i think thats a solid start for little mix, considering the song doesnt suit them at all and its not xmas week. as long as they sell 500k up til xmas they will do fine

Rihanna has a +6.5% increase on albums.

so probably the whole Top5 and even some more are going +100K this week

Sure do you think they can shift almost 400k by the weekend though which would be what they would have to do to match the last two years? Will be pretty tough. I guess we'll see. Also the Physical was released midweek for Matt too? At least I thought I read that on one of the discussions.

Definitely not 400k, but the single will get a bit of a sales boost on Thursday when the physicals are added to the downloads, not sure how much yet. I can't really put a figure to it, its impossible to tell.

It's hard to say really. Joe had the Rage campaign which definitely helped him to sell more than he would've, whilst Matt had problems because of the snow so could well have had higher first week sales than he did (but then with lower 2nd week sales). It was also Christmas number one week, maybe people are waiting until next week, but I can't see it being a particularly significant number. Perhaps more people will be buying a physical rather than download in compairison to last year but is that likely? I'd have thought Little Mix would appeal less to the physical generation than Matt did?

Yes I agree. Matt's audience would have been more 'adult' if I can put it that way and after the hype of winning Sunday you would think that would be the high for downloading. Not sure if the campaign helped Joe but even if it did I don't think it would have been by a lot. Certainly didn't help him for the first year of his career LOL.

I'm interested to see how it pans out as I have thought for a while the show although still very popular is less popular with older viewers than it was. Mainly because of the acts they are putting through. They are obviously going for a younger market.

Why is Paradise climbing?

For the 500th time :P, sorry you are just one of many, X Factor boost and Graham Norton

The physical is yet to hit the shops, which will be tomorrow, that will come into effect from Thurs mids onwards.

True but it was also true of Matt Cardle last year etc.

Little Mix's sales were never going to be comparable to Matt's etc as they are releasing a week earlier than every other X Factor winning single (except Steve Brookstein). A more fitting comparable would be how many they sell after 2 weeks as the sales in those TWO weeks would ordinarily have been condensed into one week running up to the Xmas No 1
The top 40 albums is so static, only one entry into the top 40 (Adele). Unfortunately for some people who've played the Xmas competition, Kate Bush isn't the album that's fallen out.

Does that mean that the people who entered early and got Kate's initial drop badly wrong may yet get the last laugh?

I would say so - I think the Kate and Nickelback chart runs this week and next will ultimately be the deciding factor.

It certainly helped his sales. I would say without the huge xmas #1 battle that went on with Joe he would have been looking at 300k max. If the 'Wives' do indeed put up a big fight for xmas number 1 next week it will surely boost Little Mix's sales too.

So more than 150k people bought it coz of the campaign? I find that very difficult to believe. Especially as Joe had such a huge winning margin. I guess we'll never know..

SO MX is on course of selling 130K +/-? nice I guess...

I was hoping that, as I'm less 'out' on Kate Bush now but Nickelback still screwed me over royally :/ I thought it would be #21 at this point apparently

Anyway, back to the chart - Little Mix then look to be on course to sell around 150k-180k downloads and maybe 50k-100k CD's (it's almost impossible to guage though) - an opening week of 200-280k overall? Would be the lowest since Steve Brookstein wouldn't it :o

Maybe they'll sell another 150k next week but the Military Wives really look like a certainty for xmas #1 right now imo...

Only 68k for Little Mix  If I remember correctly the first day sales "Louder" were around the same, this is such a massive flop for X Factor :o It won't even shift 200k if it sells like this :( and next week will be an easy win for Military Wives Choir, with them breaking pre order records and everything

It got mad towards the end of the week, multiple downloading, using free codes to download the songs, buying extra copies of the cd. It was the biggest xmas chart battle i can remember and people who wouldn't normally buy either purchased one or the other depending on what side of the fence they fell. I mean 400k downloading 'rage' basically because of the chart battle not because of the song, shows you 150k extra for joe because of the same reason is not hard to believe.

450k people bought it precisely because of a campaign

Subsequent sales of his singles/ albums demonstrate his true popularity arguably. Anyway, not wishing to turn this thread into another Joe McElderry yawn a thon the point is, as I stated Little Mix's sales should be compaired after two weeks to Matt's (etc) first week sales.
