It's still losing sales and harming your first week position though. If you're going to hold back a release there's no sensible reason to release it on any day other than a Sunday.

Not really, it depends on circumstances. An act like JLS would be suicidal to release on a Saturday given their held-back singles are held back for AGES and are usually quite frontloaded. "It Will Rain", despite Bruno's fanbase, may have not even debuted at its peak were it released on a Sunday.

To put it simply, if it sells more next Sunday than it does today it's been a very smart move.

It's up to #69 now.

Where did you get this info?

Rihanna is touring in Germany and Switzerland and has a concert tonight and on Monday.. so it's possible for her to attend but I doubt that. And what's the point of performing PoC without her?

Artists perform collabs by themselves all the time. Like Kanye West performs E.T. by himself, Eminem performs Airplanes by himself, Nicki Minaj performs Till the World Ends by herself, Rihanna performs Run This Town and Live Your Life by herself, and so on, so I wouldn't find it particularly strange if they performed Princess of China without her sometimes.

Apparently Will Champion (the drummer) was going to sing Rihanna's part if she said no to appearing on it so presumably if they perform POC without Rihanna, her part will be sung by him.

Well of course I don't have a problem with them performing POC, but Paradise would have the same impact considering their album sales and might get a bigger boost on singles chart.

The only 2 performances I'm looking forward to are Lady Gaga (of course!) and LMFAO! I just hope they don't embaress themselves... And 'meh' at Justin Bieber.

Yeah. LMFAO's song could go VERY wrong when performed live if they get a bit too enthusiastic.

It has been rumoured that

Don't Stop The Music

by

Rihanna

will be performed tonight on The X Factor as part of "Club Classics" night. Possibly by Marcus but that is just an educated guess.

I remember someone performing that a few years ago too. I doubt it'll get much of a boost though, if it's true.

Also

Heaven (DJ Sammy), Like A Prayer (Madonna, Kitty is singing it) and I Gotta Feeling (Black Eyed Peas)

are rumoured. Hopefully the latter has no boost, it doesn't need it

It was

ALEXANDRA

who sang it, not just SOMEONE :o :P

If

I Gotta Feeling

is sung by Marcus, I will literally torture then kill Gary Barlow!

Same :( That goes for Tulisa, if she gives it to Little Mix, too!

Ha. Silly me. I just remembered it being performed, and it was really annoying, since that song was INCREDIBLY overexposed at the time. :(

Sunday is the biggest sales day - if you start the day already in the Top 10 and highly visible you are going to sell more in that week than if you spend the whole day slowly climbing into the 20s by the end of sales on Sunday. Not relevant for big acts agreed, but for those that need the boost it's a good tactic.

I get the feeling

(ahem)

that Frankie will probably be dumped with it.

I've got to be honest, I actually quite like the new JLS song (their best, and only decent, one) and for the first time wouldn't actually mind if they were #1.

Although I wouldn't be against them NOT being number one since it would make next week's chart less predictable.

I think if it's going to be performed - Frankie will no doubt be given it. I can imagine it now, it's the song best for his voice as it doesn't really require much vocal ability.

07. Maroon 5

^ This'll no doubt still be at #5 come tomorrow then, if it dropped to #9 during the week. Hopefully it'll survive the JLS-Tinchy-Pixie onslaught next week, which'll be made worse if Florence and the Machine jump into the T10.
