I hope 'The One That Got Away' and 'Love On Top' receive major boosts from the "gift card effect" this year.

They won't. The gift card effect happens to old songs that are already big hits.

I think Alex Day is #1 when you combine all the other remixes, who would have thought that would happen after MWC cracked the #1 early in the morning.

Oh I know but it doesn't stop me hoping. :D

My predictions for which songs will benefit most are:

Adele - Someone Like You

Rihanna - We Found Love

LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem

Maroon 5 feat. Christina Aguilera - Moves Like Jagger

Olly Murs - Heart Skips A Beat

One Direction - What Makes You Beautiful

JLS - She Makes Me Wanna (maybe to a lesser extent?)

Lady GaGa - Born This Way

Jessie J - Price Tag (feat. B.o.B)

Bruno Mars - Grenade

The most unusual and unexpected Christmas number 1 then :o

I would much prefer Alex Day to be #1, but there's so much hype for Military Wives it has no chance of missing #1. :( It is great to see a contender coming from nowhere to challenge the xmas #1 - hopefully next year the battle will be bigger/have more contenders now that X Factor isn't guaranteed #1 anymore

All Alex Day entries are falling now though.

It was obviously going to be extremely front loaded with the amount of versions it had

I don't think I've seen a song before that's had so many versions in the top 300 before

The only other track I can think of that had so many different versions charting on iTunes was 'With Every Heartbeat' by Kleerup with Robyn.

There was a Radiohead single as well iirc that had all the elements available to buy (ie; just the drums, just the bass, just the vocals, etc...) but I don't think that was chart qualifiable.

I think it was, "Nude" charted at #21.

The XF winner hasn't been guaranteed Xmas #1 ever since 2009.

I would rather neither were Xmas #1 tbh (that Alex Day song is terrible). I'd actually prefer Nirvana to be #1 if Little Mix can't get it. At least it is a great song.

'Should I Stay' by The Cameleonz had about 18 versions, one in the low top 100 and the rest all in a big clump somewhere in the top 150. It showed up in the top 30 on the first mids then vanished because it was made ineligible from the chart for some reason.

I'd prefer Coldplay - Paradise over the lot :cheer:

01. Millitary Wives - Wherever You Are 100%"

02. Little Mix - Cannonball 65.2%

Little Mix might still get number one now, Millitary Wives have decreased over 15% since Yesterday.

The #1 download at a stretch, the Wives' physicals will sink them into oblivion. Strange that physicals should play a major part in deciding a non X Factor xmas #1 in 2011 but it does look as though the download and physical #1 *might* not match.

Nirvana only 15 combined  Ooops

Plus if LM ever get back to number 1 it'll be midweek.
