I mean an X Factor related act (and I also mean throughout the promotion of the programme - i really wasn't clear with that) - JLS, Olly Murs, Cher Lloyd, One Direction, Matt Cardle and Rebecca Fergueson have all performed on the show but have failed to get to #1 - it's a massive change to when we had instant #1s from Cheryl Cole, Alexandra Burke, JLS and Leona Lewis.

But Olly, Cher, JLS and 1D all went number 1 without even needing an X Factor boost!

That makes sense now. I was thinking that Cher, One Direction and others had been number one, but did it without appearances on the X Factor of their respective songs. :D

But they didn't get to #1 with the singles that they were promoting on the programme - that is my point

Most stopped by a monster hit in We Found Love and Olly would have got number 1 this week on the back of hsi performance if not stopped by X Factor. Plus Olly's album has went number 1 on the back of his performance. Although yeah the power of the X Factor Sunday show has waned a little bit.

Though would Olly have gone number 1 if Rihanna didn't perform on X Factor?

Very Interesting tune from Jason, anyone reconize the Toto sample on the record

Very good question. I think her album being out and Now 80 had just as big an effect but it helped her. They should really have both been on the same show but that's the way it goes. maybe Olly's album sold beter on the back of his X Factor performance than it would have with a weeks gap so it's all good.
