Not surprised Flo Rida is doing so well. I've been digging Levels since May/June cos it's a brilliant song. The song uses the sample very well.

there is no way itunes is a 48 hour chart, 24 hours max. when the likes of 1D or rihanna shoot to number 1 in matter of hours this year upon release it would mean they were selling incredible amounts to get there that fast if it were 48hour, more than their final totals showed.

 

It IS a 48 hour chart, this is proved when tracks are deleted from itunes and it takes them pretty much bang on 48 hours to disappear off the chart.

 

However I am pretty sure it is weighted towards recent sales, meaning sales in the last 12 hours would have a bigger effect than sales from 36 hours ago for example

It is slanted yeah. We're now over halfway through the sales week so Flo Rida would have to overtake Rihanna pretty much now and then outsell her by how much she's been outselling him up to now and more. I think he'll be 5-10k short.

I hope Cher can hold the top 10 in album chart come sunday, Looks like pixie could miss top 15 album by sunday :(, Am glad SP are still ahead of JLS, Hopefully both flo and rihanna will overtaken 1D by sunday! :)

Anyone to go number 1 in the album chart except Snow Patrol, I had convinced myself their popularity had decreased but sadly it appears the opposite is happening.

Their popularity is on the wane but far less quickly than other bands - even if "Fallen Empires" does make #1 it'll be on lower sales than "A Hundred Million Suns" which shifted 100k first week but stalled behind P!nk. Their "Up To Now" best of set two years ago has really helped them IMO.

Drake up 11 places in a day?! Must have been some missing data on that album then, pre-orders perhaps?

Drake at #4 in the albums chart - Yes! Think I may purchase it at the end of the week, the debut was so strong - 'Take Care' sounds even better from what I've heard. Great to see 'Take Care' featuring Rihanna already in the T30 too - would be quite amused if it climbed all the way up to the T10 and push The Saturdays even lower.

 

Pleased to see Christina Perri's 'A Thousand Years' in the T40 too - hopefully it can hold it until Sunday. Westlife at #20 is quite shocking too, considering it's #38 on iTunes. It may miss out on the T30 at this rate.

Let's be honest, even if the song was a 'we found love' type song it would still bomb as no one is interested in Westlife apart from their fans.

 

They are probably just waiting till next week to buy the Gh rather than buy a single that they will have on the album anyways. SH should sell well, definately a top 3 next week i think

And to pick up on your example, A Hundred Million Suns's stalling at 2 was only partially down to a slight decline in popularity but also the fact that Pink's popularity was soaring at the time. Snow Patrol have never really had a flop album post Final Straw IMO. I hope they make no.1 this week.

With reference to Snow Patrol my wish is their decline continues.

i actually believe we may get a christmas album at no1 this year as Michael Buble will just get bigger by the week, then he will probably have a X-Factor appearence and a saturday night audience with him

 

Bruno seems to be rising already as the result of the video for Let it Rain!

 

Coldplay single is holding up really well....it could have went as high as no1 if it had a held back release imo!
