Popjustice: owned by that complete and utter f***ing c**t Peter Robinson.

'Nuff said.

Album is good although not as instant as I expected. Carmen, Without You and Summertime Sadness are sticking out at the moment.

Going to stick to the demo of National Anthem I think. This Is What Makes Us Girls might grow, but I think I prefer the more upbeat demo.

The final 'National Anthem' is dreadful. Listening to the rest now, hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I have to say I really enjoyed that popjustice article. My only criticism is that they used thinkpiece too many times. Amateur mistake.
It does come across as an ironically patronising article, considering that it's elitism which he seems to be trying to rally against here. And is he also suggesting that the inability for a popstar to sing live is not a problem?

I dislike music snobs as much as anybody else but Lana's recent criticisms are hardly without reason or logic, therefore I find this article rather unfair to say the least.

Exactly, she's had a run of poor performances and people shouldn't be blind to that. However, Lana Del Ray is in no way a pop princess or a pop star. She's more akin to Aimee Mann.

What a great album! Summertime Sadness and This is What Makes Us Girls, especially the latter, are early highlights, not counting singles + Off To The Races.

Aimee Mann!

Not often mentioned round these parts but such a wonderful artist...

Could anybody PM me a working link for the album please? I've been looking everywhere for hours and all I seem to come up with is virus filled monstrosities on download sites I've never heard of before :( I've got the deluxe on pre-order but I already feel like I'm missing out!
It's an amazing album. I can't really fault any one song. I don't know, it might be a bit too depressing of a listen all the way through at times (not that I didn't expect it) but it's very good anyway. All the songs stand up on their own merits. I love the new Diet Mtn Dew.

I knew there'd be a backlash against her at somepoint. Her dodgy performances didn't help matters but when the spotlight turns to you, it is so important to get it right. She seems to get so many negative comments on youtube :(

I just want her album to be huge to hush her critics.

As for National Anthem, I was initially a bit disappointed with the snippet but I think it'll fit into the album better. There's also nothing to say that the demo might not get included on a deluxe album or in an EP should it ever get released as a single.

Million dollar man is completely stellar, the strings are epic, her voice is just amazing, and I love the emotion, I like feel the heartbreak completely. Other standouts dark paradise and I'm still loving born to die. Some songs were better as demos, isn't that what happens, you hear something and you always like it that way.
The album is FANTASTIC. Not a single track below 7/10!
The album is not as good as I wanted it to be. Born to Die and Off to the Races are my favorite tracks on it. I expected it to be better lyrically (it's really a clunker on that area) and to have stronger melodies, and more of an explosive orchestral production.
I figure there is no way I am going to like this album - for a variety of factors. Mainly, I'm not very receptive to getting to know new music at the moment. I dont think any of it will register with me. I could well be surprised.
