Great sales for Flo! I expected her to get around 80k for the full week so this is much better! And with Shake It Out finally picking up just in time for the X Factor performance things look to be falling into place at just the right time!

Climb Adele, climb. "Set Fire To The Rain" deserves more than a number 11 peak!! In my opinion the best song from "21"...

It's not going to get there now - its #17 at best, and the XF boost has now well worn off.

Assuming Music Week have done percentages correctly, Coldplay are on ~46.5k today, so averaging 7.7k per day for the past 3 days. It needs to increase to an average of ~11.7-11.8k per day for the last 2 days to do 70k again. I think they should still do it.

Coldplay's 'Mylo Xyloto' is currently £5.99 on Play.com as the 'Deal of the Day' - so I expect that'll pick up quite a few extra sales. I've just purchased it, will save it as a Christmas present.

Saying that, Florence and the Machine's 'Ceremonials' will be elligible for £1 off on Sunday - permitting you enter 'FLORENCE' at the checkout - so that'll put it at a good start for its second week.

Is it Florence vs. Coldplay next week? With Florence dropping in initial sales - I reckon it'll be a close call. Deals such as the Florence one above may be what tips it for one artist.

Where exactly are 'Set Fire To The Rain' and 'Shake It Out' today?

Based on recent experience, that's a very big assumption

I think it's Florence vs. SuBo, F+TM also have an X Factor performance so I think they could hold on for a second week.

There are a whole bunch of big new releases next week: André Rieu, Birdy, Cher Lloyd, Pink Floyd GH, Pixie Lott, Susan Boyle and The Wanted are all top 10 contenders IMO. Coldplay could end up as low as #5 I think (behind Flo, SuBo, Pixie and The Wanted) - maybe even lower, André Rieu and Birdy I could see outselling Coldplay next week as well :( Hopefully they can manage a third week over 50k at least regardless of where they end up.

Sigur Rós - Inni is listed as a new album released next week - I haven't been keeping up to date with my Sigur Rós it seems, I thought that was a film :o Will have to check this new album out.

EDIT: Oh, it's a live album (and also a film) :( I hope we get new material from them soon, it's been too long since MSÍEVSE. I doubt 'Inni' the album will do much but hopefully it'll at least get top 40.

F+TM also have their XF performance on Sunday, that should surely keep it selling steady enough for a second week inside the top 2?

Hoping Cher can go top 10 with at least 30k next Sunday! Not expecting her to shift too much albums tbh, but hopefully it'll sell steadily.

Pixie's the week after. Personally I would have tipped her for the top spot next week but she'll never beat JLS.

I think Pixie has a chance to beat that mob, she has the stronger song. JLS will fall fast the week after with the new releases plus the fact that their singles are always front loaded to the extreme

She's still listed as being released on 7 Nov on the release schedule.

I may be wrong, but isn't Pixie's highest first-week sale lower than JLS' lowest (excluding OS and EWS)? She has no chance at all.

Well she changed it to the 14th like a week ago so unless she randomly changed it again, the release schedule is wrong.

You mean because he already is #1? :w00t:

I bet both RiRi & Lab are rapidly closing on Cher L too...

That's because the Radio 1 mid report had Cher Lloyd at #1 mid week

Anyone know if Tracey Thorn's new single "Night Time" is in the Top 75 at all?

Only have a top 40 update every week.

Where exactly are 'Set Fire To The Rain' and 'Shake It Out' today?

Adele 10+10

Florence 20+8

Adele 10+10

Florence 20+8

Florence set for a new peak then :cheer: And hopefully at least top 20 next week after XF :D

Really hope Adele clings onto the top 20.

Can I have the position of 'The A Team' as well please?

I think The Wanted and Pixie Lott have done considerably worse in their 'second album era'. Admittedly The Wanted are likely to sell more than they did with their debut, but 'Gold Forever' and 'Lightning' don't have the best chart runs - only 'Glad You Came' has stood out as a strong single for them this time. As for Pixie, the debut peaked at #6 - even on the back of two strong #1 singles. In fact, four more T20 singles couldn't even push it to a new peak.

I see The Wanted debuting at #3/4 and Pixie Lott at #4/5 (hopefully the following week though).

Susan Boyle may miss out on the top spot this time around it seems - Florence will no doubt experience a boost in sales following the X-Factor performance.

As for Cher Lloyd and Birdy - T10 at best. Birdy could one of many ways really - a T5 debut would be the cherry on the cake for her breakthrough really, wonder if she'll sell in the run up to Christmas. Certainly has potential.

It has already been asked :P

I don't get how Maroon 5 are still holding onto #5, surely something HAS to overtake it (Ed please) by Sunday?

Neither do I, down to no.9 on iTunes now so I don't see how it can still be no.5 overall.

I love MLJ and you hate it, but both of us are seemingly perplexed about it's stubborn

refusal to leave the top 5:)

It's just Fate punishing Bre for his Maroon 5 hate :P

My door number 22 :D

wow Florence doing really well, it should break the 100k barrier - i personally thought she would go the way of James Morrison and sell around 65k and be no2 behind Coldplay. That's one bad thing this week, Coldplay have literally plummeted this week.

Could you say this is the first week with the xmas shopping effect?

I think vidcapper defines the Xmas boost as being the 6 weeks in the run-up to Xmas - so by that definition it doesn't start for another 2 weeks.

Coldplay were obviously going to plummet, unless your name is Adele you can't sustain sales over 100k any more, let alone 200k. If they hold up decently from this point onwards I'll be pleased with the success of this era. Time is beginning to run out for them to get Princess Of China's video out and get it on the radio so they can benefit more from the Xmas boost though :(

Edited by Bré

Indeed they should get the video out soon, because with Rihanna on it it will get alot more video play.

Although I disagree with your argument that you can't sell much after week one unless your names Adele. Coldplay are Coldplay after all and they are the biggest band in the world. They have also released two single prior to release so i thought it would sell more this week.
