Expect T'Pau - China In Your Hand to get high up the chart soon, it was performed on TXF and people like me are discovering the original for the first time

That track is my guilty pleasure

Look on the bright side - it's overtaken MLJ :P

107. China in Your Hand - T'Pau

Surprised this is doing so poorly - once I found out what this actually was (like I said, I didn't recognise it from its name) I was certain this would shoot straight to the top 10/20, it seems like exactly the sort of song that'd do that!

I think they have a bit of a stigma with older pop fans, they were seen as one of the worst (or at least cheesiest) bands of the 80s, much like Johnny Hates Jazz (who according to the retro forum are now reforming (whoop de bloody do). Also that song IS on every 80s comp ever.

Love On Top :w00t: :w00t: It should hopefully go top 20 after that 'Night with Beyonce' (I can't remember what it's called) next Sunday.
I disapprove of Love On Top outperforming the FAR superior Countdown. LOT is just repetitive annoyingness. Not annoying in the same way as something like Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) is annoying, but annoying nonetheless.
lol. Oh dear. Does it have a music video though?

Of course, it was played in the chart in december 2009 and ive seen it before on the c;assic rock channels.Typical VH1 pro pop/cowell c***s!!Just erasing history!! The fact that its a rock song should make no difference if they are playing christmas no1s.Should they omit slade for the 1973 no1 then - they were classed as a rock band?!

So angry I could write a letter

I didn't find Single Ladies annoying. :( I think it's legendary personally.

I'm not sure if this is true, but I read somewhere that Countdown's release in the UK got "cancelled". Which would explain why it got removed from Radio 1's playlist and replaced with Love On Top so suddenly. If that's true, it surely would've peaked higher with a full promotion campaign.

 I wasn't being fully serious about the rock thing. I mean, I used to watch the weekly charts on MTV sometimes, and they always played rock songs when they charted.

Perhaps they didn't have a clean edit for the video? But again, you'd think they'd prepare an edit if they were going to play the Christmas #1s. And there've been like 50 other songs in the chart this year with worse lyrics than that which I bet got played on that channel, so...

Basically, I don't know, but I'm sure there's a reason for this.

X Factor Finalists 2011 - Wishing On a Star

Emeli Sande - Daddy

StooShe - Betty Woz Gone

Sincere - Ain't Nobody Like You

These are the only new releases I know of, looking at the schedule. The Finalists' song will easily get No.1, Emeli should get Top 5, and maybe StooShe could go T30/40?

Maybe a album track will enter? We've had 2 album tracks enter the top 40 in the past 2 weeks, so it could happen again.

True, but with Drake and Rihanna's albums, you'd expect to see certain songs become popular cherry-picks. Not sure if I see the same thing happening with the likes of Olly Murs, Kelly Rowland or Joe McElderry. Although I could be wrong!

672. Daddy - Emeli Sande

843. Wishing On a Star - The X Factor Finalists 2011

With regards to "Killing In The Name", if the video is good enough for Kerrang et al then there's no excuse to skip it. "They don't play rock songs" is a completely w*** excuse because I'm sure the station would describe itself as a "pop channel" when "pop" is whatever's popular, which KITN obviously was and was eligible for the list.

I'd argue that "pop music" isn't actually a genre at all - it's a name for whatever is popular. Anything described as "pure pop" is either:

1. Such a pure distillation of whatever is popular at the time that it sounds like a hit record before it's sold a cingle copy

2. Something that's so devoid of the characteristics of any musical genre that "pop" is the only name you can use to describe it

321. The Edge of Glory (Live from "A Very Gaga Thanksgiving") - Lady GaGa

575. Daddy - Emeli Sandé

591. White Christmas (Live from "A Very Gaga Thanksgiving'") - Lady GaGa

656. Yoü and I (Live from "A Very Gaga Thanksgiving'") - Lady GaGa

683. Wishing On a Star - The X Factor Finalists 2011

EPs on Albums Chart

10. A Very Gaga Holiday (Live) - EP - Lady GaGa

20. Daddy (feat. Naughty Boy) [Remixes] - EP - Emeli Sandé

307. Us & Ourselves - EP - Morning Parade

544. 1996 (Remixes) - EP - The Wombats

The JLS song in the top 100 is their 3rd single and was performed on GN on Friday night, which may explain its sudden rise to no75!
Happy days! :w00t: Hope Reggie doesn't ruin it by ridiculing them though, he usually makes a smart comment!

Or what *he* thinks is a smart comment, anyway - but usually makes him look like complete prat.
