What a rubbish list, I only knew of a few of them beforehand, but checking the rest out I think I'll pass.

There seems to be no Adele and no Duffy on the list this year... Lana Del Rey is gonna screw the whole list with her album in 2012

Charli XCX is the only artist I've heard of that I would touch with a barge pole.

That's unfortunate then, given she isn't on the longlist

All I know from the list is Flux Pavilion, Spector and Niki & The Dove. I love to see Niki & The Dove win it, but its not going to happen.

WUT

Convinced I read that. Niki And The Dove are good on record but shite live.

Problem this year is all the real stars of next year have hit top 20 already

Lana

Emeli

Deliah

Labrinth

However I am pleased to see Friends, Dry The River  , Frank Ocean and Michael Kinawuka

It's a shame not see Unicorn Kid or Fixers though.

A few I've not heard of aswell so I can google them.

Looking at last years Ironically we're still waiting for an album from Daley and a second single from Jai Paul! (But his first was fantastic)

Kyla La Grange, Tribes and Alex Winston are good but obviously they're not being hyped enough to get them on the hype list.

HORRIBLE LIST. But Ren Harvieu...

[/url] She sounds like KD Lang, random, alright actually. Azealia Banks is bound to win, she's pretty good.

I honestly can't see who'd win from this, from what I've heard I like A$AP Rocky, Azealia Banks, Frank Ocean, Lianna La Havas, Niki & The Dove, Ren Harveiu and StooShe, I can only really see Azealia doing anything out of those tbh but I don't think she'll win....

Skrillex.

Azealia Banks should have decent success and I could see Frank Ocean being fairly big as well. Lianne La Havas strikes me as someone who could sell a LOT of albums but not many singles.

Skrillex.

Ah good point, tbh I just REALLY don't want him to win SO MUCH I'm blocking the obviousness out :(

I was reading the Sound of 2012 poll at work today and was disappointed. It's like they've focused on what the sound of 2011 has been and concentrated on which acts in 2012 are going to be the "sound of 2011" making them one year too late.

From the shortlisted 15, the highlight for me is Azealia Banks. :D

About time I gave some thoughts on these...

I don't really get the hype about Azealia Banks, and I'm not sure what to think of Dot Rotten yet, but I think he's capable of scoring a few hits next year.

Skrillex would be an interesting winner, although he seems to be quite popular already  I wonder how his songs will sell over the next year?

Friends, Stooshe, Flux Pavilion and Frank Ocean have all brought out at least one song I've liked.

Lianne La Havas' "No Room For Doubt" is worth a listen, same with Jamie N Commons' "The Preacher" :D

Haven't got much of an opinion on the rest yet.

Thought I'd bump the topic - considering the top 5 are announced Monday-Friday this week. The BBC make a really poor attempt to cloak the results really:

02 January - Skrillex is a guest on the show (meaning he's likely #5)

03 January

04 January - Dot Rotten's second single 'Are You Not Entertained?' receives its first play (meaning he's likely #3)

05 January

06 January

^ And I'm pretty sure Azealia Banks' 'Liquorice' is due a UK debut one of those mornings, so she's likely to be in the top 5. What do people make of it all, are they trying to throw us off by revealing these things, or simply stupid enough not to think it gives things away?

Surprising! I love them but I can't see them having much commercial success...
They'll probably have The Naked And Famous style success (one top 100 single and a short-lived top 40 album) I'd expect. Not heard much from them but I do love 'Mother Protect'

Urgh, Skrillex made the top 5 - just shows that the BBC are jumping on the bandwagon. The criteria for the competition is 'not well known to the public', Skrillex has been around for years - and I'd say a large percentage of the younger music generation will have heard of him / his remixes; don't think he should've been nominated.

Not sure who'll make the top 3 now - I stand by that Dot Rotten and Azealia Banks will be in the top 3, so possibly Michael Kiwanuka or Friends. I've already discovered some great acts thanks to this poll (Friends, Dry the River + StooShe), so the outcome doesn't bother me
