You've forgotten the most important battle of all! :o

The battle of the Australian pop winners:

Farahtyn || Jessica Mauboy – Inescapable vs. Hendinia || Ricki-Lee - Raining Diamonds

Which will be forgotten more? My money's on Inescapable, sorry Jess Mauboy and Martyn...

I haven't a clue how others are going to vote in this. There were easily some stand out winners in 2011 but also a couple of not so stand out (almost default it seemed :( ) winners.

I reckon the battles will be:

Batidas || Agnes Obel - Riverside Vs Isconia || Lana Del Rey - Video Games

The two big female piano ballads that stormed BJSC. Well, 'Video Games' stormed. 'Riverside' was just lucky (but I still love my entry regardless  )

FSR Rontvia || Sheelah - The Last Time Vs Kopečka || Loreen - Sober

It's also a battle of the two most successful nations as they go head to head with these two tracks representing the most successful of Scandipop winners.

Espen || Frida Gold - Wovon sollen wir träumen Vs FSR Rontvia || Eric Amarillo - Om Sanningen Ska Fram

The only non English language tracks to make the final. Neither won their respective contests but which will prove the most popular in TBO?

Batidas || Gotye & Kimbra - Somebody That I Used To Know Vs Persephonia || Beth Ditto - I Wrote The Book

Both finished 13th in their respective contests making these the two least performing tracks to make TBO. Is it too soon to write off Beth Ditto as a strong contender?

Of your duels, I'd imagine that the 'winners' will be:

Video Games, loved even more than ever now, no longer as love/hate as it was - the UK release changed the love/hate percentage from 50/50 to surely 80/20? Riverside is gorgeous but I doubt it will do as well as Video Games.

Sober/The Last Time could be close run actually, I'm not sure which will do better. Sober is more recent and had a very strong winning margin, but then The Last Time is statistically the most successful winner of all time based on the percentage of votes that it achieved from what it could have received (was top three with almost everybody who voted for it). However it was a year ago now and therefore imo at an instant disadvantage (will the more recently joined countries favour songs from contests before their time ahead of their favourite discoveries that they already know and love?), and as Pavel mentioned above - winning a regular contest and coming out top of a combination of the best from ten contests are two very different beasts.

Wovon sollen wir träumen, if it wasn't for Video Games then this would have deservedly stormed to victory. I find the German language very unappealing but the melody and production of this make it too irresistible to ignore. Naturally I prefer Om Sanningen Ska Fram, and would LOVE to see it do really well, but it amassed 120 odd points in a weaker contest, Frida Gold came close to 200 in the strongest contest of the year, I'm just pleased that Eric got this far. Unless everybody's cruelly forgotten about Wovon sollen wir träumen then I don't see why it won't ease into the top ten.

Somebody That I Used To Know, no contest surely? I don't know how Beth Ditto even got this far. As Eyes said though, it's clearly got some momentum so I won't rule it out of a top 20 finish. It's not finishing above Gotye though.

What does everyone reckon will trail in last/bottom three? I'm sadly expecting Sadness Is A Blessing to finish at the bottom, but I'd prefer if it was one of the many generic fempop songs instead. The other major contenders for bringing up the rear that I can see are Louder, More To Me or perhaps one of the Australian female pop songs. But then the pop vote seems stronger this year than ever before so perhaps we'll have a surprise in last instead?

Hmm.. I agree with your predictions there, but what about Ola? Do you think "the pop vote" will favor him over a lot of the other pop songs in the final? I don't, really, so I can definitely see him in the bottom three.

Jessica has already sorted out the place to go into hiding when this all goes tits up. She is taking her green lycra with her to burn!

Oh well, '212' is now officially SUPER CHEAP with its Top 75 placing :drama:

New contest won't be until end of February I think that's when Freeze said he'd put up confirmation then.
