr 150-200k. There doesn't seem to be that much hype around it? Non? Not compared to the last few records anyway...
October 21, 201113 yr Coldplay have broken a pre-order record that was previously held by Adele. The band have become the most pre-ordered act of 2011 with their upcoming album Mylo Xyloto on Amazon UK. The record is the most pre-ordered disc this year so far and knocked Adele's multi-million-selling LP 21 off the top spot. "Despite a gap of three years since their last album, Coldplay are back with a bang," said Paul Firth, head of music buying at Amazon UK. "2011 has been Adele's year, but pre-orders of Mylo Xyloto have pushed Chris Martin's band to the top of Amazon.co.uk's music chart even before release, keeping recent releases from Noel Gallagher and Matt Cardle off the top spot." Mylo Xyloto is Coldplay's fifth studio album and will be released in the UK on October 24 and the US on October 25. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/ne...lo-xyloto.html
October 21, 201113 yr Close to the 300k that "Viva La Vida" did in three days, probably won't quite make it given the declining sales climate but it'll come seriously close. I can see it actually being the only week of the year where an album comes close to that figure, which is bizarre given how well Adele has sold and how anticipated "Born This Way" was. Still, Coldplay are a massive albums act and they've effectively had two top 15 singles already (how many people outside chart fans and the Coldplay hardcore will know "Paradise" was disqualified?) with a third likely to follow in the Rihanna duet.
October 21, 201113 yr I've said over 300k because my gut instinct is this will be absolutely HUGE. But really I'd only be surprised at anything under 200k.
October 21, 201113 yr Author how did the last one do at the end of the year? They ended up 5th, on 1.086m
October 21, 201113 yr Coldplay's first week sales for all previous albums Parachutes 70,000 A rush of blood to the head 273,924 copies X&Y 464,471 Viva La Vida 302,074 they do have massive openings but I can't help but think this album will fall short of the last 3. Im thinking 250k max
