December 30, 201113 yr Author http://i52.tinypic.com/2hrg0h4.jpg No.10 Lana Del Rey - Video Games Peak: 5 HO1OV5B_JDw Mini Commentary: So different from any other music around, her deep voice just give me goosebumps, the track has been around for ages, deserves to become one of those tracks that can be appreciated in years to come. Hopefully 2012 can be a good year for Lana will her debut album due around March of next year. Her current new single Born To Die resides at #2 in my personal chart this week.
December 30, 201113 yr Author http://i54.tinypic.com/sybloi_th.png No.9 Ed Sheeran - The A Team Peak: No.1 [for 2wks] UAWcs5H-qgQ Mini Commentary: This track just took me by surprise when it was first release and it grew on me on every listen and remains one of my favourite tracks of 2011. The lyrics are so meaningful and his voice is so soothing to hear on the ears, and his music is fresh. His album is not everybody's cup of tea, but its worth listening to it.
December 30, 201113 yr Author http://i39.tinypic.com/zl7qzb.png No.8 Will Young - Jealousy Peak: No.5 9MHtrM-jf9o Mini Commentary: I'm not a Will Young fan but this is ranked among his best hits to date, and never gets gets old. His album is fairly good, its a welcome return for Will Young. Jealousy remains a firm favourite track of 2011 for me and bringing Will back in the forefront of the music industry, welcome back Will. I never thought the track will finish in my top 8 in my year to date chart, the track is just beautiful.
December 30, 201113 yr Author http://i56.tinypic.com/esm7id.jpg No.7 Maroon 5 feat. Christina Aguilera - Moves Like Jagger Peak: No.2 iEPTlhBmwRg Mini Commentary: One of the catchiest and infectious tune of 2011, once the track gets moving you be dancing on your feet to the beats of Move Like Jagger, supplying the sultry voice of Christina Aguilera to the track and its guaranteed to be a hit, shame the track got stuck at #2 in the official chart behind the weekly #1s in the autumn. Oh well the public have some bad taste in music.
December 30, 201113 yr Author http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/CAD3123CD.JPG No.6 St Vincent - Cruel Peak: No.1 [for 5wks] Itt0rALeHE8 Mini Commentary: One of those tracks that grew on me after I spotted it in Mykul's personal chart and it just clicked all the boxes with me straight away. The track peaked at #1 for 5 weeks, on the back of the single I bought their album Strange Mercy, and the album is just beautiful, notable tracks on the album are Chloe In The Afternoon and Surgeon, I totally recommend the album to anyone who hasn't listen to any music from St Vincent, the lead singer was once part of the Polyphonic Spree band.
December 30, 201113 yr Author http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/3214/midnightcity.jpg No.5 M83 - Midnight City Peak: No.1 [for 2wks] dX3k_QDnzHE Mini Commentary: This is the first time a French band has ended in my top 5 year to date chart. The production of the track is just beautiful and the use of the Sax just makes the track more uplifting, its a beautiful haunting electro ballad track, the track can also be found on their current double album, which I found a bit of a mouthful to listen to in the end, I rarely play it now.
December 30, 201113 yr Author http://i52.tinypic.com/2s7xa8k.jpg No.4 Katy B - Broken Record Peak: No.1 [for 5wks] oES929aenGc Mini Commentary: What can I say about this track its just beautiful and it all fits into place its got a great production around it, one of the best hits of 2011 along with her debut album On A Mission. Witches Brew, Easy Please Me and Movement I find are the best stand out tracks on the album, not my style of music but it grew on me and became one of the best albums of the year.
December 30, 201113 yr Author http://i53.tinypic.com/2sayu5v_th.png No.3 Florence + The Machine - What The Water Gave Me Peak: No.1 [for 3wks] am6rArVPip8 Mini Commentary: The buzz track from her Ceremonials album, this track just sticks above the rest from the album, its got a haunting sound to the track, its something that Bat For Lashes would have recorded, which takes Florence to a different level to her sound. Other memorable tracks from her Ceremonials album are Never Let Me Go, Breaking Down, Spectrum and No Light No Light. Ceremonials is my favourite album of the year. Her music never disappoints she has come a long way since her debut album Lungs, with her excellent version of You Got The Love and Rabbit Heart.
December 30, 201113 yr Author http://i54.tinypic.com/2utp9oy.jpg No.2 Clare Maguire - The Last Dance Peak: 1 [for 8wks] qtdsqUlPdCk Mini Commentary: This was tipped for my year to date chart #1 a few months back, and has fallen down to the runner up spot of #2. Another haunting ballad which makes it around 4 in the top 10, she came 5th on the Sound of 2011. Her album Life After Dark remains one of the best albums of 2011 for me and the Last Dance is just perfect and stayed at #1 at the beginning of the year and amassed 8 weeks at #1, beating the previous record of 7 weeks held by Kings Of Leon with "Use Somebody"
December 30, 201113 yr Author http://i55.tinypic.com/2lx7zti_th.png No.1 Foster The People - Pumped Up Kicks Peak: 1 [for 6wks] SDTZ7iX4vTQ Mini Commentary: Firstly thanks to West for a great discovery, at first I was literally on the fence over the track than the track was entered in the Unknown Pleasures competition, afterwards it just clicked all the right boxes. Spending 6 weeks at #1 and becoming my favourite single of the year spending over 24 weeks in my personal chart and the track never gets old, its catchy and remains loedged in your brain. On the back of this single I bought their debut album, the rest of the album just clicked with me their music never strays off, the stand out tracks on the album are Warrant, Helena Beat and Call It What You Want.
December 30, 201113 yr I hazzard a guess that Pumped up kicks was going to be number 1  seeing it wasn't any other number :D Still would've preferred Claire over that but each to their own. Great countdown :) Edited December 30, 201113 yr by Rob Summers
