The Wanted on the other hand - GYC is a great song but they don't have the kind of backing 1D have in terms of promotion.

How do you mean? 1D haven't had any significant promotional slots in America yet. The only confirmed promo I'm aware of is an appearance on the TV show iCarly. Obviously more is to come from them, but as of yet there's been nothing.

TW appeared on Ellen, and were invited onto Ryan Seacret's radio show - both pretty major promotional slots. It's worth noting that TW's manager in the US is Justin Bieber's manager. He's organised great promotion for them thus far, and certainly has the power to pull some major strings.

1D have Simon Cowell's backing and he has a lot of good contacts with the industry, not to mention tons of TV shows. I always thought he can do for 1D what he did for Boyle and Leona in the US. BTW, in addition to iCarly, they also have a slot booked for The Morning Show on NBC. As for The Wanted, GYC is an amazing song and has been embraced by radio, but going by their follow-ups, I don't see them having a 2nd big hit in the US unless they team up with a rapper du jour.
The Wanted did Chelsea Lately, too. I agree that One Direction has more potential behind them in terms of promotion but let's not forget that pop radio isn't too keen on the pre-teen/Disney set. You'd never know Bieber was popular by looking at the Hot 100, and while Salena Gomez and Miley Cyrus have had a couple radio hits, the Jonas Brothers, Lovato and scores of others have gone nowhere on pop radio. It's entirely possible that WMYB and One Direction as an act goes nowhere on radio and never crosses over beyond the Disney Channel audience.
I see Kelly is still #2 combined. Between her and Katy for #1 this week then?

Between Katy and Katy I'd say - Billboard posted an article with the estimated sales of a few major songs and Katy was far more than the required 60-70k-odd ahead of Kelly. It's Whitney vs. Kelly vs. Adele for #2 I think :P

Katy has the #1 in the bag by the looks of it. Sold ~200k more than Set Fire To The Rain :)
Calvin is at #122, #500 and #534. Rising really nicely so far. Ellie's at #107, #404 and oh that's it. Whatevs. M.I.A is at #375 so yeah she's just on a constant descent I guess. Maybe there's still hope for Bad Girls. Jessie's back up to #21 with Domino so it's not quite as dead as I thought. Christina Perri seems to be dropping again. :(

And that's my random roundup of people I like (and Jessie J for no real reason) for the day.

Quoting this because I feel when I give updates on random people like this I should probably put in where they were the day before just for comparison's sake. From now on I'll put it in brackets though. Well, for the few days until I get bored of doing updates on Calvin anyway.

Calvin's at #102, #462 and #540. Good rising for him all round despite the drop of the third version. Ellie's at #104, #348 and #967 now. Yay. And M.I.A is at #303. Big rise, would I be wrong in getting hopeful for this?

Is Hit The Lights still Selena's next single? After it was completely overshadowed by Love You Like A Song I thought they might just leave it but it's at #188 now so I think they should give it a shot.

Also about the 1D vs The Wanted thing, I'm pretty sure I read that The Wanted have an airplay deal in the US courtesy of their connections with Capital so I'd say they have the advantage over 1D promotion-wise.

Amazing Adele has 3 songs in the top 10 on AMERICAN iTunes, it's just incredible!

She doesn't need to perform it - just needs a contestant to

britster the psychic :kink: It just so happens that one of the auditionees on 'The Voice' last night performed 'Rumour Has It' as the last audition of the show.

Amazing Adele has 3 songs in the top 10 on AMERICAN iTunes, it's just incredible!

And thanks to the TV show Smash, "Rumour has it" has jumped up 20 places to #25.

Gotye back up to #9 :D Really hope this can get top 10 on the Hot 100 soon.

Rolling In The Deep down to #8 and Someone Like You down to #10, so they'll be back out of the top 10 pretty soon - ah well, couldn't last forever :P Rumour Has It up to #24 now!

16. So Good - B.o.B

Doing much better than the last new single he released (the one with André 3000). Odd.

fun. back up to #2, Adele still at 3, Kelly up to 4, Nicki up to 5 and Whitney down to 6. (To complete the top 10, obviously Katy's still #1 and Chris Brown is at #7).

Thanks to whoever put the links back. :D

Is it possible that B.o.B will go to #1 on iTunes again? It's impressive to see fun. back again at #1.

 7. Glad You Came - The Wanted

:cheer: Get that top 10 on the Hot 100 please. (Glee version #42 now).

Surprised to see fun. back at #1, I thought Katy still had a pretty big lead over everything else :o I'd imagine B.o.B will get to #1 a bit later though. fun. also up to #37 with 'Some Nights' (and the album version of 'We Are Young' is at #112).

Whitney down to #9, hopefully Gotye will overtake her shortly and then Rolling In The Deep can get back into the top 10 again :P

A bit surprised at the lack of Tyga album tracks in the top 100 (the Nicki Minaj track at #39 aside) :o There's a couple of others in the top 150 though (the Big Sean and Chris Brown/Wynter Gordon collaborations, plus another version of 'Faded').
