I was going to post that, but I thought that the question was so retarded I didn't want to waste my time! :P

Do projected figures not mean anything? I can't post a link but she's only predicted to sell 180k and debut at number 2 behind Nickleback

They're still pretty floppy figures for an artist of her calibre.
Loud only debuted at 3, granted it sold a little over 200k still but that era went fine for her.

According to Hits Daily Double Rihanna’s new album, Talk That Talk is set to debut at number two on the Billboard Top 200 charts, which is not bad, but the overall sales numbers fall under 180,000 copies. Rihanna’s last album, Loud, sold over 207,000 copies. Talk That Talk sales are shockingly low with the success of the lead of single, “We Found Love.”

Rihanna has been doing well on the iTunes charts with her single, “We Found Love.” The single is holding at number three on the iTunes charts. Talk That Talk is the second most downloaded album on iTunes behind Coldplay.

They really are quite low sales for an artist like Rihanna to be having in the first week...regardless of how her past albums have fared.

I remember thinking the same last year with 'Loud' and I was hoping 'Talk That Talk''s first week sales would be much higher, but clearly not.

Well Talk That Talk doesn't deserve bigger sales than LOUD because it's not as good. I also don't think it will pass a million in the UK although 3x platinum would obviously still be a huge success. The reason it has lower first-week sales in the US is probably that it only has the support of one big single because You Da One is yet to take off, whereas What's My Name? was already huge when LOUD came out.

Talk That Talk is pretty much falling in line with expectations taking into consideration her other albums opening weeks etc. She's always been a bigger single act than album act in the states.

Besides, with Black Friday sales predictions are surely going to be a bit off this week.

Rihanna isn't an album seller in the US ever since GGGB so 180k isn't bad for her.
I was going to say that it's appalling by her standards but Jark makes a great point that she's selling off one massive single rather than two huge ones. Saying she's "flopping" is just a flat-out lie, "underperforming" is debatable but certainly not flopping.
