Sadly there was an awful crash at the Malaysian Moto GP race at Sepang today.

Simoncelli's bike veered across the track at Turn11 into the path of Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi.

His helmet was knocked off and he lay down motionless.

The race was red flagged

Simoncelli was a very talented biker. He was the 2008 250cc world champion.

I've just seen this on the BBC website. Such a tragic loss, one of the most exciting MotoGP riders. RIP Marco, and my thoughts are with his family.

Was watching it live at the time and it is one of those moments in motorsport where you know the second it happened the person isn't going to survive.

Seems like it was Rossi's bike that struck his head/neck which will be doubly hard for Rossi as they were very good friends and he idolised Rossi and copied his hair.

Horrid week for motorsport, MotoGP has lost a huge larger than life personality.

My friend and I reckon that although it will be insanely hard for Rossi to get back on a bike, he should go out there with Simoncelli's helmet and win that race to honour his friend.

I was absolutely shocked when I heard about this on Sunday

Shame to lose a rider with such great personality and potential. Rest in Peace, Marco.
