Posted December 6, 201113 yr Chart programmes over the Christmas / New Year period on Radio 1 Sunday December 25: The Official Chart show with Reggie Yates - 4pm to 7pm Saturday December 31: The Top 40 Singles of the Year with Tom Deacon - 4pm to 7pm Sunday January 1: The Official Chart with Scott Mills - 4pm to 7pm ==== Good news, finally top 40 chart of the year gets a separate show on a Saturday. Bad news, there is still a week to count, so the show will be incorrect, nothing new there
December 6, 201113 yr I remember them having a Top 40 of the year on New Years Eve back in 2004 and I think it actually was correct up to December 30th, rather than just Christmas Day / whenever the last chart week had been, so I'd say it'll be more accurate than one would expect. Of course 2004 was the year that Scissor Sisters overtook Keane as the biggest selling album in the dying hours of the year, so the chart was still incorrect
December 6, 201113 yr I very much doubt they will include all sales up to dec 30th. They've never done that before, they only seem to deal in full weeks so the dec 30th chat will, in my opinion, only cover sales until christmas eve.
December 6, 201113 yr TOTPs on bbc one on xmas day as ever? Ferne Cotton hasnt said much about it yet. The xmas no1 WONT be on it though!
December 6, 201113 yr TOTPs on bbc one on xmas day as ever? Ferne Cotton hasnt said much about it yet. The xmas no1 WONT be on it though! It could be. The chart will have been compiled by the time the show goes out. Therefore they can record two (or more) alternative endings and slot the right one in on the day.
December 6, 201113 yr Ooh, good to see the EOY chart taking place on a different day rather than being aired in place of a proper chart :D
December 6, 201113 yr Personally I don't think this is a very good idea - surely it would be better to broadcast the EOY chart aired in place of the least busiest chart of the year? :(
December 6, 201113 yr I'm glad there's a seperate show for the year-end top 40. Although there's always that week where all the old songs get back in the chart and the weekly chart ends up being similar to the year-end top 40 anyway. Edited December 7, 201113 yr by Eric_Blob
December 7, 201113 yr Great to see the year end chart having its own slot... next question is will they be doing a countdown such as "Top 100 Downloads Of All Time" on the New Year's Bank Holiday this year? :)
December 7, 201113 yr It could be. The chart will have been compiled by the time the show goes out. Therefore they can record two (or more) alternative endings and slot the right one in on the day. Ahh indeed good stuff. My fav of the holidays is still the continued updated TOTPs2 Christmas edition!! Anyone know when the Christmas Radio Times is out to get the exact times?

December 9, 201113 yr Hmmm, interesting, it seems that The Christmas Top Of The Pops will announce Christmas number one before the Radio 1 chart show: Top Of The Pops back again for Christmas 12:31 | Friday December 9, 2011 By Paul Williams Top Of The Pops is returning to TV screens for its annual Christmas Day appearance with a studio line-up exclusively comprised of UK artists. Although the show was axed after more than 42 years as a weekly fixture in July 2006, it has continued to have a presence on the BBC One December 25 schedules ever since and this year is no exception with the programme due to go out that day between 2 and 3pm. Being recorded this Monday (December 12) at BBC Television Centre in London, the hour-long programme will include among its performers Example, Pixie Lott, Rizzle Kicks, Ed Sheeran, The Wanted and Will Young. Professor Green featuring Emeli Sande, Olly Murs, Noah & The Whale, The Vaccines and whoever wins The X Factor final on Sunday will also feature. The way the calendar falls this year with December 25 on a Sunday means the Official Charts Company’s Christmas chart will come out on Christmas Day itself and Top Of The Pops is due to unveil who is number one on the countdown just before the Queen’s Christmas Message is screened. The programme will be hosted by Fearne Cotton and Radio 1 Top 40 host Reggie Yeates who said: “Hosting the yearly specials of Top Of The Pops with Fearne Cotton is one of the highlights of my year; it’s always such a thrill to present such a loved show.” Cotton added: “I’m so happy Top of the Pops is back for another Christmas special. It’s a wonderful tradition that I’m so proud to be part of. Great bands, live music and a sprinkling of fake snow thrown in to the mix! It’ll be lovely teaming up with my old mate Reggie Yates again, too. See you Christmas Day.” In addition to the Christmas Day special, BBC Two will screen what is being billed as an affectionate tribute to the first ever Top Of The Pops host Sir Jimmy Savile who died in October just two days before what would have been his 85th birthday. Sir Jimmy Savile at the BBC: How About That Then? will include archive material from the legendary music show and will go out on what was its traditional airtime of 7pm on a Thursday on December 28. http://www.musicweek.com/story.asp?storycode=1047798 Fearne Cotton disingenuous as ever...
December 9, 201113 yr Hmmm, interesting, it seems that The Christmas Top Of The Pops will announce Christmas number one before the Radio 1 chart show: They did that in 1994 and 2005 too I recall, the only times the chart was announced on Christmas Day.
December 9, 201113 yr Author They did that in 1994 and 2005 too I recall, the only times the chart was announced on Christmas Day. They probably just announce the #1, surely they won't run a countdown.
December 9, 201113 yr They probably just announce the #1, surely they won't run a countdown. They could do a countdown. After all, Reggie will be around for the Chart Show so he could do it then with pictures of the artists. I doubt they'll bother though. They just have to hope there isn't a completely unexpected number one
