Same :D #2 next week with ease, then hopefully replacing the X Factor winner. How bizarre if the next three #1s were songs by Damien Rice, Nirvana and Coldplay :o

Wow, after the way the charts have been in 2011, THAT would be something! :o

I think the charts might be starting to diversify again for next year, because generic club bangers like Down For Whatever, Marry the Night and Fight For You aren't doing as well as I might've previously feared. And COLDPLAY and T-PAIN are the top 2, when RnB and alternative music have been practically non-existent the entire year!

My feed doesn't have Coldplay at #1 yet but OMG SO HAPPY. Reaches #1 for the first time on its 90th day of release (48th day of the album version's release) without ever going far below #20 (with its top version) in that time period!

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!

COLDPLAY #1 WITH PARADISE?? Wow never expected that :o :D So Happy with that! Wow, are they performing tonight or tomorrow night?

Tomorrow I think - I don't think there are any guest performers tonight.

I think they've either dropped back to #2 already or iTunes has reverted though because I can't get them to appear at #1.

Dont worry Bre they are #1 and hopefully will extend their lead to a healthy one :P Ah so pleased! :D

Yup, they are showing up at #1 for me now as well :cheer: Must have been a slow/reverted feed.

Well, 'traditional' R'n'B and hip-hop have at least. You know that its a bad year for those genres when a massive hit like "Black and Yellow" can only get to #5 after a held-back release. It's also sad for alternative that it takes the biggest band in the country to write a solid gold pop song and it takes three months for it to make #1.

1 Coldplay - Paradise 1.0000 0.9850

2 T-Pain - 5 O'Clock (feat. Wiz Khalifa & Lily Allen) 0.9830 1.0000

The best message I've posted here since forever, too bad that it doesn't here for this week number 1.

Could be next week's though, if the X Factor single is underwhelming (well, when isn't it, but I mean if it's by an act no-one cares about/is an awful song)...

:w00t: @ Coldplay anyway.

Nah, it'll still sell a minimum of 200k regardless. I can't see any other single - not even 'Paradise' - having that much selling power next week.

The X Factor winner will most likely be #1 next Sunday. It's the following week (chart announced on 25th Dec) that could be the most interesting but even then I can't help but think TXF winner will just get two weeks at #1.

Yeah, in the US, of the 51 weeks in the year, there has been a hip hop song at #1 for 1 week (Black and Yellow), rock/alternative/indie songs for 0 weeks, and pop songs at #1 for 50 weeks (although Grenade and E.T. are a bit urban).

Sad state of affairs really.

With the week after next, I think it can only be one of the campaigns or the X Factor winner again, since I don't think there's any way the X Factor winner could drop in sales far enough.

Paradise  #2

Didn't last long...

I think it's more likely your feed has reverted like mine did earlier.

Well not him, I just find him so cliche and he'd be another dull male winner who'd flop afterwards. It's actually better for him NOT to win.

I think you are being a bit closed-minded and presumptuous. Just because he is male, it doesn't mean he will be "yet another dull winner who flops afterwards". Why don't you just listen to his musical output first?

Marcus is NOTHING like Leon, Joe or Matt. He's an all-rounder and has the most commercial appeal out of all the male winners (except possibly Shayne although he was always marketed as the JT-clone).

It's just very irritating to read everywhere that he'll be another Joe when no one actually has a clue how marketable he could actually be. I bet if Bruno Mars was in his position right now, everyone would say he's destined to flop.

He is incredibly marketable. You are ignoring the fact we're talking about Syco here.
I kind of want Little Mix to get signed to Syco, because then they'll get Labrinth and Fazer (from N-Dubz) as producers, which means awesome songs. I can't imagine Amelia working with them, and I don't know who Marcus is.

Combined Kworb popularity:

[04] 01. Coldplay - Paradise - 1.0000

[01] 02. T-Pain - 5 O'Clock (feat. Wiz Khalifa & Lily Allen) - 0.9830

[03] 03. Olly Murs - Dance With Me Tonight - 0.9669

[02] 04. Lloyd - Dedication to My Ex (Miss That) [feat. Andre 3000 & Lil Wayne] - 0.9286

[06] 05. Avicii - Levels (Radio Edit) - 0.7988

[05] 06. Rihanna - We Found Love (feat. Calvin Harris) - 0.7940

[07] 07. Mariah Carey - All I Want for Christmas Is You - 0.7116

[08] 08. Ed Sheeran - Lego House - 0.5772

[09] 09. Drake - Take Care (feat. Rihanna) - 0.5265

[10] 10. Jessie J - Who You Are - 0.4872

The Pogues are #11 combined.

Taking Leon out of this you're right he is nothing like Joe and Matt. Matt is not my thing for many reasons but he (and Joe) are far more talented than Marcus. He is just ordinary. Of course people need to be able to sell their music but jeez it seems that having any talent in the first place now is irrelevant as long as they can be sold to a load of stupid teenagers for a couple of years to make a quick buck. Marcus is not an all rounder either in my opinion he can do the fast numbers but his version of "Lately" for example was woeful.

For me Amelia is the best singer. If that counts for anything :)
