It has to be physical sales propping up Cher Lloyd, and they tend to dwindle into insignificance very quickly. As for Pro Green, it's quite possible that RiRi will overtake him...

Didn't her EP debut high on the iTunes albums chart? If it did, then I'd suggest it was the pre-orders for that that have "propped" her up.

I can't believe that C.Lloyd is no.1 again! Who the hell is buying that crap song, especially after that underpar performance on The X Factor?

I agree, its absolute poop. Hopefully, she will lose the crown by the end of the week. Nicole is miles better and yet her single is only no16.

Both Nicole and Cher L are skanks if you ask me :puke2:
Hopefully Adele will finally get a Top 10 with "Set Fire To The Rain" after it was performed on the X Factor :)
Steps dropping way too quickly :( Ecstatic to see Florence heading for #1 though, it's a brilliant album!

oh dear, wasn't expecting such a dip for Coldplay and wasn't expecting Florence to beat them :( hopefully it will stay above 70k for this week, on a side note, what a FANTASTIC top 5 that is in the albums  (except maybe Prof Green, but he's still good), thank God Bieber's bombed (for now anyway)

so Green definitely back at number 1 in the singles tomorrow, which would mean another number 1 in a row spending 2 or more weeks at number 1 :D

Good to see Pro Green likely to retain the #1, but it was to be expected.

Very interesting in the albums - Florence's pre-orders will have been high but not stratospheric, so 100k looks achievable. That would have been minimum expectation with a decent sized hit preceding it, but with "Shake It Out" underperforming she's really pulled it out of the bag. Good on her, hopefully if she's on X Factor she'll be able to get some big sales in the run-up to Christmas.

Coldplay aren't that far away that they couldn't steal it, but they'll be declining as well so I don't think they'll manage it. Noel two weeks ago ended up being further ahead of Matt in actual number of copies by Sunday than he was in the mids, but his percentage lead fell throughout the week. I can see Florence doing similar.

I'm guessing Flo will end up with around 90k then? A bit dissapointing but then with Shake It Out flopping it was expected. Hopefully after her X Factor performance sales keep steady!

For the 1,000,000+ people that already own Gold, how many do you expect to pay £8 or £9 for Dancing Queen?

I reckon getting #1 was unexpected and to me (especially considering some other albums this year e.g. Nero) it's done brilliantly! (Plus they needed to add more dates to their tour, what more can they ask for? :P)

It's time for Bré's weekly ramblings!

(So it doesn't get lost in the ramblings, I'll put my request up here in bold - is Nero's Crush On You still top 40?)

Coldplay's sales are pretty much what I expected had we got sales today at all. It was obviously going to fall a lot sales-wise in week 2. I'm just hoping they can do 70k+ again and then hold up better from week 3 onwards... I really think they could still 'save' this era (although it is doing pretty well already) and get a fifth million selling album if they start promoting Princess Of China ASAP.

What I am surprised at are Florence + The Machine's sales :o When they overtook Coldplay to #1 on iTunes albums I did see the #1 coming but I thought it'd be pretty close between the two! I am glad though, hopefully it can sell upwards of 100k this week. Shake It Out back in the top 40 as well :cheer: Hope it can hold on all week.

There seems to be a bit of a mix-up with Adele's albums in the artist update - I assume it's 21 at 5+4 and 19 at 20+2? :P

I'm not the biggest Manics fan but still very pleased to see National Treasures - The Singles doing well today. It'll almost certainly lose its top 5 status to Rizzle Kicks by the weekend and probably drop to #7 behind Bublé or possibly even lower but fingers crossed it can at least stay top 10.

Assuming Rizzle Kicks do overtake MSP (and don't get overtaken themselves by Bublé) would this be the first time ever we have 2 British rap albums debuting in the top 5? Hell, it might even be the first time we've had 2 British rap albums in the top 5! It's not like they get there very often. And Professor Green is the first British rapper (at least of the current crop, I don't know if British rap was popular in the past) to get two top 5 albums AFAIA. Not bad going.

Justin Bieber flopping :cheer: I hope the album plummets after this week like 'Mistletoe' (and 'TCS(CROAOF)' which didn't even hang around for a week) did.

Big flop for Lou Reed/Metallica, behind a 20-year-old U2 album :o

I expected Cher to be #1 today but with a bigger lead, like The Wanted who started with a 6k lead (IIRC) - she'll definitely lose the #1 to Pro Green anyway. Hopefully Rihanna can reclaim #2 as well, although I do like both songs. Best case scenario (within the realm of possibility) would be Labrinth claiming back the #2 but that's highly unlikely.

Boo at Maroon 5 still being top 5 today. They're out of the top 5 on iTunes so hopefully Charlene Soraia (or, even better, Ed Sheeran and Charlene Soraia) will overtake them by Sunday. Although IIRC Charlene was ahead for all of last week then M5 clawed it back at the weekend :( Hopefully Ed Sheeran has a strong enough top 10 effect on iTunes to dislodge M5 and stay ahead of them.

Disappointed to see Danza Kuduro outside the top 10 today, I thought it might have been around #8 today.

Good to see SFTTR back in the top 20 and E.T. top 30 (even if I don't like the latter as much as I once did) :D Also fantastic that Paradise is only down 3 and Princess Of China still top 40, although I now think that'll drop out as it's now down to #38 on iTunes and Birdy is bound to overtake it as well as probably a few others (Nero?)

Big flop for Lou Reed/Metallica, behind a 20-year-old U2 album :o

It was to be expected, terrible album which has been ripped to shreds by Metallica fans and most of the internet since it was first made available for streaming.

Wouldn't take it as any sort of indicator of Metallica's career though, Death Magnetic was one of the Top 5 selling albums worldwide of 2008, and they're consistently one of the highest-grossing touring acts in the world.

'Lulu' isn't really a Metallica album anyway, more Lou Reede with Metallica as a backing band. I fully expect the next proper Metallica album (apparently due out near the end of 2012) will be the No. 1 album on most charts in the world just like Death Magnetic was.

Good to see Megadeth and Steel Panther in the Top 40 albums chart, although neither album is as good as their predecessors. Expect Megadeth to still be in the Top 40 by the end of the week, although Steel Panther will probably drop out :(

I actually think Rihanna could challenge for #1 this week, she's now really close to #1 on iTunes - she'll need to pull away quite a lot once she gets back there to make up the deficit of the first 3 days (Green's multiple versions won't help) but I think she could just about do it.

It wouldn't surprise me too much if Cher ends up falling to #4, Labrinth isn't far behind combined on iTunes and the other two are fairly certain to overtake her IMO. #3 is more likely (and she could hold onto #2) but it wouldn't surprise me. She'd need to fall quite a lot over the week.

While things could change by Sunday, note that the entire singles Top 5 are collaborations, which seems like a pretty rare occurrence. Has this happened before on the UK singles chart?

Last happened W/E 24 Jul 2010.

1 B.o.B feat. Hayley Williams - Airplanes

2 Yolanda Be Cool and DCUP - We No Speak Americano

3 Eminem feat. Rihanna - Love The Way You Lie

4 Katy Perry feat. Snoop Dogg - California Gurls

5 Professor Green feat. Lily Allen - Just Be Good To Green

(The #6 was also a collaboration: Mark Ronson and The Business Intl feat. Q-Tip and MNDR - Bang Bang Bang).

I can't believe that C.Lloyd is no.1 again! Who the hell is buying that crap song, especially after that underpar performance on The X Factor?

Her tards are buying that shit. Doesn't matter, she'll drop fast and won't sell that much. Shit songs are shit songs...

Didn't expect to see Cher show up at #1 - although 1k ahead will no doubt correct itself come tomorrow's midweek chart update. Great to see Maroon 5 still at #5 - that'll be a 12th week; surely a strong contender to beat Ed Sheeran's 13 weeks in the T10.

Album wise, I'm surprised the sales are so low for both artists - but I still reckon Coldplay will catch up/overtake and claim the #1 spot for a second week running, sales during the week will help us see the outcome. Great to see Pro' Green at #3 though and Rizzle Kicks away from the T5.

Woop woop for Cher ! At least "With Ur love" will have been a "one day" number 1  She is safe for top 3 I think so it's all good !

Wow for Florence on the album front ! Thanks god the poor performance of the single didn't arm the album too much.

Coldplay's sales are dipping a lot, aren't they? How much should they sell this week, compared to 208k last week ?
