Posted November 23, 201113 yr At least for an artist album, rather than a compilation. This was suggested to me by Chris on uk.music.charts, and it seems to check out. Going back through the records, the only other specifically Xmas-themed album I can find topping the charts, was 'Now - The Christmas Album' in 1985!
November 23, 201113 yr Author Isn't Susan Boyle's The Gift a Christmas album? But it doesn't leap out at you as one, unlike Buble's.
November 23, 201113 yr But it doesn't leap out at you as one, unlike Buble's. wether it leaps out to you or not it was still a christmas album Edited November 23, 201113 yr by kindagood
November 23, 201113 yr The Buble album is absolutely awful! I've bought it for my mum as a Christmas present and gave it a quick listen to make sure the CD was fine. The CD is but the music isn't! Now - The Christmas Album topped the album charts at Christmas 1985, not sure whether you'd want to count that as a number 1 for the purposes of this thread but it was a Christmas themed album at number 1 over Christmas in the albums chart back when compilations were allowed on the main album chart. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Now_%E2%80%93...Christmas_Album In later versions of the album (from 1999 onwards) track number 7 was removed!

Yes - as I said in my initial post.
November 23, 201113 yr Where did Mariah Carey's "Merry Christmas" peak?Number 32. Its chart run wasn't that brilliant 45-54-58-55-45-32-32-103-OUT
November 23, 201113 yr Bought it for my mother, he'll get alot of sales through that kind of thing. His fanbase are used to covers so it's no surprise it did well. It's not a bad album actually, coulda been worse.
November 23, 201113 yr The classic yuletide "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" sounds so great on Michael Buble's voice, and with those jazzy vibes. His latest Christmas compilation entitled Christmas peaked No. 2 on Billboard Hot 200 and now enjoys Buble's visuals too. The Canadian singer wonders and sings down the pavement on a snowy night, whit the houses decorated for holiday. He also greets the people passing by with presents in their hands, and with happy faces. Michael gives us a warning looking straight to the camera that "I know a big fat man, with the long white beard, He's coming to town."

Actually "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" is the best song on his album. It does have a nice jazzy sound.

November 24, 201113 yr I hope you give her the CD before Christmas, listenting to Christmas music after 24th December is just horrid!I'm going to give her the CD this afternoon! I agree about listening to Christmas music after Christmas not being right. Listening to this album just isn't right at any time... :o
